Will forever have a special place in my heart, been playing on and off since it came out and never skipped to level 30 always enjoyed replaying those missions.
I'm not going to lie, I really miss this game but playing it as an adult doesn't hit the same. I was there the year it came out and was never able to get any of the paid content, I remember a few years later when I was able to pay for content I finally got the green lantern power set. As a kid I was amazed by it all, so amazed that I didn't even know there was content beyond level 30. I would just play the story and since everything else was impossible for me to do due to difficulty, I just would roam around or start a new character. Years later as I got smarter I realized how to actually access the content and had a blast all over again. I personally feel like DCUO is just too changed for me, I've revisited a couple times here and there and it just feels like I was left behind in a way. I remember the skill trees and kinda preferred them as they felt easier to separate things. I feel like if I start over again I'd be able to get back into it, but I just don't really have the time like I used to. I still have my old characters but so much has changed that I feel like it's hard to just jump in the middle of things rather than easing my way into it with a new character. DCUO will always have a place in my heart and I hope it goes strong for 12 more years.
I agree, I still play from time to time but every time I take a 6 month or year break I come back and it gets more confusing to try and catch back up. Too much new stuff I have no idea how to do. I think it also sucks because theres not great guides out, I do the same with Runescape but theres so many high quality guides if you have questions you can usually get a walkthrough
It wasnt pop but I enjoyed the world events you can do vs the other faction, I mostly did the Money stealing on the river cause speedster made it easy but when a random came and fought me over them I could only imagine how fun it would be populated.
I remember I was 14 when this came out. I loved just roaming the open world when I was bored while I listened to some music. The movement abilities made getting around so fun
Final fantasy 14. Solves your level problem by automatically syncing everyone to the max power rating for a particular dungeon. It allows The players who are higher combat rating to come down and play with the lower combat rated players while not making them weak per se. But they also can't just hard carry. You still have to execute mechanics. And then they have unsinked where you can just go in and bulldoze some content but really not all The system has really allowed final fantasy 14 to bring in new players to do all the content in the game while keeping the older players doing their content and still mixing the two different groups together without stifling one or holding back the other. It's very ingenious
@@slim3710 it's not forced on the player base to utilize. It's completely opt-in. At least for final fantasy. I haven't played never winter in a while so I don't know how it is over there anymore
Best movement in a game I have ever seen. People release all these game with endless possibilities, but the characters run and take horses everywhere. Super flight and super speed was so awesome and fun. Customization was awesome too.
I disagree on movement speeds, hulk on classic xbox and ps2 had really good movement, so did prototype 1 and 2, saints row 4 you get super powers in a simulation, infamous 1 and 2, spiderman games, there are others but you good idea, and for mmos champions online has the best travel power choices. I just thought you may be interested in these games if you have not played them.
@@frequencyoftruth2303 Prototype was dope, and Infamous. I wish they would do a modern super powers gsme like Prototype. I meant more along the lines of MMOs which are largely running or mounts. Champions online was ahead of its time. I more mesnt eveything is a wow clone, and in games where everything is possible we get horses (basically) with only a marginal movment speed increase. Wheres the flying and cool moment in MMOs. Good games you brought up though.
I do miss playing this game I won’t lie. I mainly played during my middle school-high school days on console so about 5-6ish years and would grind for so many hours. Wouldn’t be surprised if I had over a thousand hours on the game. Since then however I’ve switched over to pc gaming and just haven’t found it in me to start all over again , I’m really sad that you can’t bring your save data from console to pc. I completely understand why that is, but damn I do miss this game from time to time and try it out again every now and then for about a week or so before I drop it again because it just isn’t the same for me anymore.
I have some great memories with this game. I haven’t come back in a while (last time really active was 2012-2014) but such a fun game and a wonderful celebration of my favorite comics. One of my favorite memories with DCUO was when I was raiding in 2012 and some of the guys I was raiding with invited me to their league. I joined and then it turned out it was an all-black league and they thought I was black too, but let me stay because I was chill and pretty good at heals and controller. I stayed with that league until it went mostly inactive a year or so later, but I’m still Facebook friends with a few of the dudes from it.
