If you are ever around Baltimore, MD, you should check out the Bay Bridge. It is very easy to cross, but lots of people with various phobias have to avoid it (height, water, no escape route, claustrophobia because there is a tunnel, etc.).
Another interesting idea for connections, ferries. Two islands you mentioned have ferries, Victoria island in British Columbia and Iceland. An interesting concept, Iceland has ferry service from somewhere in Scandinavia, Denmark I believe. Now if someone makes ferry service from Canada to Iceland then you can drive from North America to Europe and Asia. A bridge across the Bering Straight from Alaska to Siberia is impractical, due to not roads within hundreds of miles on either side. Ferries do a major service, I live in Manitowoc Wisconsin less than a mile from the SS Badger car ferry dock. I find it amazing the massive loads that they put on it. Another thing I would like to do sometime, Mackinac bridge across the Mackinac straits has an event on Labor Day to walk across the bridge.
years ago, there was a proposal to build a new version of the West Side Highway in NYC. To improve chances of this, they tore down the old highway, but they never got around to building the new one. I remember an interview in the Village Voice with one of the contractors who reportedly said " i don't care what they want. We'll build a goddamn pyramid if that's what they want. We don't care."
I agree, but a lot of people underestimate how truly massive Indonesia is. The only major one that would really be feasible from a distance standpoint would be Java - Sumatra.
Argentina's claim is baseless. Natives from that area have never gone to the Island and it was discovered by both the British and I think the Spanish. The British were there first though and made it a colony before the country of Argentina has been established.

Actually, the bridge between Sicily and continental Italy is a real project that is scheduled since the 90's but that continues to be postponed. All the vicissitudes of the project can be found searching Strait of Messina Bridge on Google.
yeah, i know the area is seismic and the water is deep, but with current engineering and far longer bridges built also in deep waters and seismic areas around the world is almost crazy to think there isn't any connection yet between Sicily and the rest of Italy, it would help to develop the south a little more i think, a severe checks must also be done to exclude risks of any involvement of illegal organisations given the history of those areas.
Stranraer is not the current ferry route, it moved to Cairnryan. That Isle of Man plan is actually insane, but I do think the Orkney bridge would make sense. Anotherone is Sicily to mainland Italy. A fixed link there would mostly benift the railways though, since the shunting process for the ferries are quite elaborate. But there is probably a geological reason why the Messina-San Giovanni Fixed Link is not being built.. Although that being said, they did build the Golden Gate Bridge, which has arguaby more wind and seismic wear and tare... But I could see a bridge, or causeway, between Istanbul and Bursa.
It used to make a lot of sense. What makes more sense now would be for Northern Ireland become an additional 6 counties joining the 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland to make a final Republic of Ireland that takes up the entirety of the Island of Ireland, and Derry can just be called Derry and there will be no need to refer to Londonderry.
I live in Alabama, I've been to New Orleans around 3 times, only easy way to get there to go over the Lake Pontchartrain Bridge, that thing is amazing to see, and weird to drive, in the middle, you literally just see nothing but water, and not far from the interstate(I-10), is the railroad bridge, I've seen images of the Amtrak Crescent going over it, that's scary to be in a train going over that lake, the South is an interesting place to live in.
The Beaufort's Dyke is 300 meters approximately 1000 feet deep. Just dig the tunnel 1500 meters below the sea bed and pass 1090's of metres below Beaufort's Dyke. The Towers of a bridge would be either side of the Dyke.
I actually have a idea for the Galloway route making it rather sensible, here in Norway a new national highway is being built along the coast and we have a lot of fjords, they are sometimes extremely deep so normally you have to take 20-40 ferries to use the highway, to prevent this the new one is being built with bridges and tunnels over every fjord, Norwegians love tunnels qnd roundabouts, we have them everywhere, anyway some of the fjords are like 1km+ of deapth and still are going to have a tunnel or tunnel/bridge combo built depending on which fjord with sea routes remaining unaffected being the priority, and the solution on many of theese deep fjords were floating tunnels, the tunnel is strapped to pontoons on the surface with enough distance and room between the pontoons for ships to cross over the tunnel and the tunnel is a set distance below the surface away from the ships, on some of theese fhords the tunnel surfaces halfway and becomes a bridge with the tunnel section being a ship crossing section
The problem with a Bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland is that it will be closed by storms for approximately 100 days a year. A tunnel though more expensive per mile will be closed by the weather for approximately 0 days per year. It will be of similar length to the Channel Tunnel but will be driven though harder rock not chalk and clay. A rail tunnel would be a good idea since the road connections in Scotland are dire. The major problem is stopping the Irish Lunatics blowing it up. We need to talk to Civil Engineers with tunnelling experience and Geologists who are familiar with the rock formations under the Irish sea and get them to carry out a detailed study on its construction and economists to evaluate its possible utiliaization. The Republic of Ireland could also have an input as one could run trains from Dublin through Northern Ireland to the UK and through the Channel tunnel to the rest of the EU. This assumes that the EU remains in existence long enough for the tunnel to be completed.
Don't Forget the Lake Constance interchange and the Neusiedersee the Austria-Hungry Friendship bridge. Then ther are the more ambitious Trans-Alpine Biriges The Germany Italy Trans Brenner Pass Bridge, The Schladming-Innsbruck-Vorarlberg Bridge so we finally have a Rail link inside of Austria instead of driving true Germany and the direct Vienna-Zurich Trans-Alpine Overpass. Unlike the cheating swiss, we will not tunnel under the Mountains but instead, we will build bridges that go above and Over the Alps.

