she likes mediocre movies like Pathaan, Jawan and Rocky but will criticise far better movies like Kaabil, Super 30 and Fighter. I think she hates Hrithik

In terms of quality Fighter is way better than Pathaan and War . Pathaan has some high points, chartbuster songs and above all mighty srk .
the action in War is more realistic. in fighter the terrorist get blasted 10 times and every times he stays alive. But thats the only minus point from me.

I disagree. The aerial action in Fighter is awesome! But Pathaan has much better-written dialogues and a terrifying villain, and Deepika is badass. Fighter was too dragged out and had too many forced comedy. Jim was a well-written villan with a proper story and you could understand where his evil comes from. But i will say Fughter is enjoyable

I am laughing at this review. Yeah this is not a perfect film , some dialogues were totally cringe but Compared to War and Pathaan, the emotional foundation of the film is leaps and bounds ahead. How can you say that the film doesn't have any emotional foundation??

@@raja-jl9os VFX and action is way ahead of Pathaan. VFX was done by international company who did VFX for Dune and James Bond film.
Performances of even supporting cast was very good. I thought why they cast Karan Grover and expected him to ham his way but no, he was also good. I think whoever made the trailer should be fired because it looks like a jingoistic/cheesy film in the trailer but those are just few moments and it shows Terrorist ideology bashing rather than Pakistan bashing jingoistic Gadar 2 type film.
@@roh2393 No we will not watch. It's based on jealousy , hate and ignorance toward Pakistan. Till today India didn't provide a proof of surgical or Balakot strikes. Imran Khan mocked it in his Newyork UN speech but Indian delegate didn't respond because in your own 3rd world countries one can lie 24/7 to gain vote but in international space, one can't. Foreign media will tear you apart. Secondly, Pakistani pilot was shown a kaala man with surma in his eyes and Indian pilot is hrthick when the reality is totally opposite. I bet Pakistan is shown a slum of India with indian green mosques and indian style holes wali skullcap. Hrthick and all Kapoor genes are from Pakistani regions. Those genes are not even 1% of India. The reality is that North Indians are 5 to 30 shades kaala and 10 to 30 phase Dravidian featured than Pakistanis. Our looking people are those who migrated from India in 1947 and they r not even 5% of Pak population.
Atleast War is still a way better movie than Pathaan.... Tiger Zinda Hai, Ek Tha Tiger these are good..... Bt Pathaan 😏😏😏....... Atleast TIGER 3 se better movie hai Pathaan

Fighter is a masterpiece, much much better than Pathan and War.
Indian cinema has a profound place of honour in the hearts of Pakistanis. As for the history of cinema in the subcontinent, it is sad, it is irresponsible to see actors of the caliber of Deepika and Hrithik, Anil Kapoor to essay roles for such shallow scripting.
Why the constant reference to Top Gun Anupama when so many are already unnecessarily doing it. They don't understand that Top Gun will always be a reference point for aviation flick genre no matter what, but why you???
When the film itself is inspired by Top Gun it will always act as yardstick. Dont feel ashamed about it champ

I always knew Anupama was biased but after this review, I've seriously lost respect for her opinions.
I have not seen Fighter. But Pathan scarred me for life... I'm scared to invest my time or interest in another SRK movie.

Why are you comparing Top Gun with Fighter ? The storyline is completely different. Tom Cruise was training for a mission. This was not that. You are so UNFAIR to FIGHTER by not even praising the dog fights and air combat scenes . They were done so well.
I appreciate her calling out the naming and shaming Pakistan. It was a shallow plot - there was no need to spread hatred in these vulnerable times. Indian cinema is heavily influential on its masses. Great VFX. Unfortunately, its the same old India-Pakistan tussle that drives the entire movie - something that the Indian audiences are tired off. This movie will surely struggle to break even.
Her review is flawed.. fighter is superior to both War and Pathan… in every sense.. Deepika backstory could have been avoided and a bigger villain could have added to the intensity… that’s all .. movie is a spectacular