Reminds me of the Bakugan online universe back in the day, you would buy Bakugan and you’ll be able to peel off a little code and transfer them to the online universe and be able to battle other people from around the world, tournaments, missions etc
This game still going? Thats awesome! I played from launch until Halls of Power I think. It was so much fun playing w a league and doing difficult dungeons and raids ❤ duos and Alerts 😊 I hopped on like a month ago and my heros skill points were gone! There were people still playing not as many as before. The villain side was empty
I used to always pick villains but I remember most people pick heroes. Though last time I last played the game there was no separate worlds for pve and pvp *Edit: Ewww I accidentally used an emote
How is the villain side empty? The watchtower is such a sh!tty maze to try and navigate compared to the symmetry of the hall of doom. You want to find something in the HoD? 5 minutes at most. Want to find something in the watchtower? 15 minutes of wandering and you still might not find it. Aside from that, there's barely a notable difference between villain and hero. The real difference is whether you want to stand around waiting in a maze or something well designed.
This bring back memories when I didn't even know what mmo was. I played injustice a lot, watched a lot of superhero movies, and came across DC Universe. The game was phenomenal. Unfortunately last time I tried to revisit the game was nearly dead. Haven't played the game ever since then which was years ago
This is still my favorite game of all time, no game has fill the hole that this game left for me since they nerfed jump cancelling/clipping and introduced weapon mastery. I did not really care for weapon mastery, it was just removing jump cancelling that made dpsing not as fun and competitive anymore. I was able to do so much different combos with jump cancelling with multiple different powers(especially HL). But, as a whole its probably the best game ever created or top 5. I legit made real life money on this game from farming exobits and selling mods for gear. You really could do it all in this game!!
Played this game for years. So many great memories and experiences. Part of one of the popular guilds, Game of Thrones, saw the rewards of the highest spenders, so many dungeon runs. The feeling of being behind or not being able to access the paid parts of the game really hurt my heart. Would love to see it graphically modernized
Great news is before the end of the year it’s getting very a big Next Gen update with graphics and gameplay upgrades. Can’t wait to hop back on, I love always hopping back on during the Xmas season, love Metropolis and Gotham with all the snow, music, and decorations.
Super speed will always be the goat to me. Chose it most times and never regretted it haha, though I never made it anywhere near late game I don't think. Enjoyed this game a lot for quite a while though, good times.
I remember playing on PS3 years ago. I completed the story for all 6 mentors, and did some raids. I remember you couldn't get trophies unless you paid for the premium, but 1 month of that and all the trophies would get awarded.
I remember playing this game not too much but it was fun to mess around with! I was a shapeshifter and could transform into a werewolf who had superspeed or some other creature that could fly. Was awesome!
Open world, skyrim like story, countless different endings, choices, random AI generated side characters. Side events such as bowling, drinks, darts, exploring, sight viewing, listening to music, talking to characters, bars, raids etc. And of course free roam.
I have never reached endgame. I just do the grind to level 30 then start over or repeat missions with my levelled up character. I've always played solo. When people ask me to join them I turn them down. So endgame would be pretty useless for me if I can't solo it.
Whatttt thats insane! There is some endgame that are solos! Maybe try them theyre basically instanced versions of the early game missions but as you level up their is probably some you havent done yet!
Loved this game back in the day. Open world pvp human hunting while they did the open world missions was awesome. They killed it for me and my friends when they went away from the Rock Paper scissor formula for pvp. Healers vs tanks vs Controllers. After that seemed liked everone just did DPS and roles died. If they made a DCUO 2. Id be back in a heart beat
I think the only way I could find myself or my friends coming back to this ever again is if they release a "classic" version where it only goes to up to the fortress of solitude 3 and batcave brother eye raid (marks of krypton, if you're old enough to remember that). They would bank on nostalgia alone and cosmetics. Of course patch the marks vendor glitch where you sell the gear for marks and buy them back with cash (LOL).
