I love my defender. We have the P 300 and we have taken it across Europe. It’s very comfortable and fantastic to drive. Have not yet taken it off road, but I’m sure it will do very well. Looking forward to taking it in the mountains in the snow later this year for skiing. No complaints with this vehicle except gas mileage. The seats are great.
I got to test it here in Norway, and was charmed! A wonderful mix of charm, new fashion's high technology, and certainly good in the terrain too! I only had it on asphalt, and saw white on some worse roads. It gave me a sense of security!
Took one offloading it was excellent. Water crossing, rocky climbs, grass, mud and ruts, axle articulation gravel climbs and steep decent, tree negotiations. All handled with ease and on all season tyres. If I end up getting one which I am hoping to do I will be specing off road tyres then I'm sure it will be almost invisible. My heavily modified defender could have followed it round but would have taken more effort and I believe it would be much improved on the road had I been allowed to take it home. Im holding out for the new 90 which I'm going to look at in a week or two.
you mentioned that sound system in this car is not that great, which version you mean? is it the base, meridian or meridian surround sound? or all of them?
@@DailyDrives973 Yes, maybe it's the software. I updated my Velar for the first time and the sound quality from the Meridian system improved (at first I couldn't believe that a software update is all that was required)
Today we just picked up the Velar for our next test and diving into the setting I realised that it makes a huge difference what equalizer preset you're on. For example DTS, Meridien, stereo and one more I forgot 🤣
Honestly that doesn't happen. The abandoned car thing is big in the UAE and happens for the most part when foreigners come and want to live the high life and buy cars on credit and can't afford payments. They just flee the country leaving the cars where they are
Yes it can go off road but can it live off road, probably not due to over sophistication. You would need some very expensive diagnostic equipment to maintain this thing unlike the basic and field repairable old Defender.
Most of the time it breaks down you will need to take it to the dealership. Ridiculous! Who needs all those expensive installed computers if we are going off-road! I need a reliable 4x4 that I can service under a tree shade if it breaks down and get myself back safely to civilization
None of that for the A pillar and windshield. We did however have the digital screen in the gauge cluster turn off randomly for a good 20 seconds during the test but weren't fortunate enough to catch that. However we do believe that this will be fixed with a future service update.
DailyDrives973 its not about the equipment but about showing different/better views, for example showing the vehicle from outside while driving off-road. But other than that? It was all good! 👌
It is a great replacement to Discovery which has now gone up to the Range Rover market. We still need a replacement for the old Defender but it looks like we will have to wait for the Ineos. This is a great road/field vehicle like the Discovery but it has lost the beam front axle etc that made the Defender excel off road. It is also priced as a luxury car so it is not something you can throw a dead sheep in the back of which means it has lost a major market of the people that use off road vehicle in their daily life.
I tried this car in sand .its very complicated which is not good. Overheat alot and alot of mechanical failure. Thanks defender for bringing another stupid car to our market
"Select the gears yourself and risk damaging the gearbox"?? I would rather have a lever than a button any day!! It has a multitude less points of possible failure!! The bloke is clearly full of crap so at that point i switched off!!
SUV stands for Sport Utility Vehicle and when the acronym was introduced it was applied to any off road vehicle faster than a tractor. It's not our fault the same designation is given to cars that aren't capable anywhere else but on tarmac.
Well nothing is really because jeeps are good a rock crawling same with the new bronco but their not great at towing. The land rover is very good at towing and going through mud and their great on road but it's articulation isn't the best but it's not that bad really. The g class is great except it's too expensive and because of that you worry about breaking things. The land cruiser is pretty good overall except that it could be better at towing. Pickups in Europe at least are great except their not as good as other offroaders on the road because of their leaf springs and their approach, departure etc are not great really. So ye...
The comment about the 'manual' gear selection damaging your gearbox is some of the greatest rubbish I have heard. Immediate thumbs down. Lets see how the 'new' Defender holds up in about 5-6 years time when the warranty has expired and some poor schmuck has to try and afford to keep the thing on the road. PS: the faux plastic chequer plate SO sums up the new Defender - marketing over substance.
No, it's not worth the name! Try fixing that bucket in the middle of nowhere! GO hockey-moms: there is another gullible SUV for you! :-) Imagine that: in the OLD Defender you have to manually shift your gears and prove your driving skills... Thanks to Land Rover and their fabulous IT and electronic systems, I'll meet more idiots in the outback - still wondering how they even got there! I prefer my "OLD" Defender over any other (wanna be) legend! :-)

Should have bought a Diesel ?
Stephen Fogarty It wasn’t available at the time

Another great review! The improvement in each video is noticeable. Great work and keep doing us proud
Thank you for the kind words 🙏
A very entertaining review indeed! I love the vibe and hope to see more off road action from you guys!😍👌🏽

The defender 90 should be coming out soon.
nice and impressive car
6:40 he turns the steering wheel almost full circle with one finger..off-roading has changed!🤣
you mentioned that sound system in this car is not that great, which version you mean? is it the base, meridian or meridian surround sound? or all of them?
We had the Meridien. It was alright but we have tested cheaper cars with Bose sound systems that just provided a more "full" sound.
@@DailyDrives973 Did you check if the equaliser settings were correct? If you select the correct settings it sounds pretty good
It's not bad as we said but could use more considering how big and spacious it is inside.
@@DailyDrives973 Yes, maybe it's the software. I updated my Velar for the first time and the sound quality from the Meridian system improved (at first I couldn't believe that a software update is all that was required)

YES is the best..... 4x4 of the market !!!
@War.L _ but not the same price range :)
@War.L _ the swiss army baught 4.000 Mercedes G automatiques !
I really want to drive this car!
I think this is what would have helped you when you got stuck 🙈
nicely done!
I had mix feeling from pictures but yesterday saw on in real and it is massive, bulky!
Yeah it takes a while to sink in
My dream car
your country looks beautiful
Thank you! It's Bahrain
Just a quick one. The P400 is a straight six now rather than the V6.
you are right thanks for that! It slipped off the tongue
It's an interesting and informative video!
I am making off-road and camping videos with new defender. I think new defender is a great car!
Thank you!
mate you could do those tracks in a 2wd!
It’s more “off road” than most will see in heir life time
Do you guys still abandon your cars out in the desert when you run out of gas?
Honestly that doesn't happen. The abandoned car thing is big in the UAE and happens for the most part when foreigners come and want to live the high life and buy cars on credit and can't afford payments. They just flee the country leaving the cars where they are

Any A-pillar, windshield or technology issues?

Land rover has already has made an update for the A pillar.
Sean Carmickle I got some road noise at 120 km and above. What change did they make, can you elaborate? Thanks
@@GreenFields-7777 if you take it to the dealership, they will add foam behind it. Apparently, it needed a thicker piece of foam behind the A pillar
Best at the moment yes , a lot of haters need to move on down the road....
We know! So much hate but they are selling well
I wish the cinematography was better
We need better equipment we are just a few atm

Lol. Come to Alaska some time and we can drag it through the mud and a river or two behind my TJ.
Right. What a moronic comment.

@Mark Turner Paddles are common and I actually prefer that option to manual as you then have the choice.

off road this? really?
Show the car from outside you damm it.
