Hi! I'm very very desperate for any type of information you can possibly share with me in regards to a feral cat I took in at the middle of this past November. He seemed to be healthy except for a serious and deep ear mite infestation. He also has been sneezing randomly and has saliva around his mouth almost everyday, he doesn't drool often though. He also has a dry nose but at times there's a small amount of liquid that's visibly moved when he breathes. What worries me the absolute most is that about 17 days ago he had vomited and also was dry heaving the way that cats do when they have a hair ball I think at least. Last week he vomited again and on top of the vomiting his legs would shiver, almost like a muscle spasm. Since then it's now almost his whole body that shivers but it was mostly when he's purring now today he's just lying here and it's more visible. The straw that broke my heart was yesterday afternoon I was folding laundry and he was napping and he wasn't shivering but out of nowhere ( by nowhere I mean he wasn't having one of those dreams that make him twitch or move limbs, paws, eyes and whiskers.) he hadn't been moving at all except for the rise and fall of breathing. He startled me so badly because he let out this loud "meowww" and picked his head up and when I rushed over to him to see if something was visibly wrong with him, I leaned forward and pet him and he put his head away from my hands but when I moved my face closer he leaned in and gently bit my cheek, and made this guttural "gghhmmmmmm" sound that I could tell something was wrong with him. Now it's important I mention that this past Tuesday I bought him a carrot shaped catnip toy and he loved it so so much. And if monitor him as he's play with it then when he'd start to really fervently start biting and chewing at it I'd take it back and hide it out of his reach in secure places so he couldn't get it back without my help. Sunday night he chewed through the tip of the carrot and because his nails are all so sharp(I haven't been able to clip them for fear he'd stop trusting me and the hard work of the last 3 months would be out the window) it took me longer than I would have liked to get the toy back from him and he had already begun eating a piece of the fabric of the carrot so I tried to get it out of his mouth but I failed and from what I saw he swallowed it. I've been monitoring his bathroom habits and nothing has changed. Neither has his eating habits or drinking habits. He also has horrendous breath and I have been searching for a homeopathic remedy for the smell and haven't come across any. I bought him the Purina®Dentalife® for at least tartar control but he doesn't like the smell and won't eat even 1 to try it. He's not neutered and I don't know how old he is or if he's ever had shots or anything else. But I tried to get him to be a foster but when I was told that if he's feral that the chances of him even being adopted were so low that he could be stuck in a shelter for the rest of his life or even worse that he could end up being euthanized. I decided I wasn't going to put him through anymore trauma or fear than he's already lived with. I don't know what else I can do that won't possibly hurt him more than it would help him. I want to be as close to positive as possible, that something is wrong with him that a veterinarian is the only way to go about getting him better before I totally trash his first comfortable and safe time of his life. The only reason I haven't been able to get him to a vet yet is because I still owe money for my last cat Skitzs' final vet visit costs (that I had to have my father take out a credit card for him to even be able to pay for the vet to say he had diabetic kido ace dosis? & he was suffering in pain and wasn't going to get better without extremely expensive Hail Mary treatments that may not have worked and he'd still have severe organ damage that was irreversible. Furthermore I'm disabled from a drunk driver car vs pedestrian accident, that caused me to drop out of medical assistant classes and quit my job almost 8 years ago. I had to have shoulder, lower back and forearm surgeries since then and was also recommended for neck surgery but I declined for fear of the possibility of Paralysis. I know that some people will judge me but I couldn't stand the thought of this beautiful animal being on the streets any longer especially with the frigid winter coming. It took a month before he even trusted me enough to let me sit by him while he ate the food I'd bring him every day. It took another month before he'd let me pet him for more than a minute. I love all animals and I am going to start courses to become a vet tech and possibly ultimately a veterinarian. I just want to do whatever it is that's best for Baby and whatever you say in response to this message I will take as seriously as if it were for my own health care. What are your thoughts on the symptoms I've detailed? What are the possible causes of them or what ailments of any come to mind? Finally how could I help George a.k.a. Baby to feel better and be healthier moving forward? Is taking him to the veterinarian the only way I can help him? If I do take him to the vet what are some questions I should ask in order to get the best results? I'm looking forward to hearing back from you and I want to thank you in advance for your assistance and kindness during this stressful time! Thank you from Baby George and myself!!
Sasha Parks Bacon is not a big deal... Seriously, it's meat. But it's probably a good idea to go with uncured bacon, and even in this case, just a little bit. And make it more the red stuff/actual meat, not the fat... Of course, bacon should not be a regular sort of thing for a dog, by any means. Much better of course, meat-wise, to go with small amounts of beef, esp. bits of grass-fed beef (well cooked bits of grass-fed ground beef), thoroughly cooked bits of organic chicken and turkey, bits of wild-caught salmon, cod, etc., and then just get a very high quality, protein-rich dog food... Dogs do better with animal protein than humans do... It's what they were designed to eat...
Is apple and potatoes really toxic for dogs????... I have been feeding my dogs for years now(apples & potatoes). Its been 6 years and still no problem.
king slayer I also give my friend a tiny bit of apple but as a treat really and organic / local unsprayed and def as he says in the video NO green bits of potato and only as a treat and NOT raw . I also NEVER give my friend pig flesh
I saw someone feed her little dog maltesers continual until the pack finished, if I'd known it was poisonous it'd have informed her, it's probably dead now.
Exactly.... My husky ate brownies, cookies and choc cake weekly. He lived to be 13 yrs old... past his expected range due to his size. He lived a full life, happy and full of chocolate.
@@pauldow1648 My point is that it only takes a little bit of common sense to know that not all dogs are affected by chocolate.... and it does not shorten their lives either. That is the problem with people these days. They cannot think for themselves. They can't do their own research... all they can do is believe what google says.
@Richard Gomez Why am I commenting?? LOL!! Why are you commenting? You are the idiot that gave your dog beer... and my dog didn't die. He lived a long full life.
asdf fdsa Lol, bro chill out. As long as Taco Cat doesn't feed the cat peanut butter every single day in large doses the cat should be fine. ^_^ A small amount of natural, unprocessed peanut butter once every few months for the cat as a treat WILL NOT harm the cat. It's not like she wants to feed the cat deep fried belly pork everyday or something... ( '-')