God i really miss playing this game on PS3. I was popular too. I remember those days when i get back from work and logged in. Everyone recognized me. Those were the days... i also miss playing old gen GTA online. I wish the servers would come back on, but that will never happen. 😥
Yeah, the community killed it for me. Had a group of people adopt me as i was stuck grinding end game on my own. they got me to tier 3 gear and could finally start tier 3 raids. As soon as i entered that raid, the leader saw me wearing T3 gear, started bitching and moaning about it till everyone voted to kick me.
@@deathslide8 guess i misunderstood u then, but yes some are quite elitist altho it rarely happens since usually the most op ones in the group carry the team
They should make it so that you can only boost a character's CR to as high as your highest character to prevent new players from skipping to end game content and allowing old players to create alts without having to grind back to the CR. They can also add a CR cap for old content so that newer players can still enjoy old raids and alerts without being boosted by end game players
They should never have removed account bound equipment. A system that meant you had to play and progress through the game in order to get a head start on a new character.
I was really enjoying this video, seeing the clips from back then and can't believe it's been that long. Then suddenly I see myself fighting that damn exploiter. None the less much love awesome video hopefully the devs looks at this and makes some viable changes ❤️❤️❤️
I started playing around September 2012. I didn't work the whole 2013 yr. I was so addicted and woke up and slept dcu. The funniest time of my life gaming. On Thursdays the game rest the tokens to get new gear. On Thursday everyone was on the game grinding. It took 5 hours to beat everything on all dlc because rallys were rolling fast with experienced players. The community the unity the alliances were very competitive and fun. When they made it available to. Rest missions that gave tokens for gear for money. I knew it was dying
A core memory from my childhood was every villain including myself grouping up and camping the police station (hero spawn) and just starting an absolute war
it's been a few years since i've played, the part i had an issue with back when i played which they might have changed by now was needed the membership to get access to all your money. I remember without a membership you only got access to like 2,000 of your money on top of the pay wall for missions you mentioned in the video
brings me memories, i remember playing it but stopping because it was getting big and i had other games to play. my dream is for a dc game like this but offline. maybe even with less pretty graphics so they can work more on other aspects of the game. i never interacted much with the community, i only played i think one raid or something it had to do with wonder woman i think. loved Being a speedster, and remember wanting to use electric powers but i had to pay for it. i don't even remember my level anymore just that was hard to level up.
I replayed this game like 20 times because after I got lv 30 on a character I just felt... lost. I was useless in the hardest dungeons but in the firsts one there wasn´t anyone playing so I had to wait for like 5-10 min just to start one.
I love playing this game at one time, it's still one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. Because the 100% voice over is amazing, I would still play this game now a days. If it was not for all the bots and gold sells in game, that is why I left the game and I was their from day one.
They need to add scaling to the game so all content can be at least a bit challenging, and thus fun. Once they have that out of the way, they can move forward with dailies like GW2 or FF14 where you do lower level dungeons or events to get good rewards. This same strategy can be used for weekly objectives that grant bigger rewards. Doing this keeps the player base more active and makes old content current again, thus making a much better experience for new player as well.
I used to love playing this as a huge fan of mmos, the game as a core was extremely fun and engaging for me. That being said the amount of mtx and lootboxes was definitely a let down to me the more I played. The moment that made me say OK it's time to move on was 1 day I was sitting in the main hub queued for s mission I needed done and asking in chat for people to come and it was about 6 hours later still no queue pop-up.. barely any1 wanted to run it once and i was like "am I really sitting here in a queue and asking in chat for 6 hours for 1 single mission? Player base was just so low it killed any motivation to continue playing and that was the last day I logged in. That was like 3-4 years ago.. I can only imagine what it's like now.
