What are some of your initial thoughts of Ford's Mustang Dark Horse?
Looks like a Camaro actually, FAIL FORD, But it does sound GREAT as Mustangs do.
My first thought is that Motor Trend finally found a correspondent that is not only worth listening to but also looking at!
Your other senior editor tested a plain GT against a Challenger Scat Pack. And then proceeds to pee all over the GT for being blah.
Waste of time.
Should have done a Dark Horse against a Scat Pack.
And then you show up with a Dark Horse.

US spec is decent, RHD export spec sucks! The dark horse actually makes 1kw LESS then a GT for Australian delivered models.
I think it will still get compared to gt350 which it borrowed parts from but still didn't have the whole engine package.
Want one, but these prices are getting out of hand.

My local dealership just got one in. I stopped and looked at it yesterday. It is a stunning looking car in person. The prices are outrageous tho.

I bought the highest performance, best handling v8 mustang available in 1986, brand new for.....9200$, super fun, quicker than the cometition at the time, I know because I beat them at Firebird raceway, 14.3 @ 92 mph 107 air temp😊

I've owned two Foxbodys in the past and am once again dabbling around for my third, there are a lot of them out there but the prices are ABSOLUTELY INSANE! I feel very fortunate to have grown up in a household where wants were most definitely an afterthought at best so we'll into my adulthood I've continued to live strictly by that code, my favorite responses are when sellers be it dealerships or private try to school me on the Mustang Legacy, I was hooked when one of my uncles bought his Mach1 when they first came out! My favorite conversations are when people keep trying to drill in your head the condition of a vehicle, there's a reason God gave me eyes that continue to serve the purpose I can see for myself! Short story long, clearly if you think that you have found one of the suckers that's born every minute if I'm going to pay THREE TIMES what each of my cars cost me straight from the factory with z-e-r-o miles on it thirty-one and thirty years ago respectively no matter how bad I want not need it like blood, water, food, oxygen! In the words of My Mother, THEY DUN BUMPED THEY HEDZ! I'm sorry for taking up so much of your time!
That’s when the mustang was marketed as a affordable, fun v8 for the masses. Those days are long gone

I drove 2 Mach 1 handling packages previously. After seeing the new s650, I decided to look for and buy one of the last brand new mach1 handling package mustangs for sale

Exactly. Really does not look that good. It unfortunately looks a little like a Camaro up front. Headlights are dismal.

I think it would be the perfect car if it had the old speedometers like last year's they could have kept the dashboard and instruments the same as 2023 and It would have been the perfect mustang
No it wouldn’t then people would be complaining that it’s old and outdated and same as the previous model.
It really needs a stripe package.
I don't mind the screens. What's hideous is the outrages laziness in their design. They could have molded or made cut of the screens so they look more integrated into the dash.
That adds cost to already over priced vehicles.
@@tri3pleagent Injected plastic isn't expensive. They're going for this simply because companies, like Mercedes, first introduced this design. Now everyone is following suit. Porsche, on the other hand, has a beautiful layout.

I hate the dash screens. Just looks awful. Give me last years Mach 1 cluster any day. I like the exterior though.
It's pretty divisive amongst people! I love it now that I'm used to it, but yeah, it does look like a couple of iPad's glued to the dash.

2021 Supercharged GT 500 for a Mustang GT. It's insanely priced for some suspension bits and a transmission that comes in every Camaro SS.

Great specs but hate the front end of this car. When I first saw it, I thought I'd give it time to grow on me. It never happened. The dash is horrible as well. Not a car that I'm in love with anymore.
I saw the base 5.0 in person doesn't look too apealing the front facia killed it.

I get this is a short review, but not mentioning the steering or handling (apart from saying the word “handling” once) is too superficial and makes this feel a bit like an ad.
umm... It's Motortrend. That is what they do. Here's a way to stop it. Stop watching their dumb videos. There are TONS of great channels out there. Give them your business.
So, the Dark Horse (7th Gen) finally catches up to the Camaro SS/ZL1 1LE variants (6th Gen) in handling, but still falls 150 HP short? Good to know.
Put my name down for one of these the moment they were an idea, I kept chasing and chasing ford up to find out the dates, couldn't wait to put a deposit down, but because I didn't have a fixed price yet I had to wait.
Finally I get a call only to be told they're not available. They all sold out, I said I had my name down from the start. If they all sold out, where are they? Who got them? I certainly didn't
I guess Australia didn't get many and the ones that did come here probably went to all the Ford people first..
Now all I can do is watch reviews on the car that you can never buy.

When you read the specs from the sticker or build sheet... I'm just gonna assume the reason she's there isn't because she's a 'car girl'.
I'd bet a bill it's a journalism background that led her to the 'very nice (2X) "5 liter Coyote naturally aspirated V8."

Personally I think it looks to much like a Camaro
They really did ruin the front end with the Camaro like headlights. Have no idea why they would go in that direction when they already had such a great looking vibe going. Really a downer for me with this gen.
The back quarters definitely look Cameroish I like the style of last year's model better. I don't like the wing either.

Sorry. GT350 is still my choice over this. With a 3600-3700 curb weight, it’s a better driver than this porker at 4000.

100hp/L from a mass production N/A V8, even with direct injection, is really, REALLY pushing it. And Ford probably overrated it, TBH. I'm pretty sure we're gonna see a lot of these motors grenading within a year. If they'd bored and stroked out the engine even just a little bit, maybe up to 3.700"x3.700", they could have made it CONSIDERABLY stouter.
Lol man, the Gen 2 coyote pushes higher numbers and goes toe to toe with Hellcats with FBO and e85. I'm thinking these will be alright. These things will push decent boost in the 700-800hp range on a stock block.
