    This is the best review of the 2020 Defender on youtube...I've watched so many of them and not one single person took the time to actually measure the truck. I appreciate it very much.

    Objective comprehensive review except no serious off road stuff where the Defender really excels. I have the 240 D S spec with large sunroof, sidesteps and fridge in the centre console. I’ve done 5000km in the truck now. It’s a great comfortable long distance tourer. If you press the accelerator pedal just before the apex of a corner getting the power on as you steer around the corner you can drive it like a sports car. Despite the slight body roll it grips the road really well and had plenty of power for overtaking. Using sport mode sharpens up the handling and steering which is really good for twisty back country roads that we have many of in New Zealand. It handles unsealed roads with great accuracy too. Using the low range and mud/ruts,sand , rock crawling settings etc off road it has extraordinary ability. I’m an experienced off road driver having owned a V8 petrol Discovery and two diesel Discoveries and a Diesel V8 RangeRover sport and I can fairly say, overall , the new Defender is more capable than any of the above. I’m extremely pleased with my new Defender it’s a very well designed and engineered vehicle. I hope the new model sells well, it deserves to!
    Cheers, Martin Rees.

    Great review, the audio sounds great. I thought the measuring and demonstration of the third row and the front row/second row compatibility was very helpful. As a female, I always appreciate lots of charging options. This car really hits the mark on charging, there is even a place for my hair dryer/curling iron or laptop! I enjoyed the review and the channel. Keep up the good work.

    Loved the review, did notice on the road test a lot of overhead cables!! Looking forward to the launch of the Defender 90 Commercial, available with coil springs rather than airbags and with a bit of luck a manual transmission, less to go wrong, also think the steel rims look better. New swb Bronco a possibility.

      @@CarDietrich I know what you mean it doesn't launch over here until the 5th and 6th of October I'm going to try one off road on the 5th at east nor castle where they try everything out but the service manager at my local dealer said that there is only going to be one proto type going around every uk show room one day at a time, should have built them in the uk.

    Great review. Great to hear and see you riding high above all the others. I wish you would have spent more time driving like flooring it from a stoplight to freeway driving but cool review, cause I think your out westndealingnwith fires as well. Stay safe. My one question is did you find a space to add a optional CD player/changer, cause some us haven't converted everything to a flash drive and believe it or not there are still musicians\ Dj's making music not on flash drives but actually on and selling cds still in 2020 , imagine that lol plus I like hearing the music from a cd in my SUV when I'm driving and not having to pay for another subscription for music I already own. I know the Range Rover and Sport models still have a space in one of the gloveboxes for a old school changer in the 2020 models

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  3 роки тому

      Thank you for watching Darryl! Unfortunately I did not find any space that a CD player could be added to the car, and I just checked Land Rover's website and it doesn't look like the offer a CD player as an accessory.

    There's the possibility that the airbag light came on when you were filming the dash while driving because there are sensors in the roof either side of the rear view mirror that detects your distance from the steering wheel and will inhibit the airbag from operating if it senses that you are too close to the wheel - hence the light comes on to warn that it will not work if you crash. My 2006 Jaguar XK-R does exactly this to let you know that you are too close to the steering wheel.

    • @CarDietrich

      Bit of that. I sold Jags and Rovers new for 2.5 years and of course I got stories. I will say after I left JLR I moved on to BMW, and the bimmers were no better. No worse either, same roll of the dice.

    Honestly, I love how this Defender looks. The only problem for me is, this should've been the new Discovery, allowing the Defender to be what the new Bronco is to the old one. Nonetheless, I love its looks.....

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  3 роки тому +2

      It does look fantastic. Unfortunately due to modern safety regulations worldwide I'm sure they couldn't do a modern replica of an original Defender. All I'll say about the Discovery is I sure as hell hope the 6th Gen goes back to how the 4th Gen looked because geez...

This gives utmost luxury when going gets tougher and rough .. ull be travelling with massage seats on while ur speeding on the roughest of thr terrain with ease like no other luxury car on the planet does.. where Bronco is crude ull bang ur head against metal just like a desert buggy..

      Well according to Land Rover's own research on average only 3% of their owners take them off road. I imagine that number would be higher with the Defender, but not by a huge magnitude. Maybe 10% will take them off road is my guess.
