I'm so glad to hear your baby girl is on the mend. I'm not a mom but I was an EMT for 20 years and I've seen the fear and helplessness in parents too many times. I cannot imagine how that feels. But I can tell you that each and every staff member of that hospital that worked with your baby was truly overjoyed to see her improve and go home.
They were wonderful.

Very happy to hear that Caitlin is improving. When they are so tiny they don’t understand what’s going on, it’s so scary for all of you. RSV is very dangerous for babies. I always worry when my grandsons get sick, keeping RSV in mind… thanks for sharing Caitlin’s story with us Kelly. God bless you and the family.
Oh RSV just sucks! Poor baby! I was taking care of my nephew and he got RSV. He was almost 2. He and I went to one ER and were whisked via ambulance to one of Boston Children’s branches. . So scary and I had at that time 2 kids with nasty asthma. I had been in ERs with them but nothing like this. Like you described, you know it’s bad when everyone comes running! Praying for healing for Katilyn and rest for her parents!

You are so creative with your scene cards! Your coloring is beatiful. I love the card. I am so glad that your baby girl is doing better. This made me cry as it brought back my own journey with my two year old son being diagnosed with diabetes. I too stood in the ER room crying feeling helpless as the doctors and nurses were rushing around with IV"s and catherters. I thank God for the health care workers. My son is 22 now. I could have lost him if it weren't for them.
His regular pediatrician did not test him, even though all the symptoms were there, he thought I was just another paranoid first time mom. He never laid eyes on my son again and eventually called us to apologize for his oversight. I'm glad she us feeling much better now!!! Praying for your family for continued good health!

I started crying when you had to pause. I can't imagine how horrible you must have felt watching all this happening to your sweet baby girl. You helped her by monitoring her so closely and getting her the help she needed.

love how you used the rainbow stamp to make the water. so thankful Kaitlyn is better, it is so scary when they are little, my son got choked after he was born by c-section & turned blue, I was hooked up still to IVs myself, my husband had just walked back in the room, I scream, he gets a nurse, they take him to the nursery & clean him out. it was horrifying. We were told it could happen up to about 6 months. we carried one of those snot suckers around for probably 9 mo. God watches over them & takes care of them when we can't, thank you Jesus!

Glad to hear baby Kaitlyn is feeling better! 🙏 My baby was born in September and went to daycare also and had servere respitory problems. You did want any mother would and should do when she cannot help, you took her to a place where people/ hospital staff jumped in and took over. We can't always control life's little tests, but it's satisfying to know trained people are there to help. YOU ARE GREAT PARENTS!!!
Oh Kelly, so sorry you all had such a scare and poor little Kaitlin. Glad she is home and recouping. None of my kids ever had RSV but I know it is/ can be very serious in small children especially premies. When my son was 6 was he got bronchitis and when my daughter was 3 yrs old she contracted spinal meningitis. That was so awful. They had to give her a spinal tap; I could here her screaming down the hallway. Oh it’s just so awful when your child gets sick. This card turned out so pretty and the lotus flowers are my favorite. Good luck and I pray Kaitlin gets better and stronger with each day❤️❤️❤️
Thank God everyone is ok. I’m so sorry. Scary! I remember when my daughter has pneumonia. A mom feels so helpless. Prayers for continued recovery for you. Card is beautiful!

Wow thank you for RSV info. I didn’t know about it either. Love the emboss resist the water looks amazing. I also agree about the darkness of the fish but love the card overall. I really like you share your struggles during making the card or afterwards. I hope you never have to go through another hospital visit like that I have only had 2 between both my children when I felt helpless and it is a terrible feeling as a parent.

You did the best that you could and brought her directly to the best place! We have also experienced this helplessness and worse was to see my husband break down in sobs once the hospital staff took over… but we also had a wonderful outcome! So happy and thankful that sweet Katelyn is feeling better and that her wonderful parents are Kelly & Eric!

I am so thankful she is getting better. I lost my grandson at 16 months to RSV. He was in the hospital after having a surgery. He contracted RSV at the hospital. His oxygen levels kept dropping. He was put on a vent. He ended up having a massive heart attack and sadly passed at 16 months of age. That was 8 years ago and it is still hard to cope with today. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and wonder who he would be today. RSV is no joke and can be very deadly. So glad to hear Kaitlynn is improving getting better.

The fish do look dark but they don’t look bad. Mason has Asthma and has had it since little, he’s 11 now. He was pretty sick last month and just couldn’t shake it. I told my SIL that I think it’s Asthma. His cough sounds different when it’s Asthma. We had to give him breathing treatments and he started getting better after them. I’m glad she is doing much better.
I saw the water arch from the beginning, I was a bit surprised that it was a rainbow 🌈 to begin with, I love to look at things sort of impressionistic-ly!

I never heard of RSV. How terrifying it must have been to watch your baby go through all of that. Thank goodness you made the call you did to take her in. Wow. I like how you put the broken lines and dots on the fish - it makes such a difference. I hope you and Eric can get some rest and get better, too. I can imagine you both want to watch her like a hawk 24/7.

