And if you was to wake up at 10am maybe even later, that's over 12 hours without any of the things I mentioned earlier

      @Fabrice null Your metabolism is at its lowest between 1-3am... Having rice, a very very starchy food with high carbs is the last thing you should eat late at night... When your metabolism is low, your body gets 'lazy' and doesn't break down the food normally and a MUCH higher percentage of anything you eat really, just gets stored as fat. "I don't believe when people say"--- that's just ignorance AND arrogance right there but hey, it's your body.

    I got diagnosed with sleep apnea recently. For years I was angry and frustrated why I was not making progress in the gym while buying expensive supplements, I even hired a personal trainer for my workouts at the gym and still was not enough. The I went to the sleep doctor to get checked and they prescribed me to use a CPAP machine since my sleep apnea was a severe case.
    Now I have been using the CPAP machine and my sleep quality was amazing and now I am seeing the gains I made in the gym in just 20 days.
    If you snore very load, please go to the doctor, sleep apnea is often ignored but it is a very dangerous condition.

    This speaks to me on so many levels. I was just wondering how sleep affects the gains and this is probably the answer. I work out 5-6 days a week. 1-2 hours every day and I don't seem to gain any muscles. I get stronger but not much progress in mass. Maybe I over trained because one time I was off the gym for like 4 days, came back and set a new record in military press. Did 3 on 154 pounds. But the more I trained, the more I had to go down in weights. Its like I became less strong. wtf. I sleep around 5-6 hours and Work alot but I do get much food. healthy food. I do all my meal preps. Never eat at a restaurant.

      why is 5hours not good ? man this is the obstacle i have for the gym, i only sleep like 4 hours or something and surprisingly its enough, I can get 8 hours of sleep however not from one time but as fragments, like i sleep at night for 4 hours then later in the day i can sleep another 3 or 4 hours again but normally i continue the day with 4 hours only without getting tired nor the need to sleep again

      I really believe as a lifter myself, unless you're an animal on steroids, nobody should be training 5-6 days a week. I do 4 days on, 3 off and I can promise you, I've achieved the SAME great gains as even I used to do 5-6 days a week. No sense in wearing yourself out because our bodies can only handle so many days, so much workout time, so many grams of protein, etc. Increasing all this for better or quicker gains only works mathematically but not biologically. This radical calories and protein and long hours in the gym teaching is bullshit

    Work nightshifts and developed insomnia.
    Fall asleep dead-tired, and would wake up two hours later with insane amount of energy that would only last a little while.
    Yeah you eat. You eat tons because your body didn't restore the energy you needed whilst sleeping.
    Do whatever it takes to keep going, in my case I'm ordering blackout curtains.
    Falling asleep staring off into the blue sky is beautiful and all, but it will kill you. Not even sleeping medication gave me a full 8 hours, but only a full 5 rather than 2 or 3.
    Music. When you're dead, there's nothing more you can do, and I'm on 3 days no sleep, and you gotta go in for that shift..
    Find a song.
    Find a song and believe in it. You can sleep afterwards, but if you can find a song to believe in, you can do anything.

    I have Tourette’s syndrome, and I’ve never been able to sleep because of my tics. I am a very light sleeper, and if I wake up my tics start back up and I cannot go back to sleep. Ever since 14yo when it all started I have suffered. A couple years ago a medication called Seroquel helped a lot, then my issues got worse and now I take Ambien as well to get by. I’ve done all the research I can to sleep the best I can and I do everything right. And so even though I work out all the time, I never see much progress. But it still helps a lot of course. Don’t be a fatty
    All these sleep problems have lead to other issues like hormone problems, memory problems, and even Schizophrenia now. Which is connected to brain inflammation, inflammation can be caused by lack of sleep. So, you guys do everything you can to get the sleep you need.

      1-5 reps is for strenght gains( u can lift higher cus of lower rep range) and 8-13 for muscle gains ( more reps so lower weight ofcourse)

    • @GermanLehmann98
      @GermanLehmann98 8 років тому +5

      Sorry man but no, it just doesnt work that way, the body doesnt know how much weight or how many reps you are lifting, the body responds to a stimulus and thats all there is to it. If you are gaining stength you are gaining muscle 99% of the time

    • @kwaad777
      @kwaad777 8 років тому

      dude the lower reps the more weight u can lift meaning you're body will adapt to lifting more weight witch in term will get you more strenght gains then muscle gains. Ur always gaining both but you can chose witch u want more

    • @GermanLehmann98
      @GermanLehmann98 8 років тому +2

      Here's the reality: pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1334/6243981/24458046/409323137.jpg
      CNS adaptations will obviously play a role on strenght and muscle gain, but unless you're an elite powerlifter like Brian Shaw, the difference for the ocassional lifter is not noticeable at all. Maybe the increase in blood pressure and the "pumps" you get in result of that will make you believe you are, but the body just recieves an stimulus (total work capacity matters, weight/reps/sets not so much) and responds to that by making the muscle grow, thus resulting in strenght gains

    I'm always working night shifts 5/9. And I always have to sleep during the day, so I could perform at my workplace. Do you have any advise as to how take minimal damage to health while working and sleeping like this? I really like your content btw.

    Man.... lack of sleep is 75% of my problem. I have a belly but not big anywhere else. Hard for me to gain muscle and probably more problems that i don't even realize. I'm now a subscriber. Cool video

      Yeah, you don't have a gut cos of lack of sleep, mate:
      It's the excess beer and pizza.
      Eat/drink less >>>> belly gets smaller.