DCUO also went free-to-play just after City of Heroes went down due to legal issues. It picked up a lot of that playerbase under the idea that it wouldn't fail for the same reason (since CoH was sued by Marvel and DC was just as large at the time) while offering something that might scratch the "custom superhuman MMO" itch.
This video took me through a road down memory lane. I played back in 2012 (when I was 12) and was on and off with it until 2018. I've seen its biggest highs (for me it was when Nexus/paradox was released and the entire game was buggy as hell with hacks) and its lowest lows (maybe around that first Themyscira DLC that made every boss insanely tanky instead of intuitive). Thanks for this video!! I wish the game didn't go through micro-transaction hell or I would still be there to this day now that I'm 24.
They really do need to create another one or atleast do a massive update. I remember restarting after a long time and being so confused that the starting mission changed lol.
@@Brayzon fr bro lol tbh it wasn’t too uncommon in the dcuo community ,me and her were teens and the grown people of our time was doing a lot more crazy shii but man this game took a huge part of me
16:49 Thank you for including my gameplay, I recognize my character and my play style. I am TheRed H00D. Thanks again after many years later Also to add, controllers not only helps give power, but they ALSO are responsible for debuffs. The controller I have for gadgets is made specifically to debuff their defense, their healing ability and their attacks. So as I was fighting Doomsday, I had to evade, run around the back areas and give power and rotate skills to continue the debuffs, otherwise the boss will end up 1 shotting everyone during long periods. Our responsibility is to try to get the boss bleed faster
No problem! It was some sick gameplay I could not re create myself!! You are correct I missed that point! Can you tell I was never a controller much? haha
bro , when the game released i had just gotten my first xbox 360, I'm 11 years old, life is good I'm grinding missions, grinding levels , and PvPing when I had the chance. I must of thrown 3000+ hrs cause I played this day and nite.
This is definitely a throwback! I made many friends and went through drama with a league I once created 40 players strong eventually it died out on me but great memories! Don’t regret playing,I started to play again when covid was around on ps tried to transfer from pc but that didn’t work! So I grinded and got better with sp and cr ! And had 5 artifacts maxed great game love the mechanics but the new player base sucks nothing like 7-10 years ago
i literally can't return to this game because of what you mentioned. The drastic changes, the overhauls on progression towards p2p. I just give up not 15 minutes into figuring out where i left off, multiple times.
and i was oldschool working on like t5 when t5 was the highest. Returning now after being at the pinnacle of oldschool endgame, makes it just feel like everything i did was washed down a simulated drain. All my :"bit farming': was drowned in that sink before it went down the drain, and replaced with p2p augments etc, and thats when i go "nah."
@Brayzon Yes you can download it and play for free. It's now run by the fans who are constantly data mining the old game to find stuff that would have been released had the game not been shut down. Be warned the game came out in 2004 so the graphics can look dated.
This game was doomed to fail from the moment they tied skillpoints to time capsules. One cannot afford to make a break if one intends to reach max skillpoints at some time in the future without selling a kidney. Stay away from this game unless u dont mind not being able to play a maxed out Charakter.
Back in the day my friend got to 30 by running area 51 over and over. I thought he was crazy but he got some cool looking gear that I only found after years
Also you can get a load of feats in story that make you way stronger and collectibles that give you different styles. Coolest one iv found is the backwards knee goat legs
My problem with DCUO from a beginner perspective is that DCUO is not beginner friendly game. -The community is very toxic and wont help you. Mechanics like the scoreboard thing dont help with toxicity either.(epeen measuring contest) -When you join group based content, its automatically assumed that you are an expert of said content. If not you get abused. -The feat/skill point system is very daunting and off putting for a new player. -The in-games economy is beyond awful. Everything you want costs gazillions. -Gearing is overly obnoxious in DCUO. You have to worry about your CR gear, mods, artifacts, trinkets and maintaining your base for stats... This could have been streamlined to just CR Gear and Artifacts.
I agree with not being beginner friendly, early on it was more so not everyone was experts. That was also when only skill points and CR gear mattered there were no artifacts or the other things.
