- Another of Luther's classics performed. As always the backing vocals are dynamite as well.

2024 master piece classic who listening
God I miss you Luther.. The Greatest male singer in the world!!!
Possibly the greatest love song ever recorded.. "Wait For Love...
Yess
The greatest baby!!!!!!!! Can't nobody and I mean Nobody sing it like Luther.... Miss you sooo much Luther.... You are gone but your will never be forgotten.... Rest in paradise
simple as that
One of the great singers.
Luther, Lisa Fischer, Ava Cherry and Kevin Owens... flawless!
thanks for that! I was wondering who the others were!
Kevin Owens is indeed a great wrestler
Hi Tim - just to let you know, Ava Cherry wasn't onstage with Lisa Fischer, Kevin Owens and Luther that night or for the rest of that week of gigs at Wembley. Alfa Anderson (of Chic) deputised for her all that week. Paulette McWilliams was there too, but offstage in the dugout with the band. Ava's name was actually in the tour programme, but Alfa performed in her place, certainly for that week - not sure about the rest of the European tour that year. Ava did (triumphantly) appear at Wembley with Luther and his gang just a couple of years later in 1989 and she was awesome. I believe Ava then did every other UK and Wembley gig with Luther afterwards, until he changed his whole band sometime in the mid 2000s. Indeed, as you say, Lisa, Ava, Kevin (and all of Luther's BVs over the years) were flawless.
#LoveLutherRIP
No Ava Cherry, I think the one with the blonde hair is Alfa Anderson.
Alfa is on this tour. She'd been touring with luther since chic disbanded. 1987 was her last tour. Ava periodically toured also with Luther initially, but after Alfa left became more permanent, but Alfa was his day one. (As is ava)
I know this first hand be sure Alfa is my godmother and Luther was very close to us even before change. In fact, I've been to over 25 shows, all courtesy of Luther. Alfa and Luther toured together before Alfa was lead singer for chic.
Now this is real music here
Man...
The beauty of this song brings tears to my eyes !!! This man was the best vocalist of my time !!!
Luther SUNG the lyrics with conviction and made you believe he believed it
I listen to this song often, the entire concert was fabulous. ❤
“STOP! ...... WAIT A MINUTE! ...... WAIT!" Lol. Amen.
They killed that part!
I wasn't ready!!! 😂 💞💞💞☝💥
Luther always had the "BEST" back-up singers.
Yes, indeed! Who were the beauties in this set?
A master class in singing and feeling the song. Yup...watching and learning in 2024!
2019???????????????????????????? Who’s still listening to this legend watching?
2020
2020 and beyond
2020
2020!
2024 I am!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I so wish I had the opportunity to see Luther when he was with us...I miss him so much!
Cheryl Carmichael I saw him at age 14 for the bad boy tour. That concert blew my mind. If ever I could sing I'd would love to sound like him.
Me too, my dad sister is a huge Luther fan I would have loved to have taken her to a Luther concert. I believe if he was still alive he would have started a big tour.
I do also
Omg same. Him and Gerald Levert I wouldve loved to see live
I was also lucky enough to speak to him on a one to one, I stopped him in Berkeley Street in London when he was doing his 1987 tour at Wembley. I’d seen him in concert a few days before and there I was chatting to the great man. I got his autograph and it’s been in a frame ever since.
This song makes me cry happy tears.
Damn … I miss Luther V so much .. I remember the day he was called on to glory, I cried like a baby. His music still has an amazing effect on me & I’ll never forget him.
I remember the day he passed too...I called my mama feeling like a member of my family had passed... But that's Luther...He meant to black people what the pope means to the catholics... This what Steve Harvey said..And he was right... Black people love us some Luther
I seriously have tears in my eyes that are so mezmorized by this they can't even come out.
He was a private person, He will be always be a Legend. May he Rest In Peace.!!!
Luther is [was] so bad, there haven't been anyone coming behind him who could touch him! Live, sitting down, standing up, doesn't matter! God rest his soul.
God rest his soul.✨🙏🏽✨
Very good.
Absolutely beautiful agree I think I’ve liked most of the comments I have listened to it so often 😂 very little today has the staying power of Luther Vandross!❤
Omg this was such a cute performance! Of course we know Luther could sing, he may have been the rarest rose in that regard but can can we talk about his leading man’s looks? No matter his size he had beautiful features and that dark black hair? Whew! Luther was the full package. What a talent! What a talent! ⭐️✨
Gorgeous!
Luther Vandross was the whole package. His voice and looks were very beautiful.
Classic
Yes I was kinda in my feelins when Ruben Studdard didn't want to sing or be compared to the late great Luther. Tho I always speculated it as because of homosexuality accusations of both of them..bt still felt he had the potential to b rite up there wit Luther
Super stunning! Love Luther!
I was lucky enough to see the king 13 times and everytime he left me speechless and wanting more, he was pure class, in my opinion the greatest male singer that has ever lived! Superstar live at wembley in 88-89 was the pinacle of the performances that I witnessed, there's a note he hits in superstar that is flawless it's near the end of the song when he is singing "your love was impossible" he then sings one note yea, airrrrrrrrrrr, that note just hits one to the core, it was a privilege being there that night, it was the show that was recorded and is available on dvd!
Wwwoooowwww!!!!
I was there too! Brilliant performance ❤️
I saw him about 7 times and miss his concerts so much. Anyone who didn’t see him live will never know how lucky we were.
I was there too, April 1989, the first of five times I saw Luther at Wembley! So true, he was the greatest of all time, there is no-one that even comes close to his vocal artistry and production - his rendition of Superstar at Wembley 89 is sensational 👍👏
Yes. He was the best.
This song means so damn much to me!! And this live performance is just about everything!! Yes lawd🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's my Baby!!!! Luther--THE Greatest Male R&B Singer PERIOD!!!!! And the Greatest Background Vocalist EVER!!!! The Ultimate Performer who ALWAYS gave you your money's worth!!! He never disappointed! I miss you LUTHER!!!
To have witnessed this live I'm sure was amazing
",stop! Wait a minute", genius!!!
I was raised on listening to Luther Vandross. His music never gets old. Always and forever team Luther V
This