I get the feeling that most of the pakistani soldiers in this movie keep forgetting what country they are from, and have to be reminded again and again.
The movie is anything but shallow . The climax dialogues are not convincing enough but the rest of the movie is actually quite good. The guy who played the villain wasn't as bad an actor as you described. You can't compare everything with Top gun just because both are air force movies . The plot is entirely different...so, this is a very shallow and biased review
Overall this movie is great and a must watch in theater. The trailer does not do justice to it . Plus comparing this movie to topgun is not affair because that movie must have been made on a 10 times bigger budget.
Just watched Fighter and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. The movie is really good. Very well acted and directed. It’s very slick and the VFX are superb. It’s a great mix of actual scenes of Fighter jets and VFX. It’s a very modern and stylish movie that gives you a Hollywood feel with Desi actors. It’s nothing like Top Gun at all so please don’t compare. I would even say this was much better than Pathan. Well done to Siddharth Anand, Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor and the supporting cast! I highly recommend this movie to those who want to watch something different. This deserves to be a blockbuster.

The ONLY similarity between Top Gun & Fighter is that they both have Fighter Jets involved. The story and characters are totally different. Fuddu sala.

The names of FIGHTER and Pathaan should not even be taken in one breath.
It's laughable but predictable from SRK cheering squad. To mistake overacting ki dukan for a stellar act in contrast to Hrithik's incredibly understated and elegant, yet endearing spin on this character is an odd choice.
FIGHTER is a rip-roaring joyride and though I casually went in, I was immediately drawn in by the smouldering intensity of the team bonding over Heer Asmaani. There after, not only was it a wonderful tribute to the Indian Army and airforce but also high-octane arresting action. Deepika was also quietly radiant and the team dynamics sweet. Deepika's family subplot was a bit iffy though, but overall the promotional material and trailer don't do justice to this film at all.
Have watched Top Gun Maverick 5 times so no clue what you're talking about on that front either. The comparison is misplaced.
Sadly I don't resonate with any of your reviews any more, least of all Animal.
Hope this movie gets its due at the box office, inspite of such reviews.

There was nothing wrong with the movie!! In fact we should be proud of Indian Cinema for producing such a high quality movie, that will be reference to future movie on Aerial action.. instead of looking at the manoeuvres and technical details that the film captured amazingly, while being realistic in dialogues. showing aircraft’s in service and not borrowed scenes, bringing some realistic aspects into a movie and not flying by with just blind patriotism. All you care about is Hrithik’s green eyes. Spare us the review.. to watch the film or not on box office is one’s choice. This is one of the stellar movies that Bollywood has produced. The cinematography deserves to be watched on a big screen. The film evokes all the right emotions it has to as patriotic air action movie!!
Not sure who made you a movie reviewer, you absolutely don't seem to have any idea when you are comparing top gun with fighter as Apple to Apple. They invested that amount of time because they had the budget to do that( Approx 10 times of fighter). Please be logical.
I hadn’t watched Anupama’s review for past 6 months because her reviews makes no sense. Watching today’s review kind of reinforces why organically I had moved away from watching her reviews for 7/8 years. Her perspective of films are on a totally diff wave length and she is the worst reviewer of films. UA-camrs are now better than her.
I'm hearing more about Top Gun more than Fighter. The only critique I was looking forward to hear has Disappointed with constant top gun reference which after watching Fighter seems isn't related as much as she's pointing out. Missed out on good reviewing material FC.

Why one of the worst movie?the hero had a good backstory,the villain had a good backstory,the fight sequences were quite stylish,the hand to hand combat sequences were very well choreographed.The smallpox thing was a new thing in Indian movies.It was a good masala movie

Wow firstly I didn’t feel it was a token Muslim character , I mean that way Pathan can be a token muslim but it wasn’t neither was the character of Bashir . Secondly I won’t compare it to maverick even if he was send to be a flying instructor that helped this movie s development more . The movie dragged with the love story and in explaining everything but loved the fighting scenes . Lastly the patriotism in the movie was not a problem certain dialogues needed to be written more precisely to be impactful . Happy to see Hrithik don the uniform again after lakshya .

