Have a wonderful day, friends! ❤
Chelsey, next time you use a can of tomato paste, try opening the can on both ends and then push the final lid through. No waste off your tomato paste or scraping.
@sistermaryam8204. Glad you wrote that out…I was thinking it while watching Chelsea scooping & scraping. My mom is who taught me to do that (& I’m 80, so that was a long time ago!😉). I’ve done that my entire life & got upset when some of the canning companies started making the bottoms of some cans differently- - preventing that nifty trick from being possible 😠. It is such a wonderful way to clean out a can …use it mostly for tomato paste & cranberry sauce!
Chelsey, I myself have been a Canner for over 45 years. Now we used to eat Pinto soup beans & cornbread once a week. You are correct when thinking by salting the beans when you can them keeps them from getting mushy in the process of canning. It does harden the outer shell of any beans. Even when cooking dry beans by adding salt when you start cooking keeps the beans from breaking down. Also I too soak & drain my beans & cook for 30 minutes. This removes some of that gas. I still cook for a family of 4 adults &one teenager . We are 3 generations in one farmhouse. HAPPY CANNING!!!GOD BLESS from West Central Indiana USA Farmland
Hi Chelsea, I love your videos. Wanted to tell you and your viewers about another Canadian You Tuber, Glen and Friends, he does a cooking show and makes a lot of videos from old cook books, like you do. He also has another channel about airplanes...where he raised money to donate to Hope Air. These pilots fly people from remote areas of Canada to get medical attention when needed. I thought that was very interesting.
Home canned beans are also good, for people like me, that live on the Gulf Coast and experience hurricanes etc. We are often without power for a week or two. You CAN'T pull out the crock pot to cook beans. You CAN open a home canned jar of beans and cook it over your camp stove. You do a good job with your videos.
I just bought 50 lbs of beans and was feeling a little overwhelmed by the giant bags sitting in my kitchen. This video was exactly the motivation I needed to get started! Your enthusiasm is contagious! Thanks!!
Interesting video. RE: salting beans...America's Test Kitchen suggest brining beans overnight to help prevent both tough beans and mushy beans. Brining causes changes at the cellular level, which I won't pretend to understand, without causing the beans to taste salty. Per pound of dried beans, add 3 tablespoons of salt to 4 quarts of cold water. Soak overnight and rinse thoroughly before cooking. While cooking, season the beans as you normally would. Thank you for your informative videos.
@@LittleMountainRanch Chelsea, I thought I’d heard somewhere that putting a dash of organic cider vinegar in the soaking brine also helps to breakdown the compounds.
I learned a great tip about getting the tomato paste out of the can easily.....cut the lid off both ends, then using the lid at one end, push the whole can full of paste out the other. Works like a charm.
****Ladies what you cook in bulk today saves YOUR Energy and YOUR money as your washing dishes once instead of dozens of times while saving Time, Water and Fuels/Electric and your Money (as prices go up) not to mention in a crisis like no power days your food is eat now ready.****It's Friday today have a wonderful week-end
You are a great inspiration to me, love your videos and how you explain so much of what you are doing. Maybe one day you will get to watch me doing the things you do 😊
I love that you said “plan your dinner that canning day” I always do this. I found quickly I was tired and the last thing I wanted was to have to make dinner. ❤
Regarding the flat sour thing, watch Rose Red Homestead. She is extremely knowledgeable about canning. Have dreams of canning for the first time this summer and would love to win an All American canner! Good luck everyone! 😊
Thank you Chelsea! You constantly amaze me by your energy and enthusiasm! I am relatively new to canning, so I’m going to take ALL tips and begin canning beans for my pantry. Love your videos! ❤️❤️❤️
I am already receiving your newsletter but just wanted to say thank you for offering this giveaway…for those of us who always borrow a canner when it is available, this seems like a huge gift opportunity. So, thank you for providing us a chance to receive a canner as a gift…WOW you all are amazing.
Those look amazing! I have never been one that liked beans, but I have recently discovered there are a few I really do enjoy! Black beans are one and butter beans are another! Thank you!
For those days when I am to busy to cook I have freezer meals casseroles bags of meat marinated to throw on the grill bags of cooked beef, chicken bacon etc I spend a day filling the freezer for when I'm busy, sick,or lazy😂 also make bread dough, biscuits etc freeze
Thank you Chelsea, I’m so looking forward to the giveaway ❤️ And thank you for teaching me how to can beans, you are so clear with your instructions! 😊
I thoroughly enjoy watching your channel. I'm a Homesteader wanna be Hoping to someday have a small farm. Lord willing. Raising twin 4year old boys at 59 years young.
I love how you cook big! Im just starting on my canning journey and you inspire me. I just signed up for the newsletter and it said the giveaway deadline was the 8th.😮 I hope it was a typo.😊
Ok.. I have to say, I was a big believer for the white colour for the upper cupboards,... But this saje green looks so good. I thought it'd darken the place, but yeah that's not the case.
Thanks for all the great info! It's so nice to have things on the shelf and ready to go! Also, I totally love your sign saying Remember, as far as everyone knows, we are a nice, normal family! Ha ha! That's awesome!
Great video as usual. I prefer canning beans the same way as you do . That is so nice of you doing an international draw as well. Good lucky everyone 🇨🇦🌷
I love bulk canning days but its certainly a lot of work. I'm intrigued by your roaster tip, about putting water under the insert - my roaster says to not do that.
I have a tip for you- take the lid off one side of the tomato paste- then use a can opener to the other lid- then just push that lid through the can and it all comes out in one shot- learned this from watching my Italian friends mothers making sauce
So glad to see this video. I just canned 7 pints of pork and beans. I just winged it but now know how to do it right. My dream is to have an All Ammercan pressure canner!
Thank you for showing this. For anyone who has not made home canned beans I will tell you they are so, so,so much better than store canned beans. They are delicious & you will likely find you eat them often. Can beans!,
Noticed that as you are removing your jars from the canner that you will tilt them at times to remove the water from the top, it is recommended that this practice is avoided as it could result in preventing a seal if any particles from inside seep under the lid. On another note, you are not pronouncing "pasta" wrong, as you said, you live in Canada and that is how it is said. We all have accents, regardless of where we live. When I went off to college, I was told I had an accent because of how I pronounced the word "car". My home town was only 125 miles north of the college!!!😅
Dear Chelsey, I love your video`s. This year i want to try to do some canning. Thank you for your recipes, you have such great ideas. your dinners are so looking good. Greetings from Luxemburg. Vivian.
You are an inspiration to me in the kitchen:) love. watching and I get so many great ideas:) I have been canning for over 20 years and love learning new techniques. Thank you for all your ideas. You are awesome!

