Yes, always check that clear glass section. I recently found a Lalique ashtray for $1, I'm hoping it will sell for $50 - $75. You just never know! As for plates and dishware, a BOLO brand is Heath Pottery out of California. I picked up two small plates for about $2, sold the pair for $100. They look fairly plain and I just happened to pick one up and idly check the mark; I had never heard of that brand before. Well worth a pickup,
I found a small Lalique vase at Goodwill years ago. I kept looking at the signature, not believing it! I think I paid about $2! Had a tiny chip, but sold for $35. Still not a bad return!
I found a signed Tiffany crystal square bowl for .99. It has a tiny manufacturers defect in it; a tiny bubble that is chipped on the top edge- so I haven’t tried to list it yet. Should I give it a go?
You might wanna bus back over and pick up those chubby pink glasses - they're Anthropologie ' Gilded Rim Stemless Glass' currently on the site for $20 a piece (on sale from $26) - a pair sold on ebay for $40. Also the green set is called Rainflower by Anchor Hocking, just for nerd knowledge!
Yesterday at GW I bought a pink & white ceramic poodle night light, for $7, with sold comps of ~$25-$30. I’m pretty excited! It’s not vintage, just very cute.
I love that you are a TEXAS thrifter! A friend of mine found a Tiffany pitcher in one of the Austin area GW stores. She was shaking so hard before she got to the register she thought she was going to drop it! She paid 2.99 for it and it's worth over $200.
Sometimes i make best friends when shopping at thrift stores... usually older generation lol we'll just chat about what we have in our carts and vintage things. Anyway, I passed by this butter dish that i was trying to decide if i should grab it, or not... i did leave it but kept thinking about it so I new I had to go back to get it... I was too late. This super amazing older lady had grabbed it.... Anyway, i got chatting with her and I made a comment that I was going to go back to grab the butter dish that she had, but was too late. She grabs it from her cart and hands it to me. Bless her precious soul ❤️ she new I was starting to collect things to resell and she said she already had a butter dish, so she gave it to me. Anyway, I was in a different thrift store the other day and they had that exact butter dish behind a counter selling for $40... now I know I can raise the price on what I had in mind lol honestly, meeting and chatting with the seniors about our scores amd vintage things is probably my most favorite part about it all. Plus, they know what's up with vintage things and give good tips
Would you show us how you pack dishes for a sale please? Who do you prefer FedEx or USPS? Do you ever ship freight items? Teach us how to use freight for much larger items as well please?
Just found your channel by watching the Denver one where you had borrowed $120 from your friend. That wooden cat and the gorilla you passed up looked like they were made from crushed pecan shells. I have some and they are awesome! I'm about an hour north of you and whenever we travel there are always 2 places we go to. The Zoo and thrift stores. Found some great stuff on a recent trip to Athens GA.
@@azjersee I'm wondering if they're incurring higher costs with fuel prices, higher wages to keep up with huge leaps in min wages, electricity and heat costs, etc. Easy to chock everything up to greed, but not always the case.
Hi Margaret, This thrift store walk through was excellent! I love your video content. I learn so much, yet it's relaxing and fun as well! Thank you so much! Lisa
It's been a year or two since I shopped at my Goodwill - wow over $6 bucks for the pumpkin plates? Seems high to me. My favorite wedding gift was find a really unusual set of wine glasses at a thrift store and pair with a nice bottle of bubbly for the honeymoon or when they got home from it. Did you mention the platform all these "sold" are from? Hey I have that exact tall cobalt bud vase! Those thin bowls are for flowers - a single rose, likely for a wedding table decoration. Called a Rose Bowl. Or the 4 would look lovely on a runner in the middle of a table - you can put any flower in them.
