For the price it comes to with most of the Darkhorse options I would go buy a low mileage GT350 before their prices skyrocket. I don't care for all the extra tech in the Darkhorse and I don't like the dash screen.
I have a '16 GT and have been considering a '24. Besides them being impossible to get, I'm not sure I would do a Dark Horse for a daily driver that I'm unlikely to use on a road course. I think putting the money toward a supercharger would be more useful, at least for my situation.
Let’s not forget that this “Race Horse” is more expensive than the GT350 or GT350R when they came out. Just let that sink in, and then tell me if it’s “worth its price”…

According to the Ford engineers, they removed a vibration damper from the steering linkage, which is supposed to help the steering feel more direct and/or provide more feedback.
So, he drove the full track version on the road and the road version on the track . . . At least that's what was shown in the video. He was reviewing his driving experience of the small front wheels that he kept going on about on the track and complained about not having any feel. Then on the road with the track pack version, he was going on about how much he felt every last bit of the road. I guess it's safe to assume that he drove the track version on the track as well, but if not, there's the feel he was missing.
Someone else also mentioned the numb feel steering. I wonder what other cars are doing differently? I know it has electric power steering, but surprised they can’t tune it to provide realistic feel.
Many cars have good steering feel out of electric power steering, such as the Porsche Cayman, GR Supra, Civic Type R, Elantra N, most Ferraris, and many more.
While I understand what the rear spoiler is used for, I’d like something more similar to what they gave the ‘03 cobra like a lip across the back. For looks I mean. Just my opinion.
Great video. I know this is old now, but...Question: Is there a way to completely turn the traction control off other than the traction control off button on the screen? We know that the S550 had a process for that, but I can't find anything on this new offering. The steering is very responsive on this car in certain drive modes and the brakes are outstanding! This is a fun car but IMO, a Mach 1 or GT 500 is a better deal and are better options until this car is tunable (come on, Ford!), it is a S550.650 and darkhorse is just a trim level.
You can have it. It weighs 4,000lbs, locked ECU with dual MAFs sensors, FNV platform for surveillance (bye privacy), cheap tacked on screen, and uglier redesign. Hard pass.

I've been trying to get a Camaro 2SS 1LE for a long time but can't find a dealer with an allocation (Canada). But since it's going away in a few months, I'm at the point of giving up. I wasn't a fan of the previous gen Mustang, but the 2024 Dark Horse is intriguing as an alternative to the Camaro. Sadly though, it sounds like even the Dark Horse is still not quite on par with the 1LE on track.
Nothing a few modifications can’t fix. I had a 2020 1LE Camaro with the 10 speed and I would track it all the time. Had some bolt ons, suspension upgrade goodies, some Michelin track slicks, and some aero. Sadly it was plagued with so many issues/ problems. After the engine decided to take a shit at just 20,000 miles I ended up selling at at a huge loss and got a 2022 Mustang GT track pack also with the 10 speed. I did the same thing added some bolt ons, track slicks, suspension upgrades, some aero and I’m actually running a little bit faster track times then I did with my 1LE with pretty much the exact same upgrades. I’m not bashing on the Camaro I know it’s a solid car but I ended up getting one of the bad ones. But Mustangs are also great cars so far I have 50,000 miles with a lot of track days and drag racing days and I have had 0 issues. So I’m sure the dark horse is just as good if not better

I mean this was supposed to be a review of the track prowess, and he didn't get to test the more track focused Darkhorse? For all the people saying it's not tunable. The ECU has already been officially cracked. Lund Racing has already said his tunes will be available in 10 months or less he's just waiting for the base tune from hp tuners who cracked the ECU in 3 short weeks after receiving the car. If you consider that whipple waters the tune down for ford it's going to be a monster because they already made 740whp with SC, headers, and 93 pump. Imagine what Lund will be able to do with SC, CAI, headers, and E85. Next couple years your going to see 800whp Dark Horse with a reliable build because all the extra cooling and forged internals ford put in from the factory. All the after market parts have already been built and are for sale we are just waiting on the tunes.

