Inspirational! Just ordered a abu cardinal combo, chomping at the bit to get out on the cut with it. Just started fishing again after a long break & 60 miles of canal on the doorstep. Your enthusiasm is addictive. Cheers.
Honestly mate, i've been fishing a long time but i've never seen anyone with your level of finesse when lure fishing. The tiny delicate movements of the lure and the pauses and twitches make it seem like you have a sixth sense of when the fish are about to take it. Amazing. I've had Pike to 26lb on lures but i've learnt loads from you.
I was literally searching your channel all day yesterday and today cause i knew this video was coming..im struggling with perch so thanks for the tips and also really well done on those big monsters.
What a chunk of a perch that was, well worth the day out alone. And a few Jacks for good measure. I would take them all day on a freezing winters morning. Keep 'Em Coming.
This is hard to believe. About 10 years ago, I caught a little Jack Pike about 6 inches long, as I was reeling it in, a 4 lb perch come, and swallowed the pike hole.. never happened since I've caught perch and had Pike come and swallow them lol..
When I was 13(1983) I got fish of the month in Angling Times for a 3lb 1oz Perch that I caught in Lincolnshire dead baiting for Pike on holiday. I've since caught many different fish including my biggest - a 108kg(238lb) Striped Marlin. But my 3lb 1oz Perch is the fish I remember the most
Just fantastic mate some awesome underwater footage, and what a pair of clonking stripeys. Thanks for taking the time and trouble for editing and uploading.💪👍🎣
I've been out fishing a few times now during the winter (8 times to be exact) and also yesterday to local lake and I've caught F all each time. I'm not going out again until its at least 15 degrees.
In my area we have alot of smaller to mid size damns for the steel mills. They are loaded with tons of perch. We catch most of them suspended in deep water. Usually suspended between 20 and 40 feet in 60 to 80 feet deep water. Use depth bobbers and creek chubs. Sometimes jigg heads with chubs also. Thease perch are usually about 14inches and fat like footballs. Its crazy cuz they travel in massive schools. Also catch alot of big trout suspended in deep water.
It’s so frustrating how good you are, I have been predatory fishing in canals and rivers even reservoirs have spent hundreds on lures and gear and have only ever caught 1 jack after months of weekly trips if you age any advice that would be amazing because it seems like the fishing gods just don’t like me 😂
See I used a different system to find and then target big perch. I cast a very light link ledger with a worm on a small hook on an extremely light tip rod. This is cast around the clock every 5 minutes in a swim until I see a rattle on the tip. The purpose of this is just for searching, not to hook up. If there is a rattle, the float rod comes out and I invest some time getting through them on the float and worm (so hard to connect with them on the top). If no rattles come after searching the swim, I move. I find there is always a rattle on the worm and tip if there are Perch about, regardless of weather or time of day. They just can’t resist. Then you find out if a big one is home on the float with a lobworm. Any big perch in the shoal will generally find that lobworm first. I’ve landed 11 big perch ranging from 1lb1oz to 2lb 9oz off the canal in this manner this winter, even in the worst days of weather
Brilliant video as we have come to expect from GF, I agree one of the best channels on UA-cam. The waters you fish seem in pristine condition. interested to know if you have any concerns about the condition of the rivers/ canals you fish due to pollution? asking only after watching Paul Whitehouse's documentary on the state of rivers in the UK, which was worrying.
What an awesome brace of perch! I can't find anything over a pound but I reckon I might try some creature baits on the canal when the river season finishes. My local river's lots of fun at the moment.
