Your video was very informative (as well as all your other videos). Thanks for your help. I'm now starting to configure Log4OM and OmniRig thanks to your great videos!
At 6:42 you switched the RTS and DTR to LOW. Using my TS590-SG the LOG4OM 2 did not go Online. Solution: RTS and DTR should be HIGH which was the OmniRig default setting. I think It may be worth to remark this here. Also when you change the baudrate in the transceiver for some reason it may be necessary to switch off and on your transceiver before the new baudrate comes into effect.
great video as always sheldon .i'm having a issue when i open up wsjtx the log4om cat does not connect but if i close wsjtx the log4om cat control will work again any thoughts on this 73's peter
Hi Stuart, Thanks for the video. Do you happen to have any content explaining how to use OmniRig with SDRSharp? I am trying to set up an airspy hf+ discovery to use with an IC-7300.
Hi Lydia, Not at this time. Omnirig from the program side is fairly easy as you really only have to tell the program you want to use it if it's Radio 1 or Radio 2. Have you verified that Omnirig works with other programs? If it doesn't you may have an issue with how you are setup between Omnirig and your radio. WSJT-x supports Omnirig, as does Log4OM. Come back and let us know what you discover! Stu AG6AG
When downloading Log4OM, OmniRig, QRZ, and other software, does it matter if the computer is hooked up to the transceiver (FTDX10 in my case) with the tranceiver on? Or is it better to have the computer unhooked to the tranceiver? Thanks again for your great videos!
Hello and thanks for putting up your videos. I am severely impaired visually and studying to take my license test and also shopping for a transceiver that will fit into my rather limited budget. With all of that being said, my plan is to be able to use my 'puter to control the radio while I can magnify the information on the monitor screen. I suppose that my question is: does the .ini file download list all of the rigs that can be controlled by a computer, or is there a list of computers somewhere that I have yet to find? It seems that so far I have only found that the higher end transceivers, Kenwood etc. are in the computer controlled category. Any input that you might supply would be highly appreciated. Many thanks, Richard.
Hi Richard, Great to hear you are working on your license! This hobby is amazing in many ways, and there are many roads you can travel once you get your ticket. You really don't get into CAT controls till you get into HF rigs. Most of the VHF/UHF rigs don't have that ability. Depending on your budget, if you are looking for a VHF/UHF/HF rig you can control completely from your PC, I would suggest the FT-991a. You might be able to find one on the used market, but I try to buy new as it leads to less problems. You then could install Win4Yaesu to control the rig from your couputer. I think the Win4Yaesu program is around $70 US. You may also want to visit this site: www.hamradioandvision.com/ Hope that answers some of your questions! Stu AG6AG
Great Video Stu... I am wondering haow to handle a second QTH. I spen part of the year in Arizona and part of the year in Washington state. So I need the logging program to know which QTH I am st. Make sense? 73
Hi John, If you have a different PC at each location then you would just configure each PC for a different location in your logging software. You then could merge your logs using ADIF files. You will need to create an additional location for your LoTW account but that is just adding one to the TQSL software. If you are bring the same PC between sites, then you would just change your setup in your log program(s) to reflect where you are. And with most Logging software you can mass change data based on all sorts of things like date and such. I'm not sure what logging software you are running based on the video this is posted against, but if you are logging Log4OM2 then these changes are fairly easy. Just change your address in the main config and use the LoTW settings configuration to select the QTH for where you are at. Hope this made sense... Stu AG6AG
@@AG6AG Thanks for the reply. I am trying to run Log4OM... but for some reason the program wont work with my IC-7300. I have adjusted everything imaginable on the rig and omnirig -- but still not communication between the two... always something! Your videos have been very useful. thanks again.
Hi John, I don't have much experience with IC-7300, but this video might help: ua-cam.com/video/2n6NWh0Cmpo/v-deo.html. It's important that you are using the Omnirig V1.xx software from Afreet Software. The V2.xx software is not compatible with Log4OM2. Hope this video helps... Stu AG6AG
Hey could you do a video on how to have log4om and wsjt running at the same time through cat interface. I have a yaesu for dx 10 and can only run one program at a time very frustrating thanks I’m advance
Hi Danny, Look at this video: ua-cam.com/video/rEPh9NqMYyg/v-deo.html. This talks about port sharing and in one of the examples we show WSJT-x configured to work with OmniRig. Hope this helps! Stu AG6AG
Thank you very much sir !!! i just connected my Ic-705 with your help !!!

Hi Lane,
It doesn't matter during installation. You would want the radio connected and on when configuring CAT in the software.