It may be you made a mistake and put the wrong link there when you created the webpage but again when I clicked the link to see the legal information it sent me to the same "Thank You" page I had clicked that link on in the first place. Just thought you may want to address that.
J DaVid I love strawberries, but in Mexico I learned not to eat them because unless doubly disinfected, they can and do give you salmonela. Why tempt fate if you love your dog?
_Lucy Cat_ Maybe because it was just once? Of course you can feed him till the cows come home, and wait for him to have seizures or suffer, or perhaps check with other vets as well, who may know more than you do. MAybe they will suggest a limited amount that is safe, I hope so for your dog’s sake.
hi, doc Jones. Thank you for the helpful info. I just have a question. If a dog ingested something they shouldn't and have been vomiting persistently, do I have to just leave it until he retch the thing out? Or do I have to bring him to the vet so vomiting would be stopped? Would be really helpful in times of emergency..
You don't know what you don't know. That's why life is one long learning curve. Also being informed by a vet is more accurate than by some random person. Btw. It's appalled not applaud.
Don't believe the here say about dogs should not eat meat. Not true at all. I don't believe there is much more than cereal & grain in dry dog foods. Processed also.
Raw bacon - raw meats- not cooked- cooked meat has the opposite effects on dogs- they need the raw meats in order to get the proper bacteria for their gut (Immune support)
Unless you own a Great Dane, you are probably larger than your dog. Your larger body can process compounds in amounts that, to a smaller animal, would be toxic.
My dog loves chocolate, I have to be careful because i always share almost everything with him. I will admit he has had too much chocolate, just got lucky I guess.
Oops! Premature send. There is a stray cat here that has missing hair around his neck and sores that do not appear infected. They tried hot spot med with no help. No obvious flea infestation. Skin and hair are very dry and eats cheap kibble so I suspect nutritional deficiencies. Can I use coconut oil topically on the sores of a cat? Would also like to give fish oil in his food if ok to do. What would be the dose for a medium sized cat? Thx!
Could you do a segment on how to cure dogs of chewing their feet and legs? I rescued a street dog that does this and it is breaking my heart. His cone slips and I tried a towel around his neck, but he lost his neck hair and the cone irritates his neck. the poor dog needs another solution.
I know they say tea is forbidden. However, I had 2 Yorkie's &a few times a week I made them a weak tea. I added a little milk & honey to it. I would ring this little tea bell & they would come running! They were licking their lips as I put their tea in tiny bowls. It was the cutest thing to watch and listen to. In seconds the tea vanished from their special Royal Doulton "Tea-Time" bowls. I also cooked for them. Because of The anti-oxidants in tea I thought it would be good for them. My one Yorkshire Terrier lived to be 18 years old and my other Yorkshire Terrier lived to be 21 years of age. But when they passed, I cried more for them than when my Grandmother passed away
Thanks Andrew.I gave my Rottweiler,a10 month old pup, raisin bran cereal near bedtime.During the night she was sick, twice. She ate about 4 raisins.I was trying to remember and think of what made her sick.I remembered the raisins and looked it up and freaked when i read 3 grams of raisins are very toxic or even lethal.Thank god I didn't give her more.Want to also warn people about the beef soup bones mostly the ones that are long and hollow.Inside is this white soft fatty stuff.Nearly lost a dog because of advice that they always give them to their dogs. Also advice to put a couple of spoonfuls of bacon grease on their crunchy dog food. My dog ate all the soft fatty stuff from the middle of the Soup bones and combined with the Bacon grease;it caused Pancreatitis. He went downhill in what seamed like minutes, very