    When applying a ceramic coating keep the applicator on the panel slide it back and forth in a cross hatch pattern lifting the applicator after every pass will create high spots or miss a spot on the panel. Only a recommendation do as you wish. I have installed approximately 100 ceramic coatings in last 3 years I’m only saying to help people no hate at all. Cheers

    • @TheBarberShopScott
      @TheBarberShopScott 3 роки тому +7

      Fortunately Avalon King is probably the easiest ceramic coating to work with on the market, but you are very correct.
      On our pro grade coatings we install the manufacturer actually recommends against doing cross hatch pattern and just overlapping at about 50% to ensure full and even coverage.

    • @TheBarberShopScott
      @TheBarberShopScott 3 роки тому +3

      @The Forsaken One yes, and with Avalon King you see when it's ready to be wiped off because it looks like a rainbow after the product has flashed.
      1 bottle is honestly enough to do a car like this 2 times.

    • @TheBarberShopScott
      @TheBarberShopScott 3 роки тому +2

      @The Forsaken One after it is applied to the paint the chemical that allows the coating to bond to the clear coat, once it has a rainbow look after application (temperature and humidity play a role in this and can be anywehere from 1 minute to 10 minutes) that means it has bonded and is ready to be wiped off.

    John - you should try the balled up alum foil method before trying steel wool to "polish" the chrome. alum is softer than (on metal) chrome, and doesn't leave behind steel fragments to rust in place as they become embedded. take 1ft of alum foil, wad it up, squirt some simeple green or wd40 on it, and try that.

Spent a bit of money and time getting the paint fixed and new wheels. Guess what? It was still a 20 year old car and that’s how people perceived it no matter how clean it was. The only way I can sell it is to take a loss on the “fixes” I made to it. Lesson learned.

    Did you fix the chrome strips along the base of the doors? I saw one had some of the chrome missing on the plastic door strip at the beginning of the video. I have the same car and is has the same problem with those chrome strips.

      If you do it yourself I believe with his code you can get a bottle for $50-$60.
      Prices vary wildly in the detailer world though, you could expect to pay $700+ for a job like this from the wash to the coating from a reputable business.

    Lexus was the best brand car I ever owned in terms of overall use and luxury combined. But their stupid predator grill obsession ruined their entire line of cars for me. I’m sorry, but if you own a predator Lexus, it’s ugly. Great cars but horrific design currently. Which is why JR’s model is a timeless great.
