My steel ships so far are Bourgogne which I got first, one of my favorite ships. Stalin which I wish I can return and get my steel back. And Austin which is also one of my favorite ships.

Got about 300 steel left for next ship. I was sold on incomp, but leaning towards z42 instead. Already got Ragnar, Austin, and bourg.

How you have so much steel is beyond me. What's the surefire method of collecting steel?

They know; they're being silly.
I have Shikishima, Bourgogne, Mecklenberg, FDR and R. Lauria (purchased in that order). I regret getting the FDR to be honest and for the reasons you mention. Planes are slow as s%^$ and the reset is unworkable for me. I love all the others even though I will admit that the Shikishima is a bit redundant if you have Yamato. I have almost 20k steel again and will easily have enough for any ship when the next coupon drops (11/28). I am honestly not sure what to get. None of the ones that are left are particularly attractive to me. Maybe they'll add something else soon.
I have the Smaland. Should I care about the Ragnar? I don't get a lot of steel, so I don't want to duplicate....though I love DDs.

I'm a DD main, but playing a bit more BB lately. Love my San Diego. Should I get Austin, Lauria or Bourgogne next? Already have Ragnar. Austin and Lauria are at the top of my list.
I've had lots of very solid games with San Diego by careful positioning and movement, and the idea of Austin's unlimited stronger MBRB is very intriguing. Understand the paper thin armor. Also like SAP.
BB play is mostly too slow for me, but Lauria big gun SAP and 120 mm deck armor are interesting. Understand the citadel weaknesses somewhat.
Bourgogne is less slow ;)
@@astralechat5994 By slow I mostly mean gun reload speed, and I understand Bourgogne has the gun booster and the engine boost.
How is Lauria?

@@thatinternetguyj5222 I have a Ragnar, but haven't played it much. It's very powerful and special. Strong heal, strong and highly accurate German guns, radar, etc. Definitely recommended, especially if you like the accurate German guns.

I have Burgugone , Shikishima , Stalingrad , Plymouth , Incomparable , Gato , Mecklenburg , Ragnar & R.Lauria I have gather those ships in 6 years playing wows on the way spending like 15k steel to buy out Smolensk & Thunderer (combo with coal , nope I don't regret it) few years back , and I play 100% ranked to get steel as my clan is a zombie clan , and I am loyal (too lazy to change clan) , so that is my top ships, most fun to play for me .
1. R.Lauria magical armour & SAP I am average 58% wr player , I have play on her 15 battles (11 win) , she is easy to get dmg my weakest battle on her was 173k , best 287k.
2. Shikishima guns sound is just amazing , decent dispersion and biggest guns in game ... I have erase few cv at begining of the battle , often shot at cruiser = cita and 25% of ending it .
3. Stalingrad , russian dellusion on water , that is most OP cruiser in game (I would get it as first ship as WG might remove it)
4. Gato I am not sub-human so I dont enjoy subs , but Gato is most OP one in game , I have play it today , last battle , 160k+ spotting dmg .
5. Burgugone great fast bb , but over hyped in my opinion , she is 2nd ship to grab for steel as WG might remove it too.
6. Ragnar , must have in my opinion , great fire power + radar .
7. Incomparable , I had battles where I was erased in first few minutes , but I had battles with 300k+ dmg done and 8 kills , all depend what kind of opponent you have .
8. Plymouth have smoke , radar & hydro & decent reload , is not a crap , but you need to like UK light cruisers.
9. Mecklenburg , my biggest regret , not bad ship , but I have GK , and in compare with it Mecklenburg is a crap , is good in Asymetric battles , but if you have GK you can skip it .
Next ships I will take :
F.D.Roosevelt , because is a real ship , and is OP .
Komissar ... is a rusky heavy cruiser = must be OP in some way .
Austin , because all cool kids have it ...
Z-42 , because is last T10 for steel on the list .
... I will skip Vallejo , and wait until WG will push it to armory for coal , like they did with Black , Neustrashimy & Flint .
how come you think WG might remove the bourgogne from the game in the future?
@@dreadlordyts6913 Because it's been in the Armory for a while... Bourg and Stalin are the oldest of the Steel ships... so yeah. That's the general thinking.
@@dreadlordyts6913 Experience ... Stalingrad & Burgugone have must have and legendary status also those are oldest ships in armory = are popular , steel ship section getting larger , so they would like to remove those 2 , and in 2-3 years offer those in some event , like one we got Kitakami .
@@andrewmbaba7608 but they aren't that overpowered and generally hard to get like the coal one but I can see where you're coming from.
Z42 is at least number 9 if not 8 youre sleeping on that dd it can maul stuff out not as good as ragnar can but it can scout a bit better with its concealment and more smokes to get out of situations compared to the 3 speed boosts (yes i know those 3 speed boosts are cracked af and in most use case scenarios are outright better but just in case you get hard focused and run out of them z42 does have more smokes to evade even if they individually are inferior it just makes it feel different enough) the ap dpm is nutty and if you figure out how to hit superstructures with it then you just melt about anything in the game down with more concealment and as a better skirmisher