For instance, I live in the huge Chicago area, and although I don't know any Ferrari or 911 owners, I do and have known lots of guys with performance cars and have never heard of someone taking their car to a racetrack. How much would it even cost to do that?
PCA, BMW, all have local chapters that do Drivers Education at local race tracks, arrive and drive, you progress with an instructor and then solo as you move up. I am a PCA national instructor, with all the clubs and groups you could drive every weekend.
Not at all. I have made trips from Miami to Gatlinburg and change the mode multiple times during the long drive. On rougher roads, Track mode is a bit harsh (I have the mag shock option). Also, it will stay in 8th gear most of the time, and only occasionally shifts up to 10th gear. If I am just trying to stay above 25mpg, or quiet the exhaust down, I keep it in Normal/Quiet mode. Sport mode is a good compromise, especially in the mountains where it will keep you in a lower gear longer, and save your brakes. (2020 GT convertible with PP/magnetic dampers and 10 speed)
I do have a 2021 mustang but i have never driven it on the street only at track its a drag car so i wasnt sure if it would hurt it thanks for the answer keep the rubber side down shinny side up !

Car should come with much better tires ,those Pirelli tires are garbage, they are for Road comfort, I have four of the Dunlop sport Max 2 tires, better than the Michelin definitely better than those pirelli's and half the price.... it's like driving around with four slicks almost.

It's actually 307 since 2018. Ford did the plasma arc cylinder coating and didn't need the cylinder liners anymore.

Just wish they had put 4 piston brakes in the rear. The current setup which is the same as the current 2015-2023 brakes makes it look cheap.
The numb steering seems to be a common thread and the only true disappointing facet of the new Mustang.
Not just numb but completely dead. That and the 4000-lb weight!
And the also overboosted brakes, feel great on application but then too quickly into the ABS then hard to modulate and smoothly release
And the MT82 unless you get the darkhorse. Huge miss there.

Good video but the brakes cannot be from the GT500. GT500 were 16.5” fronts versus 15.4” in the Dark Horse.

Chevrolet stop building the Camaro so I guess ford thought they would start building it
What's the point. Any dealer that gets these is going to mark them up by such a margin that most of can't even consider buying one.

I love how all of the social media is pushing this car because Ford said to do it or else...dude this is the same 550 but 10k more. There is nothing special about the 650 and definitely nothing special about the Drift Stick Dark Horse 😅 OMG hahaha
Why can they just delete the back seat and put a sound system. No one can’t really seat in the back there is no space for leg room and most people’s head hit the roof.
I don’t think you’ll find a better track car at this MSRP. Not that you’ll be able to find one at MSRP.
Same price as a ZL1 with 650hp. Camaro will kick this things ass

@@steventuazon182 Sure, but the original comment wasn't about sales or what people want in the car--it was about finding a better track car at this price. I like the Dark Horse and Mustangs in general, but the ZL1 is going to perform better at the track for the price.
@@steventuazon182 Camaro still has another year of ass kicking to do. And yeah what MrHighly said. It about who is better on track not sales. Lamborghini Huracan's are ending soon also but that doesn't make the Mustang a better track car.
@@bob-qi4nr Im not talking about sales, because the corolla will beat all these cars. Sales as in if people are actually buying them. Comparing the Camaro to a Huracan...different situations. Camaro been cancelled twice because they were selling horribly. Who knows why? The few of us that buy cars for numbers are few compared to those who want something they can live with. I daily drove my GT500 until i bought a motorcycle. I test drove a Camaro back then and my hair touched the headliner, wasnt for me. So they can dominate internet chats and magazines, but there is a reason its getting cancelled, again.
I understand there isn’t much feel from the wheel for a pro driver. For a regular driver I’m guessing you’ll feel it

I wish just one time that one of these drivers would make a couple of laps around the oval track and leave out the road course. I could careless about the curves and all that BS. I don’t know if a single regular guy like myself that races on a track. We fun from a dig in the quarter mile and top speed.