These days even alerts and raids are hard to do at a lower level when you hit level 30 you basically just have to do solos until you are at a high enough CR and then you start finding groups which sucks because a lot of the duos alerts and raids have fun missions
@Brayzon I mean some of the missions and stuff are really fun and well told stories personally my favorite villain mission is the JSA mission the cameos are awesome
Bruh i remember coming back 5 years ago and the game seemed dead. Raids were impossible, even new ones. The quenes were taking forever like 2 hours or more. Sometimes never
Me and my friend both used to play back at launch about 3 years before we met, we play together now all the time. I always see so many complaints about comic book games that get shut down because no one was playing them, or not even just comic books games but games in general. Youll find countless threads on steam for games like Marvel Heroes, threads on reddit about COH before homecoming was released of people just wishing they got a chance to play again but the thing is DCUO isnt gone, not yet anyway so if you want to play it, do it. The worst thing about the game is the monetization of it, the marketplace is terrible but if you can just ignore that I think the climb from level 1 to 30 is worth your time alone.
Been playing this on and off over the last decade. I’m hoping with the next gen updates for consoles we’re also going to see a new intro campaigns, maybe that focuses less on the whole Brainac angle and more on other parts of the DCU.
Nice vid. I always wondered how this game was doing now. I played over 2500 hours when it came out and walked around like a god with 200sp w/ the ring of Omnipotence. Seeing there’s 700 killed me 🤣🤣
Definitely a nostalgic game for me. I'd say the lack of financial support behind the game (investment wise) and some of the games systems are its real issues. Huge one is the toxic community latching onto some of it like hawks. Feats like you brought up are a mix of relevant and awful tedious time consuming things. Like some feats are for beating a raid in a certain amount of time or specific actions in battle, some are collecting random drops around the open world maps for dozens upon dozens of hours or buying them for super inflated amounts thanks to a money glitch that happened super early in the games life. Why that's a problem for toxic players? The skill point/ feat system being more impactful on stats gave people free reign to complain about other players even after the mission was completed successfully. Nothing was more miserable than hearing DPS or trolls arguing over who didn't have enough feat points to clear the raid were were in (even though the issue was the raid being days old and people not knowing the mechanics well enough yet.) or arguing over the scoreboard AFTER we cleared a few bosses. _______ I played from about T4 being the end game {like just before they introduced the t4.5 content that was open world and crashing people's ps3s lol, and back when the loot you earned was fully voted on and random and then when everyone got loot but it wasn't attuned to your role and not tradeable lmao), and playing through the original T5 content (The original Nexus and Paradox waver were... a lot lol).} I'd say the peaks of the game were around original T5 (pre-nerf nexus) and then Amazonian fury 2. (I haven't played newer raids but man Halls of Hades with cerberus just running around one shotting people, the labyrinth and throne were some of my favorite raids in game, hands down - This was however after their team got downsized and they had already shifted to the weird model of raids being every other DLC.) A lot of the unfavorable changes to the game are the super limited budgets given to the team, along with the game being treated more like successful gacha games launched after. Halls of Power 2 is more or less when everyone I knew stopped playing for destiny 2 or other MMO's. The content was a bit kind of questionable imo, wasn't a fan of that dlc's version of throne of death either. Im tempted to go back and try the game, but it seems like they are more interested in being a money pit.
I playe at the beginning and once again when it was free and played for years healer i always was able to play as a heals, im coming back to it soon I wish they would make it totally free to play and then you add bonuses for going back and even more bonuses for playing the older content as part of the story or an essential to upgrading to the next level they can make it more streamlined where you don't have to grind as much but you at least have to play it a couple of times to be able to gain the stuff to move forward that way you have to go back and see the whole story of the game making the campaign huge. What they should do is come out with a DC Universe Online 2 and incorporate DC Universe Online number one with the new game where your character from the old game can come to the new and continue on from there they really could basically make the same game again with better graphics but make it more streamlined for the content up till where it is now.