Whats the opinions on lure fishing using mono or flouro knowing pike are a possibilty. Tried a white paddle tail hoping for chub, had nice trout then hooked a big pike which ended in it biting through line..
do you not often get bit off when using fluro with pike in the waters? I use a thin wire trace myself to avoid getting bit off ever since I lost a very nice pike on a light set up trying to go for perch
Excellent fishing Chris as always ....ill be honest last couple of weeks been really struggling using exactly the same methods as yourself with small weedless creature baits even with nail weights a bit of perch jesus style fishing the cold weather snap has put fish into lock down on the canal where i live afloat getting colder next week hahah I'm blaming the weather always fantastic to see u catch m8 and makes me wonna do it some more ...thank you 👍🐳🎣👍
Creature baits are the way forward for the big perch , brilliant videos …would have been great to have known the weight of this last fish 😂keep up the great work 👍
Great vid ginger👏 whats the berkley sick like? I am looking for a new flourocarbon. Dont listen to them fish police m8. Keep making these great vids. Tell your Dom the spin master said hello m8 🎣
You're fishing is unbelievable! Do you think having wire traces of any sort spook fish and get less bites? Unless targeting pike stick to a flourocarbon? Thanks in advance
I can’t believe how quick you catch on a lure I’ve been lure fishing the river seven for a year now with a lure and I’ve only had 3 Tiddler Pike I must be the worst fisherman ever 🤣
How on earth did you not get bitten off on that pike, I have that same sick 8lb flouro and I'm scared to use it in the canals near me but I'm not catching F all with a steel leader
Hi mate I've fished for about 15 year an don't usually do 2 bad I've been watching your videos where I've genuinely learnt an picked up alot of tricks and was wondering if you could give me some advice as I've recently moved a couple month back an found a new canal and river which I've been hitting once or twice a week I've not seen anybody else fishing these stretches an it's only produced 4 Jack's on soft jellys which I've stopped braids from light to heavy even stopped to standard line as a friend said they could be line shy if its not fished much I've stopped between a range of lures and spinners jerk baits ect I've even starting stepping back an squatting out of sight when retrieving at different speeds and depths but really not having any look I took my friend today who's been fishing a good 20 year more than me to still draw a blank we spent 7 hrs at it to get nothing not even a perch we've had a little go for the course fish to still draw a blank the only method we've not tried is dead bait so just wondered if you have any tips for me as I've learnt alot from your videos which I watch all the time and love how you think about the fish/ environment an not like most others I've seen and just all about the catch regardless if the hurt the fish or environment at the moment the water is pretty clear full of potential plenty of vegetation over hung trees fallen trees ect not much boat activity either tbh and the fish are there just not biting you'll get 1 in a blue moon same as a chase but once they see you that's it you don't see them again I've had 3 small Jack's an a jack around 3/4lb which had wounds from a bigger 1 just below the head and towards end of tail so and help advice would be much appreciated buddy as your knowledge and expertise over welms me many thanks
We call them reddies down here and they're great eating. Do you eat any at all? They school up in the lakes here and people catch 100 at a time. cheers from down under.
I’m a carp angler and I wanted to give lyre fishing a go. I asked my partner for a spinning rod for Xmas and she got me a shimano catana, thing is , it’s 10’ long! What kind of lure fishing requires a 10’ rod??
deep water lake trolling for arctic char. Think thats done with long rods. (very specific- and not really lure fishing like lure fishing, even if it uses lures...i know.)

