I've always been a huge fan of Benedict and his work. My respect for Benedict as himself just went through the roof. This is such a lovely story Adam, thank you for sharing it x
I've loved Benedict since the first time I saw him! How thrilling for you! Good things come to good people. We think we know the kind of person a celebrity is from their work, appearances on talk shows, etc. But it's something like this that really reveals their character. Nice to know someone of whom Im such a fan is a true class act.
There's always obligatory thinking you shouldn't have share a private letter, but I disagree here. It would be a crime to have not shared such inspirational responses. I'm also a huge Benedict fan, and I'm guessing he was moved and charmed by your sincerity and old fashioned letter.
What a fantastic story ! I always thought Benedict Cumberbatch is not only a great actor but also a lovely person and this confirms it. We saw hisHamlet at the Barbican some years ago (front row seats): it was terrific... I think the best of the five Hamlet productions I have been... he really is great actor...and in Frankenstein recently, where he and another actor alternated nightly between playing Frankenstein and the monster... as the monster he gave an incredible tour de force of physical acting... (I didn't see the version where he played Frankenstein)
The last part of the reply, literally made me cry. wow! I always respected this man since I found out about him after watching sherlock. meet him in person one day is one of my biggest dream. You were so lucky to get a reply letter!! Benedict Cumberbatch is not only a great actor but also one of the nicest celerity ever!! And I'm soooo happy for you!!
I’ve loved Benedict C so much and I have for years! I’ve always wanted to just sit somewhere comfortable and chat with him. I love his acting, his looks, his mind, and his character. He just seems real and genuine, kind and well-spoken. I appreciate you sharing this because I, too have always felt the same way about him. You want to behave properly but you also want to make a connection and you may never get such a chance again. Thanks so much for sharing this!
Be recognized and chat with Aurora, now getting replys from "Sherlock Holmes"... living the dream.... SO happy for you! - I have told you this before; you are a big part of my discovering Aurora, and espesially developing the curiosity about what is behind the songs. She has become the biggest artist of my life, and she has changed me. Your way of approaching the music is an insperation to me! Thx Adam!
That has to be one of the most polite ways to do it. "Knowing" you from the w&w I am not surprised you found the perfect way to approach without disturbing. (Aurora was in Royal Albert Hall yesterday btw, for the second time ever they let the organ "roar" at full blast)
I think if I saw you , i would have the same reaction!! I love your posts and reaction videos as well. The best things in life are the unexpected and kindness of others. I worked in the travel industry many years ago. Some of my fondest memories were encounters with celebrities. Thanks for sharing your story.
Great story. Reminds me that I wrote Ronald Reagan when I was a teenager and before he was president. He, too, actually wrote a personal letter back in return.
Oh my goodness! What a story! This may sound made up, but I really had a dream one night, just a few months ago, that I met Benedict while on a bus (may be) travelling somewhere, and we spoke and then exchanged letters! So my friend, you lived my dream!! 😊 And I feel the very same way about Benedict as you described! Such a rare superlative talent! And believe me, I'm also not the kind to go crazy seeing celebrities, bothering them or wanting a photo with them either. This story put a smile on my face while I teared up! Benedict seems to be exactly the kind of person that he comes across as, in his work, and in his interviews. Thank you for sharing!! I do hope you get to work with him someday! ❤️❤️
Where I grew up , seeing well know people was not a rare thing. It was handy for several film studios, the West End and Heathrow. Generally we all left them alone and I think that is right. A look of recognition is oft appreciated, as an acknowledgement but no more.

I think the reason that your risk paid off was the fact you wrote him a LETTER! the man LOVES letters! he runs an event dedicated to them!
