Game score is identical on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.Have about 20 hours into those versions right now. But so far they are doing well and getting either PS4 or Xbox one versions are a big step up from past versions. PC 4k - unlocked frames Locked 30 on all consoles Xbox One 1080 PS4 1080 Ps4pro 1440
Thanks Karak, bummer that consoles are only 30 frames but I'm still going to pick this up. Any difference really between PS4 and Xbox One? Do you know if online (Xbox Gold or PS+) are required for the pawn system?
Yeah, I wouldn't say it was ignored at the time, but it definitely flew under the radar for many people, which is odd given just how good it is. The combat system - the depth, variety, epicness, etc - is some of the best to be had in video gaming, regardless of genre.
I was so disappointed in myself when it became a backwards compatible. I didn't think it would be carried over so it was one of the first titles I traded
i got a question guys, im iffy about getting this game(only have a ps4)...besides the great combat, what about evrything else...to me for example DA inquisition's story looks ass and boring, and i do care about good questing/story/lore/exploring and such too besides good combat/gameplay, so will this game be better in comparison or in general...i do love souls games even with how their storys are done in a sparse way and i pretty much played it all/everyhing else too...besides some new games, this is really one of my only old backlogs left...i do kind of hate too dated graphics today though esp if it gives off dated limited design and such too (maybe from going back and killing all these backlogs and seeing how many aged bad)...idk if thats enough to describe if ill care for this game and with that said; is this game worth picking up today or am i better off just focusing on newer games until a fresh new sequel for this comes (because lets be real its probably inevitable it gets one, maybe it will be announced at E3)...i really appreciate it thanx
+ZeroHxC07 Agreed. This was an amazing RPG when i first played in on 360 years back. Blew all those bethesda rpgs out of the water IMO. Why dont we have more adventure rpgs with a party system?
Even if you played it on the last gen consoles this is worth a repurchase. Heck it's on sale for a few days on Steam for $12. Not bad for a game you can get 100+ hours out of.
This game is incredible. Best combat of any RPG game I've ever played. Maybe better than any genre of game. The story is rather incomplete feeling and the map is totally underutilized. But Its still so damn good and fun to play! So glad it's on PC now, I'll play it all over again.
for me Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen is on of the best games i love on pc hope for a DD2 with deeper rpg mechanics more cool weapons that look fency and so but with alle the aweasome stuff DD1 have
Back when every one was wanking off Skyrim... I was playing Dragon's Dogma... Springboarding onto furious griffins from my companion's shield, sniping cyclopses eyes with my bow and raining deadly magic arrows down from above, being devoured by a hydra with my companions fighting the other heads and beheading the one swallowing me 5 seconds before entering its belly, heart-stabbing mofo dragons to death mid air, fighting off hordes of clawing undead in near total darkness deep inside a scary forest, being snatched from a cliff by a laughing harpy steering me out over the ocean and certain death before being saved by a swift arrow from my ranger pawn, being ambushed in the woods by a bunch of female bandits only to have a chimaera get the drop on us and and riding the beast until it had killed the bandits then stabbing it to death before it shook me off.. Welcome to 2012 PC people, I think you're gonna like it.
+MagicAccent I abandoned Skyrim and traded in Dark Souls to play this on Xbox360. I couldn't be happier to replay the 400+hrs all over again, because of EXACTLY what you just said!
This review sold me on the game and I'm totally blown away by this hidden gem. I'm starting my 1st play through in hardmode and at this setting it's like an open world Dark Souls...the combat is just soooo satisfying in a way that no other RPG have ever accomplished before. This game is what Witcher 3 and Skyrim should've been, and I have over 500 hours between the two games. Speaking of which, WTF is wrong with Capcom? This game is pure gold. They need to stop cranking out Resident Evil GARBAGE and pool all available resources into a DD sequel.
@singular on1 The comment you responded to was written 3 years ago, which is before 7 and the RE:2 remake came out. I personally love all of the RE games, but I can see why he might have made that comment regarding the series as the latest main series game to release at the time of his comment was likely RE:6, which was very polarizing in the community.
