Found it. Style 10-334. I believe it was purchased in 1970s. Many of the older model parts you mention, like the white plastic parts on the handle rod, I don’t have them. I love this chair. The new one I bought 15 yrs ago is in worse condition.

Recliner Guy, I have searched all your videos and cant find anything that relates to my recliner problem. On my recliner when I put the footrest down I have to kick the devil out of it just to get it to close. Upon further inspection I have found that the footrest is actually rubbing against the chair body and it is causing the corner of the leather to start to tear. How or what do we do to fix this. I would love to be able to put the footrest down without having to kick for 5 minutes to get it to close. Thanks for your time!

@Jennifer Cooper - When the footrest strikes or scrubs against the arm frame (chair body), you have to determine whether the arm frame(s) has shifted, or the footrest is no longer in its original position when it closes. If the footrest is no longer in its original position, the mechanism scissors may be bent. "Kicking the devil out of it" can cause this type of damage as well. ;)
If the arm frame has shifted and is now preventing the footrest from closing properly, a frame repair is required to correct the problem.
A quick fix that sometimes works: If there is enough room for the footrest to close, but it's not positioned properly to do so, you can sometimes reposition it to solve this problem. To do that, simply unbolt or unscrew the footrest where it attaches to the mechanism scissors. Then reposition it and reattach with wood screws. Be sure to use screws that are compatible with the footrest frame board material and are the right length. If they are too long, they will stick thru the footrest board and into the padding. You may feel them against your feet when you're finished -- ouch!

Recliner Repair Guy, I have looked for the ID tag on my old 1990s La-Z-Boy recliner & there is nothing what so ever just thinking my stink dad got rid of the information so that we would be stuck with a recliner that would not work as he loved to wreck things ugh! Now know to eventually get a new La-Z-Boy recliner since all the information is gone smart move?

MAYBE (I kinda have my doubts) this will help me fix the issue on my Mom's chair. I kinda have the feeling the part isn't even "broke", it just needs to be "re-affixed" in the right place. I think if it had broke there would have been some evidence like a bolt or some metal or plastic piece under the chair, and we never saw this. Either way *your videos are a blessing* because you do a very good job explaining things and keeping it basic and yet not being insulting to your Vlog viewers' intelligence. I mean your teaching method on recliners is quite good.
I may see if I can find the model number, if for no other reason than to put it up on this Vlog and see if you have any theories on my Mom's power recliner's issue. Again I think she overpaid for the damn thing, and I think it has to do with how it *MECHANICALLY* (power connection or electrical feed is not the issue) connects. The electric power part is not *mechanically* connecting properly to that metal cross bar in the very very lower back of the chair. So imagine you are on your knees or squatting behind the chair, if you lifted up that flop like curtain like you might lift up a skirt, the bar is right there or just barely barely barely above that flop curtain piece on the back. It's incredibly annoying because I think if I knew how to fix it we could do it ourselves in 5--10 minutes flat, but I still am not sure how to reattach that mechanical power arm back to that backside metal crossbar.

Rubin4749 - Are you referring to where the Lift Motor (actuator) attaches to the metal frame? If you can email a photo of the problem -- pete@reclinerrepairguy.com -- I'll try to offer some suggestions.

@@reclinerrepairguy4155 I appreciate it, will try to do soon. I'm going to try and find out the model soon as well, but since the legs aren't moving at the moment, and I presume that info is on the sheet under the leg lift it presents a semi challenge. Will try to get both of those soon and put up in this same thread or under same video

I just checked it just right now, and I can actually lift up the leg lift with my arms and the model info is there---two sheets of paper glues or stapled---so, it's still a bearcat, but I know I can get the model number, I will get underneath that and read off the data to a friend as they write it down, and then at the very least you can visualize the model in your mind, and I will get that here in the next 48 hours and also see if I can find a digital cam in the house.

@@reclinerrepairguy4155 BTW, I should answer your question---yes I believe that is the problem---the motor actually still works and moves, and where that *MECHANICALLY* connects to the frame (I think) of a metal piece on the very bottom back of the chair----it's like a metal U piece on the very end of the "actuator" that *SHOULD* (but doesn't now) connect to that back metal bar.

@@Rubin4749 - It sounds like the Lift Motor (actuator) may not be properly attached at its base. Don't bother with getting any #s off the chair, I'm familiar with the style you're describing. I need photos to see the specific problem. :)
