This was filmed on March 25, 1969 in Staines-Upon-Thames (a suburb of west London) for a film called “Supershow”. Jimmy Page is 25, Robert Plant is 20, John Bonham is 20, John Paul Jones is 23.
Tight but Lose. They play live tight and together. but have a free looseness that is always present. so tight and lose at the same time. It was pure magic.
I'm glad you were able to get the video up. Jimmy was playing his dragon Tele as I described in a previous post. And, as you saw, he didn't use a whammy, not until later in their career. In my opinion, Jimmy didn't have a "signature" playing style; unless you call what some people call "sloppy" playing his signature. Jimmy would be the first to tell you he was never a technical player, but he never tried to be; his style was to play with emotion rather than perfection. One thing I would recommend, if at all possible - don't pause during a guitar solo (regardless of band).
They had only been together a short time here. The chemistry they had was instant. From the very first time they played together, they all knew they had something special. Please do "I Can't Quit You Baby" live from the Royal Albert Hall 1970 show. I really enjoy your reactions, thank you! Oh, and hell yeah, I'd go back in a heartbeat, as I'm sure most of us would. Awesome times, I miss those days so much.
OMG!!! OMG!!! YAY WoW k have NOT even started watching yet & I am SOOO EXCITED!!! This is My MOST Favorite Loved Thing EVER!!! & i am sooo fkn **Grateful** they got THIS on **Film** jeezus man k i could go on & on but wont heh...k going to go watch NOW!!! Weeee OH & **MyJimmyPageBeautifulMagicalGeniusWizardBabe** Sigh **Melt** k heh NOW!!!
A great concert to see Page using the violin bow, he perfected it in the next year or so. They really sound great at larger concerts, I love the songs from Madison Square Gardens. Each of them are the greatest at what they do. This looks very early when they got together, I’d say before they traveled the world. Jimmy plays like the guitar is a part of him, the 3 of them still preform, separately. Thanks for doing another reaction, glad you are enjoying them. Oh they do have little signals they give, usually because Jimmy would solo non stop LOL.
WoW LUV This!!! especially cuz of the things bout **MyJimmyPageBabe** & cuz yes he would ha & i have seen so many people say that same thing myself included that his guitar is a part of him he just makes it all look so effortless i mean he barely ever is even lookin at the thing ha **Magical**
Love your reactions, you need to do the long version of live Dazed & Confused, it’s about 35 minutes long but it’s amazing. You really see Jimmy using the bow, he kind of goes in a different direction, JPJ & Bonham are like WTF lol. They all go along with it, & it’s amazing, even if you just watch it on your own. The lives are great because they add more to them, longer solos, or Plant adds words from other songs. Page later mastered the bow even more, they will continue to blow your mind. Bonham solo Moby Dick, at least 15 minutes long, shows how he’s the greatest drummer.
Great reaction to this amazing performance. It was definitely an interesting time back then and the times were much different then now; there was no social media, video games or internet to distract us so I think it allowed these artist to focus on their music and to thrive and explore new musical sounds. You had have talent to get a recording. The fashion was 'fly' back then as you noticed; it was partly to allow you to identify with those who had common beliefs with you and as a rebellion against the status quo. I've been enjoying your genuine and sincere reactions and think you'll be getting more subs as the word spreads!
I'd phrase it slightly differently. Because 'strumming' implies chords, "signature picking" implies notes (in profusion for Jimmy). But the Blues style call and response of Zep is the true essence of Zep-ness, their unearthly mindmeld of voice, instrument and silence that slays. Peace, love and bellbottoms.

The 28 minute live version from MSG 1973 is the greatest guitar solo ever recorded. Unfortunately, it's been removed from YT. You can only see it if you have the DVD.
That’s sad, I saw it watching other reactions, & it is crazy. Funny when JPJ & Bonham are like WTF when Jimmy changes songs, but they all rolled with it. I love the lives more, maybe because of hearing the songs forever, it’s nice seeing them play.
Ok I just looked again, now I can’t find the MSG full version, but can find other long versions even a 45 minute version. I wonder why they removed the MSG one?

There was a lot of messing around with guitars back then. Watch Alvin Lee and Ten Years After doing Help Me live you'll see Alvin Lee using a drum stick slapping individual strings like he's plucking them. Alvin was called the fastest fingers in rock/ blues.
Continue the albums! Great reactions. Keep going! Also try the 1973 MSG version of Dazed. Also the Earl’s Court version of Moby Dick 1970 ( think that’s the year)
Page has the capability to bring God into your mind. Might not be the God you were looking for but that's life. Old, Ancient beyond mind. For those that know. That Legendary telecaster here. Page does what he does, it's like a lock you have to go under mind. The lock of your own mind, you have to go subconscious with conscious witness.
To compare greta van fleets vocalists to Robert Plant does Robert Plant a disservice Not putting down the fleet guy ... He sounds like a boy Robert is what like 20 years old here But soundz mature beyond his age and yet already putting into action the call and response between himself and Page that would become legendary ... They simply blew everybody off stage when they exploded onto the scene. HUGE power and sheer talent and chemistry all in 1

Robert Plant was around 19- 20 here.
Every live performance is different even of the same song. Incredible improvisation in their live shows.
