As a Black nonbinary person, I have a complicated-ass relationship with androgyny, the pressure to be androgynous, and how white and thin and inaccessible it has always felt to me, so I cannot say how much I appreciate this channel. It has actual applicable and general advice, you break things down in a way that can apply to multiple people instead of just telling people to wear a button down and slacks, and your advice also incorporates some femininity and isn't afraid of having those moments or wanting to be pretty. It's just a whole vibe! I just cleaned out my closet last night and this video dropped today, things are lining up.

@@selfsurrender This is late but I wanted to say that Black and POC goths are everything and every time I'm privilaged enough to see one it makes my day better. You being a goth matters and is so valuable to all the Black and melanated kids and adults who want to express themselves in a new and unique way. It's hard and easy to feel discouraged when you never see yourself, but know that people see and love you and your style.

"Be yourself" honestly when i came out as nonbinary a couple of years ago I really needed to hear that !! I was so torn on how i was supposed to present mostly cause i didn't feel like i could ever present as the typical white skinny androgynous look due to my body shape! I spent years exploring more masculine styles and cuts until I finally found what felt the most comfortable and me which was really combining very feminine colors (i've found a new love for pink and pastels) with more masculine cuts. I'm now able to really combine my feminine and masculine sides in a style that feels so right and perfect for me!! This video and channel is just perfection I wish i could have found this when i came out :)

  • @kayreece96

As an androgynous person, internally and externally, I've had top surgery. But i used to wear binders (recommend GC2B) or sports bras or nothing. Something you could try if you're small chested enough to not have obvious cleavage, I'd recommend for the show some skin bit for a masc look, try a mens button up w some exposed chest (like a vacation shirt or something esp during summer) and pair that with a necklace to add a lil bit "femininity" OH and typically thinner jewelery is read as fem and chunkier jewelry as masc.
Also now that shorter shorts for men are in style it's much easier if you do want to show some leg to not have to do it in such a feminine way. I usually get right above the knee and some of my swim trunks are a tad shorter but then a kinda oversized mens shirt to add some flow and drape. That also helps so that the whole outfit isnt seeming too fitted which can come off as maybe too feminine depending on your body type.
Also if you want to have a crop top moment, id recommend doing so w mens jeans. You can pull em up w a belt or let em sag a bit and maybe even have an exposed boxer band moment. Depending on which direction you wanna lean more towards w the fem and masc expressions.
Just trying to leave some helpful examples that hopefully different body types can play around with.

I've got the same issue, and honestly I've just started incorporating my less beat up work pants, which are nice breathable but durable fabrics into my daily outfits and it's worked surprisingly well. You definitely have to have a fairly rugged, casual-leaning style to make it work, but if you can, it's super comfy in the heat while still looking kickass and boxy.

Tip, maybe, about dressing both masc and femme. I really really like putting outfits together to look pretty masculine on the top and feminine on the bottom (or the other way around of course). Like I love wearing dresses and skirts, and making the top half more masculine really does it for me at least. I also have short more masculine hair and a feminine face so yeah, that’s just how I like to do it. I also like wearing masculine outfits with makeup on and more feminine accessories and stuff. I do really wanna be able to dress fully feminine though(like a flowy dress with a floral pattern or something) as an afab person, and still be able to confuse people about my gender. Like I really wanna be able to do that but it just seems so hard if not impossible so if anyone has some tips about that that would be really helpful

I love this channel (and your content in general, even though I lean more stem). It's so nice because I too am... blessed in the chest area (as the older ladies in church would call it) and it's often super frustrating to find clothing that fits me how I like while not emphasizing the ladies.
Question: Would you be open to doing a video of 'styling dupes' for some of the higher end clothes you've showcased in the past? A lot of the things my brain says yes please while my wallet gives me no no no.

Me, being a black African american androgynous person. My mother and I have different views on fashion i like to adventure out into new aesthetics and she prefers to stay in the box of feminine clothing.

Do you have any tips for workwear? I’m non binary and any kind of formal clothing is really difficult for me cause the things that fit my body tend to be stereotypically more femme and I hate it

Try mens wear pants with a womens blouse. Wear a vest with it with sensible shoes which are better for your feet. Or maybe try a knit hoodie. Shop both sections.

Thank you so much vor this vid! Everyone in my family wants me to dress feminine but I've never felt confortable doing this - nor have I felt confortable being only masculine (I don't know if that's a consequence of the male gaze or my height). Anyway, thanks

I'm agender, and I've been putting together a style that I can feel comfortable with, I'm still in process. First to go was skirts, frills, fem shirts, heels, pink nail polish, perfume, a new makeup look, then hair...I'm hoping that your video has more answers 😊

"Challenge what people perceive as beauty":
The number of times I was mamed at work both cracks me up feel sad for people as I was wearing my mask and always sport a beard.
As a former missionary with right side hemiplegia, it's kinda hard to be unnoticed. It's always best to have your wits sharp as a tack and challenge pea brains ideas. The same way I tell people who commend me for being a cashier while others rather sit at home. As I flip the script on what should be expected of everyone. It's just endemic of a grander problem in how we characterize disability in our culture.
Don't ask the question even though you're clearly staring or curious. If anyone is uncomfortable with a topic they'll tell you. Asking about a scar is no different than complimenting/inquiring about tattoos. You never know what friendships you gain from having open discourse.
