I fished my canal all autumn into winter once and got a single perch around a poundish. Tried float fishing and had two over 1lb 3oz on my first try. 😂
I’ve been fishing for like a couple years now but most canals are scarce on pike these days and the ones around tend to be small jacks. So I took up the small scaled down approach to catch and started my perch journey absolutely loved it so far.

Hi been watching your videos for some time .they actually inspire me to go jigging for perch . Im having trouble with the 1000s of lures available. Can you put me in the right direction with a few examples to give me confidence to build from please .as i am struggling and changing lures to often as i dont know what works etc . Many thanks Sam

That’s the Korum snapper net, discontinued now but you can still find a few for sale. Korum still make their telescopic handles though, just not with snapper branding on them. I can highly recommend either the opportunist handles or the new Allrounder ones 👍🏻
It doesn't matter what I do, I rarely get anything that size on my local cut. There's some bigguns in there, but the biggest I get, and we're talking below 1lb, are on a Ned rig or a spinner. Any tips?
I know the exact spot that came from, there’s a perch hole there 😂. Surprised there’s still a 3 in there, the poachers are there regularly with nets sprawled across the pound
Regarding the bits of man made fibre you found, do you collect them and dispose of them or leave them where they are? Would be good if all UA-cam anglers could be roles models in teaching people to get rid of rubbish they find. Thanks for the great content.

I have found that the smaller perch will back off a bit as it gets colder. You’ll get fewer bites but more chance of a biggun! Keeping going mate!! 👍👍
