  • 45231 'The Sherwood Forester, 46100 'Royal Scot" and Class 40 diesel D213 'Andania' ran the Welsh Marchess Whistler from Lancaster to Bristol and back (steam from Crewe to Bristol and diesel hauled on the return) This was a positioning move for the steamers in preparation for their respective runs to Devon in the coming weeks.
Starting off at Woofferton, the train passes the long closed station but with its historic steam-era lower quadrant semaphore signals, which the Welsh Marches line remarkably still has. The next locations see the train race up the climb to Llanfihangel through Pandy at two different spots.
On the return working, D213 works up Filton Bank through the remains of Ashley Hill station.

Great location choices Ryan, with all three locos running superbly.

Thought I'd go for something different with this run on going to a few less used locations which is fun to do 🙂

At least the signal box is still here as it did during the steam days and and of course there used to be 3 platforms here platform 3 located on the left behind the semaphore signal is for the branch line services to Bridgnorth and platforms 1 and 2 is for the mainline services to Shrewsbury and Hereford

There used to be the bridge in the background years ago and now it’s gone completely and the bridge you are standing on mate marks the border between Shropshire and Herefordshire Herefordshire behind you and Shropshire ahead of you
