My favorite Yoshi game is Yoshi’s Story! I would explain why, but then this little comment would turn into a big essay.
Yoshi’s Story means a lot to me. 🙏

It is still so funny to me how spikes are an instant kill in Yoshi's own games when in Mario's games, he can literally walk over them...

The only Mario game I can think of where Yoshi can walk on spikes is Super Mario Wonder. Unless of course one has the invincibility star.

Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite games of all time, giving any mainline Mario game a run for its money in terms of platformer. My heart belongs to Super Mario 64, but Yoshi's Island is right behind it, even beating Super Mario World. Brilliant game, easy to learn and difficult to master. Graphics that pop, a bouncy soundtrack, and an epic final boss. Very rewarding to 100%, on account of unlocking new stages and bonus games, though it's very disappointing you don't get anything for 100%'ing every extra level.
I rarely go back to Yoshi's Story; I just don't like the collect-a-thon format or physics engine nearly as much, plus having to do multiple playthroughs to experience all the stages. Yoshi's Island DS was overly long and surprisingly difficult to the point of not being fun to play. Yoshi's Wooly World was pretty fun, at least.

Yoshi's Island is such a great and cute game. I didnt actually play it until i was like 29 years old. Cant believe I missed out on it as a teen, but hey.... I had to deal with a lot of stuff in that time and High School. I quit games back then but ended up as the drum major of my marching band, so... I made a good tradeoff all in all.

This review was _so_ worth the wait!! I love Yoshi’s Island more than words can say and it’s such a personally significant game to me.
I never got to play the SNES original, but I have a strong attachment to the GBA port-my memory is fuzzy, but I’m certain it was one of the very first games I owned. I used to play it frequently throughout my childhood. Whenever I think of Yoshi’s Island, I always default to the GBA port.
I would absolutely _love_ to see you take a look at the other Yoshi games! Yoshi’s Story is my all-time favorite, and I think Yoshi Topsy-Turvy is a great game in its own way. The Yoshi series is full of charm and uniqueness, which is only part of the reason why it’s my favorite platformer franchise.
I just really love Yoshi. Great video as always! Looking forward to the next.

The Cave of Harry Hedgehog may be one of the best looking levels in any game ever!

I got this game as a gift in 1995, when I was not even a teen yet. I have not PLAYED this game since probably some point in 1996. That was 28 years ago this year. It has been nearly THIRTY YEARS since I played this game, and I have not watched videos of anything past the beginning since, AND YET, I still, nearly 30 years later, KNEW what the giant bowser battle music sounded like...I could just HEAR it starting up in my head. I instantly recognized every boss you showed. Clear as day. I KNOW what sound the red coins make. I know all the music. I have not even THOUGHT about those other bosses in decades and I REMEMBER that! Just let that be a testament to the profound impact this game had on me as a child. It holds up EVERY bit as much as I remembered it. I would call it THE...yes, THE best platformer of all time. It is a perfect game. There is really nothing it gets wrong. Even baby Mario crying serves to add urgency, which is good. It controls with insane smoothness and precision. It was WAY ahead of its time in gameplay and graphics and the crayon style STILL looks, to me, better than ANY Mario game since. The way I see it, this game is the Mario franchise and platforming perfected, and it belongs in a museum. The 3D newer Marios do not not do much for me visually. Something about them also just feels...too...I dont know, over produced, shiny, and lacking spirit? I say go BACK to this exact graphical and art style. 3D CAN be interesting in Mario games but more often than not it detracts.
There are few games I would call perfection and put in the pantheon of greatest titles in history alongside the likes of Final Fantasy VII, but THIS? This is one of those that easily makes my top 2.

What are your thoughts on yoshi's island DS? I honestly think it's a pretty good sequel and Artoon/Arzest's best game before sonic superstars (not a huge accomplishment, but still)

@@joshhunt9551Why do you even care? The more people who love these games the better. No need for weird, bitter projecting. Also I am 37. I grew up with the NES/SNES. I just don't gatekeep like my age matters.