I know this song is true.because I waited so many years for a real, true pure love and finally found it. All I can say is what a feeling
Growing up we listened to Luther every Saturday while doing our chores..... decades later, I still bop to him 🎙🎶
I must tell you..whenever this man was on tour. I was in the house . I worked for a company who provided all sorts of goodies for their employees..fortunately I was able to see him each and every time and what a treat it , I still wish he was still here..Luther sang songs that made sense..his music tugged at the heart strings...love him, miss him...and I thank him for putting out such GREAT GREAT music..
You are very lucky. I saw him once and MSG and it was all I needed, though I'd see him every time if I could. What a show...most unforgettable.
Right before I met my husband, I was obsessed with this song. I kept it in heavy rotation. Now when I listen to it I get all verklempt. And please get into the bedazzled eleganza! I know we all miss big and little Luther.
One of my favorite "Luther" romantic smoothies...
One of the greatest singers
What's so amazing about this is that, if you listen carefully, you can clearly hear that Luther is battling a sore throat or something yet he still sounds absolutely fantastic.
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Impeccable voice. Could not be touched by any other. Missed sorely
I STILL can’t believe he’s gone. Luv u, Luther.
I still remember when I was 14 moms got tickets to see Luther at Symphony Hall in Newark, NJ. Greatest day in my life. Glad I grew up on his music. Thanks for the hit R.I.H!
All these years later and I get goosebumps when I watch and listen..
❤
So sad that there is such a true song about Love necessary to show what it is all about
When you wait for love, and the love you’ve been missing was inside.
capricorns1st He didn't say where he just said wait. Lol song could be for yourself.

2:34-2:35 is my favorite part!! LOL!! Go Luther Vandross! He is missed so much!
It’s the story telling for me in that part, it feels like so personal 💯
they give me SO much life at 4:22. may he rest in peace
+Shateama Mays I feel you on 4:22.
I saw this musical genius 4 times. Every show was a masterpiece. Luther was a perfectionist and his shows were events. People were dressed to impress at his shows. Men in best suits, women in their most flyest outfit. RIP Luther!
This man had an amazing gift!!! They set it off with the WAIT! Simple move with a major effect.
Maybe one of the greatest quest to find love we will ever hear.
I totally agree
2020 Anyone?? 👉And I Ain't here because of Covid🤷🏽♀️😂
This man's performances are flawless... even in his own various improvisation. I have no words to express how much he is missed on the male vocal scene. And check out the little choreography towards the completion of this classic ...only 'little Luther' could've pulled it off convincingly. I've witnessed this show a number of times personally in various cites & venues. It's Luther time, y'all.
I love Luther. I saw him so many times. I know all of his songs. He is so smooth. I miss him.
If Luther was still here I would happily eat beans on toast and stick to a meager diet for a month just to save and buy a ticket just to see the legend that is mr Luther vandross live....
If we could see him one more time. You coming with me . I got ya ticket 🎫 💯💯❤️🌹
Such an amazing gifted singer and entertainer....a legend His music will last always 🎶🎵💜❤
OMG....Love this one too... I just keep saying that on EVERYONE of Luther's Songs.. I can't help it... It was soo super awesome
The voice of many generations. Not to be matched by another other. Love this man.

What a voice. ❤
I loved luther so much back in the day ❤
2023 we still here Luther !!!
I first saw Luther at the Hammersmith Odeon were tickets sold out in hours. I remember the queuing to get in round the block. After that I then went to this Wembley show as I lived in Wembley and had to see it. Great Man, Great singer, Great artist, Great musician and great showman. Shout out to backing singers, Marcus Miller and Nat Adderley Junior
So glad my auntie and my mother played all the oldies but goodies for me got her forever keep an old soul.
87. the year I was born. luther is my 🐐
Can't be topped!
From watching a number of videos of Luther lately, it seems that it was around this timeframe ('86-87-ish) that he appeared to be in his prime, looking fabulous and sounding amazing. This was also the same timeframe when he delivered what is arguably, the best performance of his career, when he sang A House is Not a Home, at the 19th annual NAACP Image awards.
Nothing hurt as bad as when you see you gave up to easily
This song really encouraged me today! God bless Luther Vandross♥️🙏🏽
I love how they stayed right within what they recorded in the studio...super nice. Some artists get out of their music and you wonder 🤔 who are they?
I was Fortunate to see this man in San Diego California at the cool jazz festival totally unbelievable
Marcus Miller bass line in the breakdown. Fire!
That is my godfather... Tinkr Barfield on bass. Marcus Miller never toured with Luther. Up until 87, Tinkr Barfield was his touring bass player.
One in a million. No one like Luther Vandross ❤
My favorite song by Luther.
“A dream that kept me wishing that u could be mine”🙏
I will wait for ❤️🥰😘Gorgeous!!🙏

The "farmer" he could milk a song in concert! But was at times spectacular. Did not see another as good until a John Legend concert in Detroit.
Pure excellence!

1987 London. I had the pleasure of being there. Lived in Germany at the time. Love this man. Sad that his perceived lifestyle stopped producers from getting him the recognition he so deserved. RIP friend.
All time favorite singer, song, and timeless message! I miss going to his concerts :[ he was a true legend
