    Cool video, I have owned to many Subarus to mention (always bought new other than my GC6 mentioned prior), I always thought they had AC systems on the weaker side, same advised by my buddies who also buy Subarus. Man do I wish you lived near Long Island, I wouldn't trust a local place to do this service correctly, especially adding back in the pag oil. I actually don't trust them do much of anything correctly, maybe brakes they do okay since that is a pretty simple service, even then they cut corners and do a sloppy job. I used to do brakes myself but live in an apt now, makes car work a pain in the ass.

    Love your videos. I have a 2011 Outback and it’s cool, but I think it’s a little low. I’ve been looking for published high and low side readings as I wanted to add some if I’m able to. Or should I just take it somewhere and do what you just showed us which goes strictly by amount instead of pressure ? Thanks

    With more GDI engines coming from Subaru now. could you do a video on your thoughts about maintenance on them? I have seen video that some GDI engines can get their valves clogged real bad. I have seen inconsistent advice based by car brand/model about what to do, but running GDI cleaner of some sort at each oil change is what I have guessed would be best. could you also try to cover running GDI cleaner through a Subaru engine?

    I have a 2012 Subaru Impreza. The AC Evaporator core failed in the beginning of 2019 and I replaced it, along with the expansion valve and seals. The system was Evacuated and recharged, but doesn't cool as it once did. It only gets down to about 55 degrees. The dealership states the condenser is leaking and wanted $1200. I said no, and now 1.25 years later, it still blows 55 degrees. If it was leaking, would it not now be too low on refrigerant to work at all? Any advice you can provide? Thanks in advance and keep those videos coming! :)

    The AC system on my Impreza (2012) has been dead for a while. I haven't been driving it so repairing it is not a top priority.
    I know there is at least one leak, where the high side hose connects to the compressor. What I'd love to know is, without that fancy SnapOn machine, how can I know the system is low on PAG oil and how do I add oil to the system?

    Mr. Subaru guy.. I have a question for you regarding a 2002 Subaru Outback LL Bean Edition. I discovered the typical A/C O-ring leaks at the compressor and replaced those 2 O-rings. My question now is, it looks as if the AC Compressor Clutch is faulty as it has busted springs on the outside. When it does manage to spin the car gets cold. But it is hit and miss. I was wondering if you happen to know if the clutch assembly can be replaced or is there just a outer spring assembly available? If you could please give me some information as I really don't want to replace a whole compressor that is still working besides the clutch being bad.

      AC is pretty useful and snowy weather for pulling moisture out of there and defrosting. If you were rallying it probably isn't a small amount of horsepower that's holding you back. It's probably skills tires and suspension. I'd keep the AC.

    Doing a pressure test under vacuum is only using 14.7psi so it’s not something that is very useful

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  4 роки тому +1

      If the system can't/won't hold a vacuum, then it won't hold refrigerant. Leak testing, via a system's ability to hold vacuum, is an essential tool in the hvac diagnostic arsenal.