That was my initial diagnosis after working in a peds office for years. RSV presents as a mild illness that quickly, within a matter of a few minutes sometimes, turns ugly. Thank goodness you have an astute husband who can recognize these symptoms immediately.
My ❤️ goes out to both of you for what you went through. I have hugged many a mother or father who felt helpless when their child was in crisis. Please consider this a virtual hug. ❤️❤️💐

My sweet Kelly, I can't even imagine how you felt. I'm so sorry that you went through this. You are a rock star of a mother and NEVER forget that. You did everything within your power. Wow! I'm sooooo grateful she's going to be okay! I had no idea that RSV was so dangerous to the very young! My granddaughter is 3 and when her mother brought her back from her visit last weekend she mentioned that Athena had it, but I didn't think much about it, just checked to make sure I had Tylenol etc for her symptoms that I knew she'd have...she's over it now and just like when she caught co-vid (ugh, daycare!), she remained her bouncy happy self. What a tremendous scare! You definitely got me on this one girl! I was full on bawling by the time you got her to the hospital! 😭 I'm definitely relieved!! 😊 I just want to say, I appreciate your story times! Often you say or speak on something that resonates with me and I find myself wanting to talk to you badly, but I don't. I COULDN'T help myself this time! Whew! Thank you for ALL of your stories, they mean a lot to me. I can honestly say now, "I laughed, I cried..." LOL Take care and thank you! ❤

I had never heard of RSV until Covid hit, and in Florida, there seemed to be a good bit of it last year in south Florida.
So very happy to hear Kaitlin ( probably misspelled) is recovering well. Sounds like a very stressful and harrowing week. There is nothing worse than having a sick baby and not knowing exactly what the issue is.

Like the use of the rainbow for water-good idea I think the black ink probably wasn’t the best but the coloring got so dark they don’t look like koi any longer - they should be very light & bright with lots of pure white,

Oh, Kelly - how awful an experience for all of you! :( I am not generally one to get emotional over others' distress (I just tend not to connect with people much), but even I got a bit choked up when you were talking about how helpless you felt in the ER room. I have heard of RSV, but (not being a parent to human children) never really knew what it is. Certainly not how dangerous it can be for babies. I am so glad you were able to get to the ER at a hospital where they actually seemed to care & know what they were doing. I felt suspicious when you were telling us about your first ER visit with Kaitlyn on that Thursday, since they didn't monitor her O2 levels, didn't give her fluids, etc. Like, they weren't doing everything I would think they should do. So I'm glad you had another option for a hospital. I'm also glad to hear that Kaitlyn is doing better. I did have to smile when you mentioned she peed all over the bed when they were trying to catheterize her. Having had what they call an in-and-out catheter once (the nurse had to be sure she could get a clean urine sample), I frankly don't blame her for doing that. I see it as kind of a protest against discomfort! :) Anyway, thank you for keeping the story going, even if it did take 3 segments. I love how your card came out, too. One thing to note about koi fish, is that they do often have black spots or patches on their bodies. In your case, though (since you did ask), since there was so much black with the stamping, I kind of think they got a little muddy. I wonder if you had used lighter or brighter oranges for the Copic coloring, if that might have helped. Or maybe stamped in a slightly lighter ink, though not necessarily no-line coloring territory. Maybe like a mid-tone grey. Anyway, just my suggestions for future, since I'm sure you'll use this stamp set again. Well, I've rambled on long enough. Take care, and have an awesome day! :)

Beautiful card. Thanks for the tip about either waiting to color in order to let the ink dry or hitting it with the heat tool. I really don't know how parents deal with a sick baby because you can't explain to them why they feel the way they do and why dad is holding her while they poke her with a needle. At least she got some revenge while they were trying to catheritize (I know that is spelled wrong) her. Take care because you still don't sound very well (unless it's all allergies) and I am so glad you have both your mother and mother in law sort of close by to help. It must be such a relief for you and Eric. Thanks for the video and I may go look at the sale to see must have stuff.

Oh my goodness. Your card is beautiful but I really wanted to know how that sweet baby was. I constantly worried when my babies were little. My daughter was really sick with that but she was 2 years old. They still had to put her in the hospital. So scary. I hope she continues to get better every day. I hope you get better soon as well. Oh Kelly, so happy to hear she is home and doing well. As a parent I know how scary ER trips were with my child. And as an ER nurse I know how scary this is for parents. Its amazing how children bounce back, once hydrated, reduce fever, some help with oxygen. You sound a little better yourself. Take care dearheart. Love your card!

Oh Kelly, hugs to you and your whole family. Once I took my son to emergency, he was 14 and I was carrying him: his arm over my shoulder, my arm around his waist and holding on to his hand that was over my shoulder, he was trying to walk but couldn’t. (His father was parking the car.) At least 3 or 4 nurses came running before my son’s bottom hit the seat. They were fantastic. It was awful though. I’m glad things are getting better.