Thank you.
Thank you!
You have such great videos so informative. Stay warm!
Chelsey, next time you use a can of tomato paste, try opening the can on both ends and then push the final lid through. No waste off your tomato paste or scraping.
That is a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing it.
That's the way I did it as well. Now I buy either the tube or the jar.
Genius! Thanks.
Clever!!!!!

I absolutely love watching you can. You explain it so well that even a beginner like me, feels at ease to start canning.

I need to look into that!
I hope I remember this for future canning. I hate mushy beans, but don't like to go against tested methods.

I wonder if this goes for canning them as well?
I laughed when I saw the parchment paper on the lid. My gallon sized jars are old also, so I put parchment paper on the lid too.
I do not know how you get so much done!!! I love your videos, great ideas lessons and examples both long and short term.
I learned a great tip about getting the tomato paste out of the can easily.....cut the lid off both ends, then using the lid at one end, push the whole can full of paste out the other. Works like a charm.

A super teaching video. I canned jars for the first time this winter and it’s good to be able to watch you and check what I’m doing.
I always add ginger to any beans I cook to cut down on the gas.
I live in TN in US I love the way you present your shows simple and easy to understand ,thank you for all you do!
One “glug” is about three “scooches”😊
I can year round since we love the convience of just opening a few jars for quick meals while having busy lives.
I LOVE it I see that your new bread machine/mixer has found its new Home!!
You are a great inspiration to me, love your videos and how you explain so much of what you are doing.

I love that you said “plan your dinner that canning day” I always do this. I found quickly I was tired and the last thing I wanted was to have to make dinner. ❤

49 jars of beans is awesome!! I am so tickled that we have the same bowls that you enjoyed your soup from!! Have a wonderful day!!
Use a pasta pan makes it easier to soak things.Just lift and it's just easier.
Thank you Chelsea! You constantly amaze me by your energy and enthusiasm! I am relatively new to canning, so I’m going to take ALL tips and begin canning beans for my pantry. Love your videos! ❤️❤️❤️
I canned 3 different kinds of beans for the first time this year. A qonderful, versatile and flavorful addition to the pantry!
I love having beans on the shelf. I do it as a single ingredient and others seasoned. It just makes life so much easier for any meal.
I love watching you cook and garden u remind me so much of my late mom thank u for sharing with us ..
Chelsea, you are the absolute best!! Thank you for always being so helpful and supportive ❤

Great presentation 👍💖👵🏻❣️
I've always wanted an all American canner.

I love your videos! They inspire me to do more! Thanks for showing the older recipes.
Read up on flat sour if you leave jars in hot canner too long…really enjoy your show…❤
Yes, they need to be taken out fairly quickly after the pressure comes all the way down.
Thanks for another great video! What an awesome giveaway. A pressure canner! Woohoo!
You are so funny. You’ve been canning an awful lot this winter after saying you would take a break 😂
Those look amazing! I have never been one that liked beans, but I have recently discovered there are a few I really do enjoy! Black beans are one and butter beans are another! Thank you!
Those lids on your gallon jars can be sprayed painted your choice of colors that would go with your pantry.

Love seeing folks share how food prep was done in the past. Haven’t canned in a few years but definitely will be doing it again soon!
Awesome job! One jar broken is totally acceptable and more than often expected.
As I can't get beef, I would use pork shoulder in the stew. Yum!
I have used so many of your videos to help me can! Canning is life!!
I'm in Manitoba Canada and love watching your videos. We also homestead and love canning dried beans in the winter months when I have more down time.
I’d love a pressure canner so much. I only water bath because they are so expensive for me. Good luck everyone!
Love your videos. There is so much info. I’ve been canning for years. Always something new to learn! So thank you Chelsea 💗.
Thanks for this education on Pressure Canning, it makes me so nervous 😬
Pro tip for the tomato paste- open both sides with the can opener and then just push it out!
Thank you Chelsea for the great video on how to can beans. Alberta neighbour here.
You should build a class and let people buy it. Full range of canning options. Would be amazing and make passive income.
Thank you Chelsea, I’m so looking forward to the giveaway ❤️
