My fav thing I got to sketch and bbn paint outside is a metal storage clipboard! I can put my watercolor palette, brushes, water, towel, paper, etc, inside and its flat it a clip on the outside to help hold paper or sketchbook....oh yeah, and magnets work perfect with mine! It's not perfect for every need....but its perfect to throw in a bag or car for the times u see something inspiring or just need to waste time. And it's cheap! I'm currently working on modifying a "nurse's clipboard" into something that works better for a portable easel thing. They fold in half to be more compact....
Thanks so much! This video was made a LONG time ago (before I had any idea how to edit or make videos really) - you may want to check out some of my newer videos - you would at least get a laugh - try to make them art related but entertaining at the same time. Thanks for stopping by AND FOR LEAVING ME A COMMENT!
Your Space is Beautiful! I love this video because I am planning to get my first box and I came across your video in a google search for the Pochade box. I plan to order from him SOON! THANKS So Much!
@@sandihester im getting one this year...Gosh has it been 2 years...but I am sketching and I think ive built up enough interest to have hubby think it is something nice I would enjoy...I will let you know when I get it.
Mine are a little custom made so you would be best off by contacting him directly to get measurements and - he has all that info on his website. Thanks for watching Edwina!
Does Ben still sale this particular box, (the small one with a draw)? I think they are both great tools. Can’t wait until I get one, and hit the trails with it.🧐
Great job on this Sandi! I think I will try one of these myself! I usually paint up to a 16"x20" in the field, can I paint that large on your big one? Do they both have tripod mounts on them? Thank you and Happy Holidays!
I am very sensitive to odors do these boxes have a strong varnish odor? Everything I order lately in wood, from art stores, has this odor & I can’t tolerate. I have a STRADA mini but miss wood feeling tone, texture... Jeanne
JeanneMarie68 Jeanne I don’t think they have any smell. I am sensitive to smells as well but not to varnish so maybe I’m just not noticing the smell. You could talk to Ben (the maker) and see what he thinks or if there’s something completely odorless he could use.
I just googled Alla Prima, and his work is amazing!!!!! I think I found what I want for Christmas this year!!!! I'm so glad I found your channel! And I just clicked on your classes, and it sounds very informative and helpful. Do you offer any other types of classes as well? Personal? Small group?
Hey Michelle, mine are a little custom so it would probably be best for you to visit Ben's web site - he has all the info on his site! Thanks for stopping by!
Pochade boxes with storage for paints, brushes (which could just go in a bag) and panels just adds to the weight with extra wood to lug around. To prevent having to take paint tubes out with you you could set your palette with paint before you leave or take fewer colours for a minimal palette and smaller tubes.
Wow Sandi...Great video 😊

Did you end up getting one of his boxes? Would love to know if you like it. I'm still using mine and LOVE them both!

Hey Sharon - sorry I'm just now replying - I was inactive for a long time on UA-cam. They do both have tripod mounts on them.
These are freakin gorgeous. I prefer to work flat or at a slight incline, rather than upright. Does the lid bend back further than 90 degrees?
You could totally work flat with this box. Ben has all the measurements and info on his site .
THe Blackfoot lays flat.
Yes i find that the heaviest thing is the paint tubes
What kind of tripod do you use?
I’m not sure what it is - I have two just standard - nothing special tripods. Their so old they probably don’t even make them any more
great box , great video , thanks
Thanks so much Anton!
@@sandihester welcome , you are great, i think buy one of this box, thanks again :)
@@antonyordanov8852 Oh awesome! I LOVE mine! I don't think you will be disappointed! Make sure to mention to Ben that you saw my video demo.

His work is amazing! I’m working on my next online class which will be a landscape class
I tried to get him but unfortunately they do not send everything to Holland. but i love it
that's a bummer!
Lovely box masyaallah
how much does it weigh?
The Blackfoot weights 4 lbs 4 oz
Thank you, I was able to get in contact with him.
That's awesome! Did you end up getting one of his boxes?
Merry Christmas
Please state size and model of each

One is small and the other is larger. 🤦♂️

You look so pretty!
What a beautiful box! Golly. A bit too heavy for my taste. But, nonetheless, so beautifully done!
They are beautifully done! Thanks for stopping by!