Ripper Chris, time and dedication of reading waters and knowing what rig to use puts you up there with the very best.
Easily one of the best UA-cam fishing channels out there , unreal regular content 🎉 motivates me every time to get out on the bank
If you can't call yourself a perch expert then I don't know who can! Great video as usual Chris! Keep em coming!
I was literally searching your channel all day yesterday and today cause i knew this video was coming..im struggling with perch so thanks for the tips and also really well done on those big monsters.
Well, that's just ruined my Sunday! I was supposed to be working on my bathroom, looks like I'm off fishing now. 🎣🎣
Omg Chris what a great pair of perch. Well done..
What a chunk of a perch that was, well worth the day out alone. And a few Jacks for good measure. I would take them all day on a freezing winters morning. Keep 'Em Coming.

Patience is a virtue ,keep on the hunt the rewards are plain to see !

Love those baits and that presentation. I think smallies here in Tennessee will as well!
Stoked to come across your videos. Straight forward fishing with some killer tips and no gimmicks. Thanks for the content!

What a cracking perch. I put that at minimum 3lb 8oz.👍
Gotta eat those blanks on the canal. My best advice is find the areas where baitfish hang out.
What a pair of chunks, well done Chris!
Love you m8youve got me back on the bank after 2 years ❤️
Just fantastic mate some awesome underwater footage, and what a pair of clonking stripeys. Thanks for taking the time and trouble for editing and uploading.💪👍🎣
Great video. Great editing (which takes time, so thank you -- it's worth it). I'd be ecstatic with a jack pike, let alone a monster Perch!
Just got into lure fishing this year for perch (micro lures) and absolutely loving your videos 👍

I've been out fishing a few times now during the winter (8 times to be exact) and also yesterday to local lake and I've caught F all each time. I'm not going out again until its at least 15 degrees.
Could you recommend a rod for small perch using ultralight lures? Thanks
Beauty that chris, well played
Man you have so good vibe, we can say that you are nice person behind the camera :)
Great fish...
OH you are indeed an expert perch angler
You and tackle lol if folk follow you around they will have enough stuff to open a shop with!

Excellent video, like when you talk about your tackle you use 😀
Definitely three what a fish I'm jealous!
Really nice fish. Their bellies are full off eggs at this time of year which is why they are so gutty. Love your channel btw
Fantastic fish well done mate
Superb fish , great video again,,
Great work Chris...any chance letting us know where the canal is?
Brilliant video as we have come to expect from GF, I agree one of the best channels on UA-cam.

Do you ever fish bigger lakes? it's a more difficult challenge trying these methods on a big body of water from the bank, especially at winter time.
Hey there, what is the fish landing that you are using?
Gets a like before I've even watched it best angling channel on UA-cam
superb fishing.
Hi pal. What is landing net you're using in this video.
Snygg abborre alltid lika trevliga videos. 👍👍👍
Excellent fishing Chris as always ....ill be honest last couple of weeks been really struggling using exactly the same methods as yourself with small weedless creature baits even with nail weights a bit of perch jesus style fishing the cold weather snap has put fish into lock down on the canal where i live afloat getting colder next week hahah I'm blaming the weather always fantastic to see u catch m8 and makes me wonna do it some more ...thank you 👍🐳🎣👍
Hi can i ask what you are using for the audio on your videos/gopro
Sorry to bother you, is there a main dealer for Berkley lures in the UK? As I can't find the Sick Bug anywhere .
Nice as always 👌 ..could you please let me know what canal/river is this .? Thank you 🙏
Fantastic couple of perch but that rod/reel combo is so expensive!! List price well over 400 quid.
Creature baits are the way forward for the big perch , brilliant videos …would have been great to have known the weight of this last fish 😂keep up the great work 👍
I must have watched all your videos and am always impressed by the quality of the video. What Go Pro are you using??
Nice one chris 👍
Cant believe you & your scales tho 😝
Great vid ginger👏 whats the berkley sick like? I am looking for a new flourocarbon. Dont listen to them fish police m8. Keep making these great vids. Tell your Dom the spin master said hello m8 🎣

Good video 👍🏻
Amazing video🎣😄
I can’t believe how quick you catch on a lure I’ve been lure fishing the river seven for a year now with a lure and I’ve only had 3 Tiddler Pike I must be the worst fisherman ever 🤣
How on earth did you not get bitten off on that pike, I have that same sick 8lb flouro and I'm scared to use it in the canals near me but I'm not catching F all with a steel leader
You can see the bottom of the canal everywhere now near me, the weed has filtered the hell out of it.
I have found using a float fished live minnow a killer for big perch.
Lovely perch, thanks for the video. Which canal are you fishing?

What canal are you fishing ??
First time watcher from Minnesota , great looking fish , have you ever caught a shopping cart ?😃👍👍
Not heard of that one ??
Great vid
How do u rate the spike reel? Thinking about getting one for my pike rod
Really nice buddy. That Spike range is 🔥
You obviously live near me I recognise the canal and river swims
I’m a carp angler and I wanted to give lyre fishing a go. I asked my partner for a spinning rod for Xmas and she got me a shimano catana, thing is , it’s 10’ long! What kind of lure fishing requires a 10’ rod??