weak where this strong and powerful 150 pound Rottweiler could not even lift his head up..I rushed him to the Vet and he almost died. The Vet said these soup bones are some of the worse things you could give your give dog.He then he warned me after a 3 day hospital stay;saying next time he probably won't survive this. Nothing worse then killing your best buddy with love poison.Dogs are very persuasive when it come to getting food from their master and everyone else.i now leave my dog outside when we eat.She now only gets small amounts as a treat.Non fatty meat such as skinless chicken breast;cooked without grease.Take care of what you feed your pet.Seeing your buddy this sick,it is scary.Don't listen to people who swear this is a bunch bull shit adding they give their dogs this all the time, and it never hurt them.Believe me this is very serious.Feed them the right proper foods they require,so they will live a long healthy life.Take advice from your vet and not unqualified people.
Sir could u pls say the dosage of hydrogen peroxide and activated charcoal.???for 20kg dog???and will it be safe to be used when dogs get poisoned???one of my local said to feed raw egg to nutrilize the poison and then they vomit it out.Can eggs and activated charcoal be given together????
I have a pit bull. 6 years old and we just had a crazy incident where we almost lost him. He ate his dinner the night before, we always feed the same. The next morning he was excited about his walk. He had some loose stool and I thought since he had an appointment that afternoon with the vet to get his vaccinations that I would mention this when we went in. I thought my biggest challenge was gonna be dragging him muzzled with my husband pushing from behind. All the while my darling boy leaving a trail of fear induced pee and poop from the door to the room. Yep good times, but boy was I wrong.I kept going out to check on him while we got ready to go. Went out and he was trembling and laying in a puddle of blood. The smell was horrible and he just kept bleeding. Rushed him in as emergency and they-took him right in and started working on him. Kept him a couple days and we brought him home with several meds. Doc said some something he ate. All 5 of our dogs eat the same. They stay in huge runs in very rural town. I cannot figure what happened. And I NEVER want him to have to ever go through that again but I don’t know what” THAT” was. We had had a weird caterpillar infestation through the whole town and they were going through the pens by the hundreds and 2 of them just wouldn’t stay away from them, but that was almost a week prior. The caterpillars would vomit this weird green goo when disturbed but again that was a week prior. So many people in the town were complaint about their dogs eating the darn things, but only one dog down the road had green behind and slight paralysis. Haha boy I can really make a story long. Sorry 🐾
I thank you for the information for cats and dogs, I used dandelion tea for my cat’s heart murmur cough and it works, I wish you live in Toronto Ontario Canada I will bring my cat to see you in person.
Foods containing persin, that just cause gastrointestinal distress, should not be listed with truly dangerous things like nutmeg, onions or chocolate. Also, I don't think it would be a very good idea to try to induce vomiting if your dog eats rising dough. The most pressing concern would be the bloating, which would be exacerbated by hydrogen peroxide, as H2O2 releases a lot of gas, just like the dough.
My dog has eaten apples and cherries, along with bacon on occasions, and so far he's never done any of the effects mentioned in those foods. Still I won't give them to him all the time, only on occasions.
can you use this one if your dog has kennel cough?? so that the mucus inside the dogs body will be released by vomiting? using the using water and hydrogen peroxide?
If given in measured amounts, garlic is safe for your dog, and this has been shown in veterinary practice with thousands of animals. Please read Dr Susan Wynn's reference text and the section on garlic for dogs and cats here: bit.ly/2RsUwOA