THE PINK LPTUS PLACE SET!!! LADY! IT GOES WITH EVERY STYLE!!!! AHHHH!!! I had the COOLEST vintage party night plate set, Amazing. This is vintage dinner party, wine or evening tea =D
Our local thrift stores.. MCC, sells mugs for .25 and .50. once in awhile they'll have a bigger pottery type for $1 but not often. Same with all glassware for drinking and most plates unless it's a beautiful set of China that looks *special*
When looking at the sold price, you have to take into consideration the shipping cost. A lot of the higher priced sales have free or low shipping, while the ones that look like they sold for a low price have exorbitant shipping fees, making the sales price much higher than it appears.
I went today to the Good Will and we bought 2 retired Saks Fifth Avenue Chicago and Downtown Houston worth $300.The Downtown Houston is Rare and hard to find. Lol! My son doesn't want to sell it.
I bought this huge Garfield alarm clock.. I was so excited. I got it home, looked it up and it was selling for like $20, if it worked and mine wasn't working. I still hang on to it for some reason.
first of your videos that I've watched and you remind me of myself in the thrift shop. I think I'll subscribe! Saw an electric coffee percolator on the bottom shelf by the green pitcher. Sometimes those are good to pick up, just check the comps.
You and I go to some of the EXACT same Goodwills, as I have seen some things in your videos that I've left on the shelves ... lol. Anyways, about 3(?) months ago it seemed like lots of attitudes and prices went WAY up. For me, that changed a Daily Stop after the Post Office into a "Let's give this another try," Stop about once every week or two. Honestly, it's better that way, as I am grinding through my death pile, but I really miss that Daily adrenaline rush. I'm 100% ok with them raising their prices and making a run at selling lots of things on E-bay, because they will soon realize that E-bay percentages, shipping costs, returns, and the costs of paying people to be skilled workers to source, list, ship, and handle those things is not as profitable as just slapping random price tags on things and burning them through thier retail stores. We just have to wait out the storm.
Yes! I stopped in at Goodwill yesterday after about a month off. I couldn’t believe the price increase. It was already high but now it just ridiculous! We have a St Vincent DePaul thrift store I’ve been visiting that has much better prices. Tyler Texas
Totally agree. Things will slow for them as people realise you need thousands of item to have good turnover. The amount of people buying thrift and trying to flip here in Australia is crazy. I'll wait until people pile up and realise it's not as easy to flip lol. I'll get bargains lol. Picking will be fantastic 👍
Love, love clear glass. You get the color based on what you put inside them. I have a ton of them and use them for all seasons: red and green for Christmas. Orange and amber for Thanksgiving- Halloween, orange and black. Leave it there, I’ll buy it!
I've noticed prices are going up and up at Goodwill. A lot of newer used items priced at my local Goodwill can be purchased cheaper in store. I'm starting to see shoes priced at 10-20$USED. Mugs for $5. I guess I will have to find a new source.
Years ago at Dollar tree I picked up two paddles of stained glass that would hang in a window. Of course they were a dollar. I had a sale about 3 years ago or so and I sold each one of them for $30. Couldn't believe it
That green beverage glass (is that when you say lotus?) brings back so many good memories. Not sure what happened to mine. Have a brother with sticky fingers, so ...
The prices are better at non-chain thrift stores. I frequent church thrift stores and others that stand alone. I go to one where all kids clothes are $1. I've found Osh Kosh and all kinds of lovely things for $1.
I like when you are discussing things out loud why you are not picking up one of the items even when you like them. You are very careful in spending your money. Are you reselling your own cloth and do you have a video. I want to learn since nothing is selling on eBay now: eBay wants us to promo the things to make extra §§.
Those prices are horrendous! We don't have a Goodwill here in my town and I see why! I don't think anyone would pay that much for anything here. You could get things cheaper at Wal-Mart!
Hey Margaret. At 12:40 those looked like stemless wine glasses. But I’m also wondering, since you go to Goodwill lots, do you ever consider picking up an orphan item, like the shot glass at 11:14 and saving it till you have a set? I’ve seen other resellers do it many times, as long as it’s not taking up a lot of space, you could make money that way.
