- Happy New Year. Final vid before the year turns, featuring the ancient premium ship Atago, added to the game in Patch 0.4.0 (beta) in 2015. Can the ship still carry?

I’m trying to. It’s a mixed bag of emotions.
I'm currently returning to the game, but with a fair bit of distance. Works well so far, just don't get competitive or fall into WG's grind traps and you will be fine.
To be honest after playing some other online games some friends recommended , i think WoWs is still somewhat consistent . Trust me everything is better than League of Legends, glad i never really got into that BS.
A gamemode called "conventional" battles should be added where theres only surface ships, no subs or carriers, permanently
WG knows if they made that a thing then CV and sub players would only play bots for the rest of eternity...as they should

The Ara Ara machine still to this day is good
For the times it was great for having a heal like Prinz Eugen and you could take a little...spanking so to say compared to other T8 cruisers which cannot trade health for dmg
The combination of consistent, hard hitting guns plus maneuverability & a heal means this ship will always be good. Argubly the best premium @ T8

Dude best tier 8 premium is Massachusetts. That ship is just broken.
Its strong but with its lack of speed its always forced to commit and can only react to stiturations .
@@vitezslavlorenc3479It WAS broken. Then IFHE rework and German BCs happened (plus submarines ofc, which completely nullify the purpose of a brawling ship) and now it's just... strong, like Atago.
Kaga on the other hand remains busted to this day
@@stefanocrosazzo3262 I dont count CVs and subs, they are just garbage classes which are just OP cos WG wants them to be that way so people without brain cells can play this game too. If there is no CV or sub in the game nothing can stop well played Massa. Atago can get citadels very easy and doesnt have range to stay far away from bbs. Also German BC on tier 8 is just garbage, I will take Mass over that shit every time.
The OG still is a great and fine ship! Also still one of the most beautiful as well with deceptive armor that can save you in a pinch!

Never got Atago, but I did get ARP Takao, love the ship to bits (until I get citadeled)
atago is a takao class cruiser, pretty much the same ship :) still prefer arp takao tough, that cammo and captain...so precious

Back when I played, Atago was the one cruiser I could do somewhat consistently well in. Since I was a BB main I was always overestimating my survivability and sustainability and taking fights and trades I shouldn't- Atago being as tanky as she is is much more forgiving about that kind of playstyle provided you don't get yourself blapped. That combined with at the time peerless concealment for a cruiser, she could run if she had to. Quality ship, glad to see she's still got it.
IJN cruisers are underrated fire-starting monsters. The rage I'm able to cause BBs is hilarious and I'm not selling mine.
That Tirpitz yo..... sitting behind an island and doing nothing when it would have been absolutely vital to intervene.

the Atago was the first, I bought it as soon as it was available the Tirpitz I'm pretty sure was a giveaway by missions when it first was introduced I don't remember spending money on it.
Had the most kills ever in a random with this ship 7, great ship first t8 premium I believe
i dont care much about stats but my highest are on Atago, such a comfortable and dependable ship to play.

About the kitakami comment: yes she is worse than she "should" be because of balancing, but she still is an interesting ship.
I got around half the needed resources for her through the snowflakes on my ships and the rest i got by resetting and regrinding the harugumo line around 8 times or so. I am pretty used to regrinding it already and akizuki&kitakaze are two of my most played ships with a winrate of 60-65%. I can see how others might struggle with the resources but for me it was just 2 weeks of playing a bit more than usually.

on some level I understand wanting to just sit in the back and farm but why do people choose brawling BBs for that?
I've had the Atago for a while now and I love it. Is Zao worth the grind, or is it much worse tier for tier?
Zao is bad but not that bad but it’s sister light cruiser line is absolutely horrendous
Nah zao line sucks dont grind it unless you have every other ship in game except yodo line. Get yoshino/azuma its god tier in comparison

Wouldn't say the *whole* line, Furutaka is a really good ship.
But yeah, the higher tier jp cruisers's are fairly trash. Better to go with the other jp lines since their high-tier ships are pretty much all gold.

Zaou is underperforming because the bad angles on her guns and torpedoes force you to show a lot of side to use them
Ibuki one tier lower is OK, but not remarkable.
Mogami is fantastic. Other ships below are good too.
Don't listen to the others, especially these trying to sell Azuma and Yoshino. The first is very mediocre, the other just OK.
You: a Japanese Heavy Cruiser, Them: a US Light Cruiser Burning half your HP to beat one boat does not feel very efficient, honestly...
I wouldnt play kitakami if they gave it to me.
The real question that no one is asking is "Can Ibuki carry in 2024?"

Older ship have No special button but got all basic stuff you need

Hmm idk tone can be a better pick then atago becauuuuse planes and almost everything else is about the same but lil worse but concealment is verryyyy good
Tone planes don't scale into tier 10 well, and you lose atagos goofy armor and rear firing guns
Tone does much better in ranked and much worse in random
tone is a terrible ship
Atago can still carry in T8 or T9 battle, but not in a T10 battle, and if there are CVs, you are dead as f"#¤% :)

Ant any rate - Kitakami really is a resource drain. If one doesn't have these resources just "lying around", I certainly agree on getting other resource ships first. If played correctly Kita can be very strong, but it requires a lot of skill and a tad bit of luck too, cause torpedoes 'n shit. But yea, if you are the "I've-got-it--all" kind of player, why not spending the resources on Kita. It's not like it is the worst ship you can get. There are far worse ships in this game. It's just way to expensive for sure and this counts for all the ships in this event. Even "Defense" is not worth spending this much on it. You can get more bang for your resources by spending it on multiple other strong ships like Ohio, Malta, Napoli, Moskva, Sherman, Mecklenburg, Bourgogne, Austin, etc.pp
Like, the list of equally good or better ships is quite long and they are much cheaper compared to Defense and don't get me wrong, Defense is a strong ship, but it's not really pay-to-win. You can get slapped hard pretty easily, if you are not careful in this thing.
Even as a player without a lot of resource ships, I think I'm going for defence lol;
I really liked the Seigfried and it's guns, and overall I've already gotten the supercruisers I'm interested in (Azuma and Yoshino just seems too squishy to me lol) sans Stalingrad, who I'm still saving steel for.