They should really make a part 2 with a huge graphic update
They probably wont ever because an MMO is a huge investment but With PS5 and Xbox X version coming later this year they may be updating the graphics

It wasnt pop but I enjoyed the world events you can do vs the other faction, I mostly did the Money stealing on the river cause speedster made it easy but when a random came and fought me over them I could only imagine how fun it would be populated.
Damn those take forever to load up or even 4v4 pvp is dead sadly
been playing almost every day since day 1. the only game i still play.
Insane, I respect it
I remember I was 14 when this came out. I loved just roaming the open world when I was bored while I listened to some music. The movement abilities made getting around so fun
Open world roaming > instance based
It wasn't always free to play. In fact when it first came out, I had it on disk and paid $59.99 for it.
Yeah thats why I said f2p in November thats when it came free! But yes you are correct before that you had to buy it!
I WAS ABOUT TO SAY THE SAME THING I WAS IN TEXAS AT THE TIME AND ME AND MY ROOMMATES BOUGHT 4 COPIES TO PLAY TOGETHER AND THAT WAS IN 2010
Yeah I knew that but obviously going f2p brings the biggest amount of players @@datboitrill

And then they have unsinked where you can just go in and bulldoze some content but really not all
The system has really allowed final fantasy 14 to bring in new players to do all the content in the game while keeping the older players doing their content and still mixing the two different groups together without stifling one or holding back the other. It's very ingenious
Interesting! That would be cool

@@NathanDraxter not sure what that has to do with the conversation at hand but okay
Nah Neverwinter has the same downscaling Bs and it's not fun for vets 😂
@@slim3710 it's not forced on the player base to utilize. It's completely opt-in. At least for final fantasy. I haven't played never winter in a while so I don't know how it is over there anymore
I remember waiting for this game to come out when I was a kid, the first 4 years where an unforgettable gaming experience.
it was like nothing else!
I think that DC should redirect focus from their films to put the stories in a revamped DCUO
I agree
Best movement in a game I have ever seen. People release all these game with endless possibilities, but the characters run and take horses everywhere. Super flight and super speed was so awesome and fun. Customization was awesome too.
Super Speed is my favorite but always was harder to use
Everyone slept on the acrobatic build too but they had some cool abilities to traverse with
I definitely was sleeping on acrobatic@@Spider-Complexion
Love this game, really would like to see it get a much needed update!
Agreed
I do miss playing this game I won’t lie. I mainly played during my middle school-high school days on console so about 5-6ish years and would grind for so many hours. Wouldn’t be surprised if I had over a thousand hours on the game. Since then however I’ve switched over to pc gaming and just haven’t found it in me to start all over again , I’m really sad that you can’t bring your save data from console to pc. I completely understand why that is, but damn I do miss this game from time to time and try it out again every now and then for about a week or so before I drop it again because it just isn’t the same for me anymore.
Its not as good as it was when you had people to play with at least for me but its still fun
Best part of the past was when everyone was in pvp server. The wars were legendary
Just hundreds of heroes and villains
I have some great memories with this game. I haven’t come back in a while (last time really active was 2012-2014) but such a fun game and a wonderful celebration of my favorite comics.
One of my favorite memories with DCUO was when I was raiding in 2012 and some of the guys I was raiding with invited me to their league. I joined and then it turned out it was an all-black league and they thought I was black too, but let me stay because I was chill and pretty good at heals and controller. I stayed with that league until it went mostly inactive a year or so later, but I’m still Facebook friends with a few of the dudes from it.
That is awesome! Leagues are a lot of fun
If they have a massive update such as the graphics story different areas this game would be on top
They are doing graphics later this year I believe but story they just add expansions
Just came back to this game, I was in high school when I played this. Now I am 30yrs old.
