    that oil actually looks fairly clean as it was coming out. also there is no guesswork when tightening the oil filter housing, you just turn it until it stops.

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Рік тому

      Yup! I'm in the process of changing the oil from conventional to synthetic so it's being changed sooner rather than later. True but Keep in mind everyone has different strength levels so some people think it stopped turning when they can turn it a bit more and some people can maybe over torque it

    Perfect. Thanks for explaining why you didn’t use that pre drain feature. I agree. Have you considered filling the filter cup before reinstalling? I can’t see it mattering much but some people swear by it.

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes, I used it previously, but it is a bit of a challenge to open the pre drain, and makes no difference since I am going to remove the filter cup in a controlled manner anyway. Yes, in all of my other car videos I do prime the filter (pre-fill with some oil). I didn't for this one because this filter doesn't come like the other ones that have their own housing. In hindsight I could fill the cup halfway like a normal filter but it threw me off.
      Yup, it's probably 4 ounces of oil at best, so I can't see it making a tremendous difference, but in the UA-cam world it has to be by the book

  • @Tonyplat98

    This is great vid. The only thing is those race ramps they're sooo expensive. I think I'll just use my trusty jacks. They can do the lifting.

      Thanks! Yes, they're on the pricier end but I do love how light they are (about 3 lbs) and will last decades.

    How often should you change the oil in a 2012 Lexus ES350 if your using full synthetic?

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  4 місяці тому +2

      Can't go wrong with a 5,000-7,000 mile window. Full Synthetic is usually rated to last 20,000+ miles, but best to change before that

    • @Striker50_

      Try using some sort of plastic card, and tap it with a hammer where it's wedged between the washer and the pan.
      Try not to use metal screwdrivers because you don't want to dent the pan, and it could leak in the future. Perhaps a flathead is a good option if you're careful with it
      Maybe also hitting it with a little bit of degreaser will help just make sure to cover the open hole