I saw someone feed her little dog maltesers continual until the pack finished, if I'd known it was poisonous it'd have informed her, it's probably dead now.
Very helpful! Thank you!

Thanks this was very informative and a bit more medical than usual pet advice.
My dog loves grapes and she is 18 years old!
Exactly.... My husky ate brownies, cookies and choc cake weekly. He lived to be 13 yrs old... past his expected range due to his size. He lived a full life, happy and full of chocolate.
Well it can shorten its life
@@CMKA91 so what's your point ?
@@pauldow1648 My point is that it only takes a little bit of common sense to know that not all dogs are affected by chocolate.... and it does not shorten their lives either. That is the problem with people these days. They cannot think for themselves. They can't do their own research... all they can do is believe what google says.
@Richard Gomez Why am I commenting?? LOL!! Why are you commenting? You are the idiot that gave your dog beer... and my dog didn't die. He lived a long full life.
Thanks Dr jones ❤
What about kale or spinach

I haven't finished watching the video but... I really hope peanut butter isnt poisonous to cats...
Generally nope
If your cat loves peanut butter perhaps you can try and switch over to coconut oil - max of 1tsp a day
make sure your not feeding the reg peanut butter with xylitol [fake sugar) buy the natural
asdf fdsa Lol, bro chill out. As long as Taco Cat doesn't feed the cat peanut butter every single day in large doses the cat should be fine. ^_^
A small amount of natural, unprocessed peanut butter once every few months for the cat as a treat WILL NOT harm the cat. It's not like she wants to feed the cat deep fried belly pork everyday or something... ( '-')

Just so you know your link labeled "legal information" sends me back to the "Thank You" page. I tried it on my phone and laptop also on my friends laptop and phone. It may be you made a mistake and put the wrong link there when you created the webpage but again when I clicked the link to see the legal information it sent me to the same "Thank You" page I had clicked that link on in the first place. Just thought you may want to address that.
my dog loves green grape
J DaVid your profile is cuuuuuute
J DaVid I love strawberries, but in Mexico I learned not to eat them because unless doubly disinfected, they can and do give you salmonela. Why tempt fate if you love your dog?
Also i have learned so much from you just from past 2 hrs watching ur videos
Thanks again :-)
I FED MY PUPPY BACON LAST WEEK AND HE'S FINE!

GET DOGGIE TREATS WITH BACON, COMMON SENSE!!
hi, doc Jones. Thank you for the helpful info. I just have a question. If a dog ingested something they shouldn't and have been vomiting persistently, do I have to just leave it until he retch the thing out? Or do I have to bring him to the vet so vomiting would be stopped? Would be really helpful in times of emergency..
I just gave my dog a onion flavored chip 😭😭 will she be okay?
+Stefan Bobic no
+Matt Z one chip wont be real bad
+Matt Z One chip can't hurt her... Just don't give her anymore... besides most flavorings are artificial, they aren't made with real onions and stuff
M.Zelenka_ one chip is ok but no more giving dogs onion chips

