Recently had to do a short video for my business; just talking about how I became an electrician and the way I treat customers. What I thought sounded smooth and informed was a mash-up of Essex "estuary English", ill fitting clothes and jumpy segways. REAL RESPECT to you. People in UA-cam land don't know how hard it is to produce the videos you do, to the standard you do. Well done.

I can't believe you've put the IX35 on this list, I've had one from new since 2013 albeit the 1.7, its absolutely bullet proof, its averaged over 50mpg since new, not a thing has ever gone wrong, the body and internals feel as new and as sturdy as they day it was driven out of the showroom. I keep threatening to change it but with a granddaughter coming up to 17 shortly, its going to her. I keep preaching to friends how great these Hyundai's are, I'm getting the Santa Fe next.

I have the Peugeot 3008 2014 diesel/Hybrid. It has a 2L 180hp diesel driving the front wheels and a 20hp electric motor driving the rear wheels. I get 50mg in mixed road driving which is about 10mg more than the diesel-only version. What I like is that it provides 4wd if the car thinks it needs it or if I want it and you can see the rear wheels being driven during things like the initial pull off, supporting the stop/start function, around a car park, moving slowly in a traffic jam and smoothing the odd automatic gearbox over a gear change. I have done 100,000 miles in it and although there are some oddities I really like it. Oh, and the free road tax and congestion/emissions is an added bonus.

I watch lots of car review videos and it’s usually someone stood next to a vehicle unemotionally spouting facts and specifications about the car. I doubt they have even driven it much. I always think “that’s OK but what’s it actually like?” From the point of view of someone who’s genuinely used it in real life and can compare it to a million others they’ve owned, sold and used. That’s the advantage of your videos. Much appreciated. Thank you.

I recently bought a 2009 Freelander 2 HSE Auto as a daily driver/workhorse as my Abarth 595 Comp does not appreciate the winter weather one bit!
Had to spend about £1500 to bring it up to scratch but it’s lovely to drive around in and very relaxing to rack up miles with on the motorway.

Went for a 61 plate FL2 HSE a few weeks ago, as wanted something cheap and cheerful to tow a horse trailer on showgrounds and also to go down farm tracks (my wife’s a vet). Have to say, very impressed so far. Had a Discovery 3 in the past, was a money pit. But the FL2s have a far better rep if you service everything regularly, hence taking a punt on one. If buying one of these, don’t forget the diff (even though it’s supposed to be ‘sealed for life’). And join the FL2OG on Facebook. Knowledgable bunch and very friendly.

I've not yet used the load capacity to the fullest but it's nice to know it's there.
The problem with SUVs is weight, they are hard on suspension components, tyres are very expensive although budget brands get you round that but then you've got budgets.
They generally sit in the highest tax bracket, use more fuel & more difficult to park.
I honestly don't get the appeal of SUVs.

Not everyone needs or wants a big barge of a vehicle to lug about. Would you consider doing a review of smaller, more compact SUVs- especially three-door versions?
Additionally, could you clarify your advice about preferring Petrol engines over Diesel engines? If I recall correctly, you recently stated that it is best to avoid modern diesel engines because they are too complicated and are consequently prone to going wrong. Apologies if I have got this wrong.

Yes I will support for that as well, I’m looking to buy a car now, and I don’t know what to buy, literally. Everyone is advising me to buy a hybrid but I don’t like them that much as they’re not comfortable (speaking about a Toyota Corolla, CHR or even Lexus IS300H). I’m doing 700 miles exclusively motorway and 350 miles (town+villages) and I really don’t know what to buy. I’m thinking between a Skoda Karoq or a BMW 3 series GT but I don’t know !!! Please help me! Any car I will buy will be minimum 2017 for the bmw and Lexus at least and minimum 2019 for the rest with maximum 45k miles.

Yet another interesting piece Matt - keep it up! I really enjoy the "turnaround" vids - so good to see how reputable dealers such as yourself make their money. We run an iX35 around Glasgow and beyond. 2 litre diesel auto (my wife can only drive an auto) that we bought as a 1-year old back in 2015 from the Suzuki main dealer in Burton. Solid as anything. Comfortable. And so reliable as you say! Only issues have been 2 of the electric window switches on the driver's door no longer work (no hardship) and recently a spot of rust on the bonnet lip. Even though we can no longer take it into Glasgow city centre due to the recently introduced ULEZ I intend to keep it, keep on servicing it regularly and just see how many miles it can get up to. Currently on 135k! Would recommend to anyone...!

RX400h is indeed a great car. Speaking of the consumption, 9/10 litres per 100kms is correct, I wouldn't say it is less on the motorway though. The best results in fuel saving you get doing local roads at 80-90 km/h, where it is usually down to around 8l/100km or so, but motorways at 120-130 km/h will raise this to about 9-9,5l or more/100km.

Rust and sealed electric parts do not mix. The batteries should be changed after 125k miles and you are looking at about 5 grand, sure they will work after that without replacement but like any hybrid they deteriorate.