Bridge Greenland to Canada.
Bridge Russia ro Alaska.
Bridge USA to UK.
Bridge Panama to Colombia.
"Bridge USA to UK." no thanks
That was a joke. it is probably impossible to do that anyway.
It might be possible through Canada, Greenland and Iceland.
Panama and Colombia share borders Why would they need a bridge?
I mean bridge to more accessible areas. The Panama Colombia border Is not that accessible.
13:52 excuse me, this roundabout is not made up. It connects the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy in the Faroe Islands. It opened up december last year ✌🏻
"Orkney Island"
*Draws bridge to Western Isles*
We need a bridge through the Earth. I'm so tired of having to fly around it.
Which two cities should we build this bridge too?
Omg I used that pathway in Google Earth to make "Alternate Rails"
Another one.
Indonesia would be an interesting one
I agree, but a lot of people underestimate how truly massive Indonesia is. The only major one that would really be feasible from a distance standpoint would be Java - Sumatra.
It's impossible for Croatia to join Schengen if their entire country isn't continously connected. so that's why the EU is funding the bridge.
The tuskar route is referring to tuskar rock a rock with a lighthouse 12 miles of the coast of Ireland
“The Falkland Islands are part of the uk” - you sir, just made, a lot of people very, very angry
I still think Argentina won that war.
@@pauljackson3491 In what world did Argentina win the war?
@@pauljackson3491 ???
Argentina's claim is baseless. Natives from that area have never gone to the Island and it was discovered by both the British and I think the Spanish. The British were there first though and made it a colony before the country of Argentina has been established.
@@pauljackson3491 lol what?
Bridges/ tunnels that need to be built:
Scotland to Northern Ireland
India to Sri Lanka
Spain to Morocco
Japan to South Korea
Alaska to Siberia
Wales to Ireland
Estonia to Finland
Italy to Albania
USA to Cuba
Djibouti to Yemen
UAE to Iran
Singapore to Indonesia
Australia to New Zealand
Chile to Antarctica
Scotland to Iceland
Iceland to Greenland
Greenland to Canada
Portugal to the USA
The Philippines to Mexico
But most importantly:
Scotland to the Isle of Man
England to the Isle of Man
Wales to the Isle of Man
Northen Ireland to the Isle of Man
Ireland to the Isle of Man
Every major population centre to the Isle of Man
The Moon to the Isle of Man
just put a nether portal in the underground isle of man roundabout
What about all the other planets, dwarf planets, moons, asteroids?
Personally I would go for a bridge between Wales and Cork because both have strong existing connections and it would be really cool getting a direct train from London to Dublin
and then dublin to belfast
i love how your videos are a very intresting info dump
You always find a way to bring up your partial Sri Lankan heritage Toycat
Am I the only one knowing only his second channel ?
Nice video !
Same lol
I only know the second and third lol
@@benkolya there's a third one?? 😐
@@benkolya I didn't know about the third one lol
It's called Andrew Andrews
something about the isle of man roundabout idea is super satisfying
"Canakkale 1915 Bridge" is commenced to open in March 2022. It will connect Europe and Asia over Dardanelles for the first time in the history.
Now there's a thought...
I live in Alabama, I've been to New Orleans around 3 times, only easy way to get there to go over the Lake Pontchartrain Bridge, that thing is amazing to see, and weird to drive, in the middle, you literally just see nothing but water, and not far from the interstate(I-10), is the railroad bridge, I've seen images of the Amtrak Crescent going over it, that's scary to be in a train going over that lake, the South is an interesting place to live in.
if the scotland - ireland bridge were built the ira would come back just to demolish it
The Beaufort's Dyke is 300 meters approximately 1000 feet deep. Just dig the tunnel 1500 meters below the sea bed and pass 1090's of metres below Beaufort's Dyke. The Towers of a bridge would be either side of the Dyke.
I shared this with RCE and the time stamp where you express your love of briges
Screw it and just make a bridge to the Falklands..
no a bridge from the UK to the Falklands i think is what Jernofenz meant

Hmmm Ireland and northern Ireland also have a historic connection
Weird /s
21:48 yes toycat you spent an entire hour on that puzzle and kept it in the video because yeah.
I did indeed live in Pune once. And I laughed at how you pronounced it
If we can build bridges in Minecraft, why not N Ireland
Cus tories are the ones managing it
A bridge will never be built to Northern Ireland. It's financially unviable.

A bridge between Argentina and Uruguay over the Rio de la Plata has also been discussed. Here, I'm referring to between Buenos Aires and Colonia, Uruguay.