Still play to this day. This game always has a spot in my heart❤
Same but I dont play often
@@Brayzon i havent played the game in like 5 years
Reminds me of the Bakugan online universe back in the day, you would buy Bakugan and you’ll be able to peel off a little code and transfer them to the online universe and be able to battle other people from around the world, tournaments, missions etc
Interesting
This game still going? Thats awesome! I played from launch until Halls of Power I think. It was so much fun playing w a league and doing difficult dungeons and raids ❤ duos and Alerts 😊 I hopped on like a month ago and my heros skill points were gone! There were people still playing not as many as before. The villain side was empty
Villains are extremely empty usually
I used to always pick villains but I remember most people pick heroes.
Though last time I last played the game there was no separate worlds for pve and pvp
*Edit: Ewww I accidentally used an emote
Villains just got extremely less crowded over the years so I stood Hero but when I played with friends villains was fun@@0008loser
Yeah the beginning content is all dead which sucks.
Insane! The prime days of this game were so good
Played this game for years. So many great memories and experiences. Part of one of the popular guilds, Game of Thrones, saw the rewards of the highest spenders, so many dungeon runs. The feeling of being behind or not being able to access the paid parts of the game really hurt my heart. Would love to see it graphically modernized
Yeah that was the worst part forsure!!
The devs are out of touch with the community games almost done for sure they just milking folks
that part.
Yeah thats why I dont spend money but if its free Ill play
Great news is before the end of the year it’s getting very a big Next Gen update with graphics and gameplay upgrades. Can’t wait to hop back on, I love always hopping back on during the Xmas season, love Metropolis and Gotham with all the snow, music, and decorations.
Some people are saying its not going to be big updates now
This game need a total overhaul in graphics character customization game dynamics

Super speed will always be the goat to me. Chose it most times and never regretted it haha, though I never made it anywhere near late game I don't think. Enjoyed this game a lot for quite a while though, good times.
Super Speed was goated but Flying or skimming are easier
I played it few times, Its fun-ish, Problem is with Speedsters, they still feel slow, wish one day they feel like actual ones
Yeah they're basically all same speed
I remember playing on PS3 years ago. I completed the story for all 6 mentors, and did some raids.
I remember you couldn't get trophies unless you paid for the premium, but 1 month of that and all the trophies would get awarded.
Yeah I got the platinum by doing exactly that! Weird trophy list but easy
12 years ago and I’m watching this video 12 days later
AYOOOOOO Trippy!!
I remember playing this game not too much but it was fun to mess around with! I was a shapeshifter and could transform into a werewolf who had superspeed or some other creature that could fly. Was awesome!
Nature powers were cool
Imagine a AAA superhero game (that's not an MMO) where you could create your own superhero with a dope ass story that had a separate online mode
That would be lit. Didnt even think of that. Like a story mode but with a custom character
midnight suns! no online though
Open world, skyrim like story, countless different endings, choices, random AI generated side characters.
Side events such as bowling, drinks, darts, exploring, sight viewing, listening to music, talking to characters, bars, raids etc.
And of course free roam.
Love the nostalgia played of and on from about 2013-2018 pretty consistent just to much has changed though to keep up with it
Yeah its really hard to keep up with now its a different game
DCUO would be sick
Bring back City of Heroes but with modern graphics and a better engine.
Everyone says its good
City of heroes is back! Look up city of heroes homcoming
It's back but game hasn't aged well IMO. I remember when it first came out and I was loving it.
Of course patch the marks vendor glitch where you sell the gear for marks and buy them back with cash (LOL).
that would be interesting. I do remember that
God i really miss playing this game on PS3. I was popular too. I remember those days when i get back from work and logged in. Everyone recognized me. Those were the days... i also miss playing old gen GTA online. I wish the servers would come back on, but that will never happen. 😥
The golden years...
Yeah people like that ruin games its annoying
Lol why would they get u to t3 then complain about t3 gear, something sounds fishy here
@@songoku6067 group that adopted me got me to t3, large raid we joined doing a t3 raid complained I was only in t3 gear.