I'm hoping to still like this a lot. I'm a huge Hrithik fan, and Maverick didn't grip me at all but I'm sort of invested going into this just because it's an actor I really love instead of Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise. Heck, that exact thing happened when I liked Bang Bang way more than Knight & Day 😅

Hrithik's film will open to low 20 crores on the first day at the Hindi Box Office in India and Anupama Chopra is not responsible for that. People will come to theatres if the WOM is positive among the audiences.

The aviation scenes are copied from Top Gun, but definitely in a much inferior way. It's because Cruise did the stunts himself. That also makes a lot of difference.

Your review has too many comparisons to Top Gun. You should have reviewed it as a standalone film.
What are movies but visual stories. And without stories, what are movies?
I had really hoped this movie would stand out on its own and I didn't want to unfairly compare it to higher budget movies like Top Gun, but most of the scenes and plot points in this movie invites you (dares you) to do so. Basically, almost everything Fighter does well was done better in Top Gun. But ironically, everything that it does differently actually takes away from the movie.
I still think it's a good enough movie to warrant a watch. The VFX (barring a few scenes towards the end) and the score are excellent.
I would've loved this movie if it had come out 2 years ago. But then again, I highly doubt it would've been made 2 years ago.

Fighter is a far superior film compared to Pathaan which Anupama loved it , so not sure what’s the problem here. This is Siddharth’s most matured and well executed movie by far, please give credit where it's due. The writing, the CGI, the acting and actions all were top notch for a bollywood movie.
It's hightime deepika gets due credit. Hrittik and srk wouldn't pull in audiences with any other female leads and we have those examples in the past. Let the queen thrive

Pathaan is so overrated just coz it was comeback for SRK, it was a typical patriotic movie, bad CGI and a predictable plot.
This movie is a pure tribute to Indian Air Force. You comparing this to Top Gun not only doesn't make sense but also disrespects the contributions of IAF.
Public comparing it to Top Gun is kinda given but as a reviewer, you must also consider the plots, characters, environment and budget of the movie. How much did Top Gun make in India? 40Cr, that's it. Not even 5lakhs footfall for Top Gun in India. Majority of audience don't give a fk about that movie. The budget of that is 1400Cr and Fighter is made at the budget of 250Cr.
Your review speaks of bias and preconceived hatred against a movie. You didn't enjoy the film because you were constantly comparing it with Top Gun in your head. Maybe try watching a second time and enjoying it rather than speaking as a Hollywood advertiser.

Respectfully, no. The cinematography was impeccable and really captured the setting of the movie from the first scene. The music direction of Vishal-Shakher set the tone for every major moment in the movie. The depth of characters, even supporting ones, made it even more impactful when two of them are taken on an unexpected journey. Hrithik’s ability to move and inspire you with his character’s arc is astounding. The action and set design are top notch for Indian cinema. The dialogue and script were well fleshed out. It was an incredibly enjoyable but moving and inspiring experience for me. A high. That I will be chasing again and again.

Fighter is better than recent big earners at box office except for Animal. I had more emotional connect with lots of scene comapred to rexent top gun. The only downside for me was the first half and its resemblance to top gun. Definately not sallow!!!!.
So this movie is inspired by the Pulwama attacks that were orchestrated by our neighbouring country and there’s a problem in naming that country? So now even while stating facts we need to be careful so we don’t hurt anyone?

Why exactly was fighter compared to top gun? I don’t believe director claimed he was making remake of top gun. This is the problem with people today, if film makers try doing something different it is immediately compared to western cinema. I thought she was reviewing top gun more than fighter.