“Dude when I crest the hill with three barely above chimp intelligence people following me like I have the last tater tot, you would assume that they would just run away, but they usually don’t.” So funny
When I first played Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen I played nothing else for a month. I was in heaven. I would gladly do it again, game developers should honestly have DD:DA as something to study in order to pull many of its good elements into their own games. Karak's description of darkness in DD, for example, nails why I love this game.
RicochetForce A couple hours in I was at Gran Soren's inn and I was thinking about where I was going next, what monsters would be on the way, what status effects they had, wich healing items I needed and what pawn set up to hire. When I realised what I was doing I knew for sure this game was very special.
Absolutely one of the most satisfying game I've ever played, with gameplay design that is smooth and just makes sense. I keep coming back to it time and time again. So stoked about the PS4 remastered version coming out in October!
I remember the first time I ever played this was a demo on 360. It was completely random, and I sadly forgot about it shortly after. But I'm definitely getting this now on PC because, I still remember how enjoyable that demo was. Literally had to be up there with most fun demos, but really allowing you to experience it. Awesome review!
I have no idea which rock I've been hiding under to not have heard you. Nice fast tone, brilliant and informative. You are brilliant and your style is a style on reviews DONE RIGHT. Thanks mate!
A very informative review had this on ps3 (one of the only reasons I brought one)I have it in my wish list on steam just needed a good review to make my mind up.
This game is amazing and looks even better on PC. The DLC and end levels is where this game really shines. Bitterblack island will put your characters to the ultimate test, its way harder then anything the game threw at you before.
I see that you favor Mystic Knight as well. Good on you, it makes the Dark Arisen areas less nightmarish from my experience. Magick Archer also seems to tear up the Dark Arisen areas as well.
The best $10 I have ever spent for a game..I just picked this up and play it on a 75 inch 4K true HDR tv and it looks amazing..the sound is also awesome especially if you have a surround sound or sound towers speakers
Wow, I was thinking of buying this game, but was on the edge of not buying it. This review totally changed that and now I can't wait for it to finish downloading... Thanks dude! You just earned a sub!
10/10 on your presentation in this video. You speak so clearly and are very informative! It's an extremely satisfying (and very rare) feeling to actually have all the knowledge you came for after finishing a video. Instantly subbed! Keep up the spectacular work! ps. How the HELL do you only have 212k subs?
Thank you for the comprehensive and fair review, convinced me to make the purchase as well. I also appreciate that you never start shouting really loud anytime the game does something you do not like
"When I come cresting over the hill with three barely above chimp intelligence people following me like I have the last tater tot". I nearly missed that, you said it so smoothly but LOL that's amazing. Bought this game halfway through the review - very excited!!
dude.. this is one of the few, almost 15mins that i didnt realize how fast time passes by..! i wish i had a dungeon master with your skills of story telling, holly sh*t :D great video, thumbs up, subbed :)
This is my first video I've seen from you. You, sir, earned my sub. I love your close analysis to everything, especially the sound segment. Very impressed.
Absolutely love this game and when I heard it was getting a Remaster for the next gen consoles I was massively hyped! After beating the vanilla game then moving onto the Dark Arisen side of things, the DLC is definitely much harder than the vanilla. I'm too much of a little bitch to fight the final boss and have been killed by literally Death - The Grim Reaper - on multiple occasions!
Just found this channel as I intend to buy Dragon's Dogma on PC after playing it on 360 years ago. I'm very impressed by this video, an informative and comprehensive review from someone I can tell is very passionate. Did not hesitate in subscribing after I had finished watching, keep up the great work!
It is a good game. I've put over 300 hours into the 360 version. Its one of those games, I can just pick up and play for hours and not even realize it.
I remember when this was released, and everyone was BLOWN AWAY by the graphics, but now it looks... well, I was expecting more, especially some textures. I'm interested but not sure on it yet, but good video that definitely pushed me closer to buying it!
