Excellent comprehensive review covering both the positives and the negatives of the vacuum. I'm subscribing because I will be in the market for a mattress soon. Keep up the good honest work.
do you know of any CORDED vacuums specifically for carpeted stairs? Specifically I need something that has a fully power motorized cleaning head rather than merely a "carpet" attachment that does not properly agitate the carpet. Ideally, if there is some kind of lock to allow us to vacuum the sides of the steps with minimal effort
A corded stick vacuum is likely going to be the best choice for you. Shark's corded Stratos would be my first pick for you. See here - moderncastle.com/go/shark-stratos-corded-stick Review here - moderncastle.com/shark-stratos-stick-vacuum-review/
Just received this vacuum today. I'll be contacting them tomorrow because it is very loud. It doesn't sound right, and I'm concerned I received a dud or a returned product. Hoping it's not supposed to be this loud.
That's no good. Hopefully you can get it fixed. One thing to check...make sure everything is fully connected (all of the attachments, dust bin closed, etc.). That can cause the vacuum to sound super loud if everything didn't fully click together.
We are still finishing our tests of the new Shark Detect Pro, but it seems to be basically at the same level as the Stratos. Really a toss up between the two.
Thank you for the quick response. Can you tell me the model # of the Detect Pro you are reviewing. Does it have the same suction power of the Stratos? Thank you so much@@ModernCastle
@@PETERThompson-e6h It's model IW3511 Shark isn't clear on if it's got the exact same suction or not, but based on our tests, I would say it's either the same or very close.

Hi, great content! A question, Recently purchased the Shark Stratos IZ420UKT (believe the same model, Europe)as to your review. As this is my first cordless vacuum I am unsure how this compares in the overall rankings. Initially I decided on a Dyson V11 or around that range however they are now sold out in my area. So I went with the Stratos model. It seems to be good but I have only used it once, but I am considering to return the Shark and instead go with a Samsung Jet range 75, 90 etc mainly as I think the cleaning/maintenance off the machine is simpler with the Samsung jet range and overall performance might be better. Or is the Stratos a superior machine in comparison to the Jet range for Samsung, Your opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Stratos and Jet 75 / 90 are about the same with respect to performance. I think the Stratos has a cooler feature set so I'd probably just stick with that one.
@@ModernCastle Thanks! The Stratos is for an elderly person. They find it to be slightly cumbersome with the folding mechanisms etc. Could possibly recommend other cordless or even cordless uprights with equal performance, around the same pricing?

Dyson Gen5 is definitely better, but not that much better. Gen5 just has more bells and whistles, but in terms of cleaning performance they aren't very different.