I AM SO APPLAUD HOW SOME ANIMAL/PET LOVERS DON'T KNOW ALL ABOUT THE CAUTIONS OF FOOD THEY LET THEIR BABES EAT. JESUS LORD!!!!
You don't know what you don't know. That's why life is one long learning curve. Also being informed by a vet is more accurate than by some random person. Btw. It's appalled not applaud.
sharpei ear flush? also what is considered fatty?
Don't believe the here say about dogs should not eat meat. Not true at all. I don't believe there is much more than cereal & grain in dry dog foods. Processed also.
Raw bacon - raw meats- not cooked- cooked meat has the opposite effects on dogs- they need the raw meats in order to get the proper bacteria for their gut (Immune support)
Hi, What about Zuquini??
Don’t say that they can’t eat apples say they can’t eat the leaves or seeds😡🙄
What about Carob? Does that contain theobromine?

Unless you own a Great Dane, you are probably larger than your dog. Your larger body can process compounds in amounts that, to a smaller animal, would be toxic.
Yes
My dog loves chocolate, I have to be careful because i always share almost everything with him. I will admit he has had too much chocolate, just got lucky I guess.
My dog loves grapes and eats them all the time. She is fine
Amoni Gallaher but grapes can cause kidney failure! :(
You're fukcing stupid!

Thx!
over the counter H2O2 has toxic stabilizers that disallow it to transmute to water. would it not be more wise to use foodgrade?
Could you do a segment on how to cure dogs of chewing their feet and legs? I rescued a street dog that does this and it is breaking my heart. His cone slips and I tried a towel around his neck, but he lost his neck hair and the cone irritates his neck. the poor dog needs another solution.
TAKE HIM TO YOUR VET FOR CHRIST SAKE!!
Thank you so much sir

Do you know if avocados are bad for yorkies? I feed my yorkie Avoderm

Wow....That was a long paragraph.
I learned a lesson, not to just feed my dog anything.
Brian Mullan why you tellin' me to but bacon grease in my dog's food? you want me to kill my dogs? dang you don't need any more animals dummy

Is curd good for dogs
Thanks
Are sliced apples or apples without stems okay? My mom sometimes give my dogs apples.
Yes
Thank u
Welcome
Foods containing persin, that just cause gastrointestinal distress, should not be listed with truly dangerous things like nutmeg, onions or chocolate.
Also, I don't think it would be a very good idea to try to induce vomiting if your dog eats rising dough. The most pressing concern would be the bloating, which would be exacerbated by hydrogen peroxide, as H2O2 releases a lot of gas, just like the dough.
oh butter and cheese and sometimes human milk is that ok too?
My dog has eaten apples and cherries, along with bacon on occasions, and so far he's never done any of the effects mentioned in those foods. Still I won't give them to him all the time, only on occasions.
the stem and stone are toxic. apple it self is good ..
can you use this one if your dog has kennel cough?? so that the mucus inside the dogs body will be released by vomiting? using the using water and hydrogen peroxide?
Thank you for the video, is garlic toxic for dogs?
If given in measured amounts, garlic is safe for your dog, and this has been shown in veterinary practice with thousands of animals. Please read Dr Susan Wynn's reference text and the section on garlic for dogs and cats here:

Tablet or liquid of Black walnut safe? I've read it prevents intestinal worms
Hi Dr Jones,
Your channel is extremely informative and helpful! I have a question for you. I noticed that some pet products may contain grain alcohol (less than 3% by volume). Are they safe to cats and dogs? Should we avoid these products for our pets?
Yan, your new subcriber from Hong Kong
i also have this question.
So is the apple only the fruit not the stem ot seeds good for dogs
Hi Daniel,
Correct - the fruit is fine
Oh ok thank you
88% dog owners poisoning her dog slowly everyday? You might be one?
Correct,we are almost all guilty of doing this.We kill them with love.Best to leave the dog outside during meals.

Can you give onion flavoring, like cooking with onions but not the actual onion fiber
I would really appreciate your online book, but I can not figure out how to see it. I have two Pitties. Bob is almost 14 and Razzle is 2years old.