That kind of helps! But still once you get one you can skip

I replayed this game like 20 times because after I got lv 30 on a character I just felt... lost.
I was useless in the hardest dungeons but in the firsts one there wasn´t anyone playing so I had to wait for like 5-10 min just to start one.
Yeah unfortunately not a lot of players in low level content anymore

@@sambonz Same to you
They need to add scaling to the game so all content can be at least a bit challenging, and thus fun.
Yeah I guess but I feel like the way the game is just set up is like meh
Dcuo was goated

If you dont have a group or at end game its super slow definitely sucks
DCUO also went free-to-play just after City of Heroes went down due to legal issues. It picked up a lot of that playerbase under the idea that it wouldn't fail for the same reason (since CoH was sued by Marvel and DC was just as large at the time) while offering something that might scratch the "custom superhuman MMO" itch.
AHH Interesting!
That lawsuit was settled in '05, but the game ran through '12...

Also to add, controllers not only helps give power, but they ALSO are responsible for debuffs.
Can you tell I was never a controller much? haha

This game was doomed to fail from the moment they tied skillpoints to time capsules. One cannot afford to make a break if one intends to reach max skillpoints at some time in the future without selling a kidney.
Stay away from this game unless u dont mind not being able to play a maxed out Charakter.
You don't need max Skill points. 600 is golden.

Yeah I dont think you need to max characters that is the beauty of the game but yeah I see what youre saying
Back in the day my friend got to 30 by running area 51 over and over. I thought he was crazy but he got some cool looking gear that I only found after years
Also you can get a load of feats in story that make you way stronger and collectibles that give you different styles. Coolest one iv found is the backwards knee goat legs
Area 51 was always fun!
My problem with DCUO from a beginner perspective is that DCUO is not beginner friendly game.
-The community is very toxic and wont help you. Mechanics like the scoreboard thing dont help with toxicity either.(epeen measuring contest)
-When you join group based content, its automatically assumed that you are an expert of said content.
Dc universe was a recipe for greatness
Unfortunately they got greedy

These days even alerts and raids are hard to do at a lower level when you hit level 30 you basically just have to do solos until you are at a high enough CR and then you start finding groups which sucks because a lot of the duos alerts and raids have fun missions
or you need to have people to play with! But I agree it sucks when thats the only option

"Going Strong" is a stretch. It is surviving with updates though.
Youre probably more right. I guess I consider getting updates often going strong but youre probably more accurate
Still my favorite game. Also, I think its the longest running console based MMO.
Probably is! 12 years is a long time
Me and my friend both used to play back at launch about 3 years before we met, we play together now all the time.
If you can find a group to play with it makes the experience way better then you dont care about being maxed
Been playing this on and off over the last decade. I’m hoping with the next gen updates for consoles we’re also going to see a new intro campaigns, maybe that focuses less on the whole Brainac angle and more on other parts of the DCU.
That would be cool but i doubt it

So much fun back then
Definitely a nostalgic game for me.
_______
I played from about T4 being the end game {like just before they introduced the t4.5 content that was open world and crashing people's ps3s lol, and back when the loot you earned was fully voted on and random and then when everyone got loot but it wasn't attuned to your role and not tradeable lmao), and playing through the original T5 content (The original Nexus and Paradox waver were... a lot lol).}
I'd say the peaks of the game were around original T5 (pre-nerf nexus) and then Amazonian fury 2. (I haven't played newer raids but man Halls of Hades with cerberus just running around one shotting people, the labyrinth and throne were some of my favorite raids in game, hands down - This was however after their team got downsized and they had already shifted to the weird model of raids being every other DLC.)
A lot of the unfavorable changes to the game are the super limited budgets given to the team, along with the game being treated more like successful gacha games launched after.
Definitely more of a money pit now, but if you have people to play with and dont worry about the toxic people its still fun
This video brought back a lot of good memories
such a good one
If they took the more F2p approach rather than subscription with new animations and graphics and powers I think it would slap
