LOVE the idea of the audio tour. It is so important for heritage railways to try and find new income and new initiatives ... and this is a great one!!! I look forward to trying it soon!

The best heritage railway UA-cam channel in my opinion

I would hope that some coaches did not have the audio tour playing. I have to admit that one thing I like about heritage railways is that you get away from modern tech, and can just enjoy the sights and sounds and smell of travel like it used to be. So I would hope it was something not broadcast to the whole of the train. Other than I think it's a great idea, I would certainly like to experience it at least once, to learn some things I may have not already known, but not necessarily something I would want on every trip. My daughters recently moved to Alton, so am hoping to have regular visits to your fantastic railway.

I believe the plan is to play it in half the coaches on the train (from talking to Will earlier, those one side or other of the guard's compartment). I'm not a fan either personally!

Hi there, fear not we have you covered! The audio-tour train will feature a mix of coaches playing the audio and some regular coaches so passengers have the option to listen to the tour or go for a more traditional style journey. The tour coaches will be labelled, so no one gets any unexpected surprises!

Thoroughly enjoyed this latest video, especially the tech stuff around the audio tour, which is right up my street! I'm only 30 minutes away from the railway which is so handy for regular visits. Latest was in fact last Thursday in the torrential rain, when I had good look at the two coaches during a brief shelter in the carriage workshop!

Any thought of configuring the audio for Hearing Aid T Loops?

Great work with the A/V tech!
Come to think of it, I’d assume heritage rail visitors come I two “main flavours”…? One seeking an all-in-one experience, while the other maybe the “insiders” wishing to deepen their knowledge by digging for details in their field of interest.
That’s very anecdotal on me though - my wife (and family in general) would probably enjoy the full experience, while I would get stuck at the signal box nagging for logistical details (says audio engineer through 4 decades, but lifelong rail transport enthusiast)…😅

Thank you! We're hoping it'll be a brilliant success!
You're right we do generally see a couple of flavours of visitors to our railway. From enthusiasts who want that authentic experience and a good look around, to families who are looking for a fun day out for all the family. The challenge all railways / heritage attractions face is trying to get the best of both worlds and to give everyone a brilliant day out!

...I can certainly relate to getting stuck in signal boxes and seeing how they work!

I'm kinda with `100Steveb` I would sooner be listening to the real world sounds, than having a narration of what was going on, unless that is what I wanted. An `LNER` style "Quite coach" would be nice, so we can drift back to those times we remember, and not be faced with a barrage of modern `Overtech`!

You would add value if the audio guide was an add-on to the ticket available only in certain carriages.

Great work. But: "hit that like and subscribe button"? They're separate buttons! "hit the like button and subscribe if you haven't already" would be better. 🙂