+Lynch Writing Give it a few months and I am sure someone will make texture mods for this game. I imagine much sooner than that there will be a bunch of Reshade presets that will make this game look better also. The PC community has come up with some amazing things for The Witcher 3 and I can only assume it will do the same for this game. Just another thing to always consider when buying games on the PC.
Wow awesome review man SUBSCRIBED , I just hit buy on steam lol might ask for a few vacation days to play this game non stop :)) it looks insane exactly my kind off game huge ridiculous strong bosses to slay :)
Holy shit, when you got really into how brilliant the sound in DD was, was brilliant in of itself! That kind of dissecting of each part of the game is RARELY seen nowadays. Fucking Subscribed.
+Joshua Taboso thanks man. Maybe watch the walking the walk series I do where I go into detail on titles including this one. Its in my playlists. They are usually 1 hour long and a bit slower
This is free on PS5 and I appreciate in this review that you talked about its look as a collected experience. I think it looks truly great but you could, even all these years ago, criticise textures or some other small details. As a side note I have also just realised the source of confusion I’ve had for a while now; Americans sometimes say “create” but more often “crate” or “kerate” and instead of “mirror” you say either “mere” or “me-er” and instead of “horror” it’s “whore” and one of my favourite confusions were when you or another of your countrymen said “There were terrible whores around every corner…”
i saw the credits and all i could think about was there only being 2 towns in the entire game. This game is truly a masterpiece but was hoping for new locations to visit. Although, this game did not feel like a chore when playing the story over and over again. With the different classes and setting up custom pawns, the gameplay felt fresh all the way to the platinum.
I'm pretty sure I put in >100 hours into the first one. Great game. Probably gonna hold out on pc because I still value having a life outside of pc world.
Great.... Now I wanna play Dragons Dogma again. I also totally did not know that the size of your character can have that much impact on gameplay, that is pretty cool. My personal favorite thing to do in this game is using your followers shields like jumping pads to get to flying enemies or to faster scale tall ones.
I played this game on PS3, it was fun, didn´t like the story, but i loved the gameplay. And it was hard and got harder when i went to the Dark Arisen. I love game where i can respec my character (like dark souls 2) Karak, you just make me wanna play it on PC!
I picked this up at a time when RPGs just felt really stale and boring, got it on my PS3 a while back, and this threw me right back into the RPG World again but nothing yet has given me that feeling of a really amazing game like this did. I think I finished this game so many times and went back to the Ur Dragon? That's the name right? Just for the enjoyment of kicking the hell out of that. If you've never played this game trust the review it is an absolute gem.
I was on the fence about getting this game for a long time. I bought it after ACGs review. He was spot on. The game is excellent. The Karak character that looked like him with beard and all in this video was done real well.
I feel like I'd be more interested in this game if it had a more colorful artstyle. I'm not really a fan of the gritty and dark artstyle, where everything is just a shade of brown and grey.
As someone who is motivated by story and character to play through longer games, I found Dragon's Dogma an absolute chore. Everything Karak says here is perfectly spot on: the gameplay is some of the best I've ever seen. But the narrative was utter shit.
+Panodphantion I don't mind the shit narrative considering the fun I'm having with this best-in-class, top-of-the-line, state-of-the-art gameplay. I know no RPG with better gameplay. But I am a PC gamer, so the library is quite limited.
I played this game on PS3 and 360 and am going to get it on PS4 as well. The combat is so much fun and I love planning stat growth to make the perfect pawn.
Dragons Dogma is the best game I have ever played. The diversity and overwhelming satisfying nature of the vocation system is unparalleled. The Combat isn't just excellent by RPG standards... It's excellent by any standard.. The story gets a bad wrap... This game was perfectly designed for NG+... I mean the ability to skip missions to effectively enhance speed runs for NG+ is flat out genius when combined with dragon forging that in the vanilla game was 100% guaranteed for all worn gear after defeating the Grigori... Add that to an ever evolving final bosses and a twist on each new play through... The more you beat this game the more you appreciate the story. The power of the night and day cycle... The absolutely devastating abilities you can gain... The everfall and bitterblack isle are massive arenas that test the boundaries of what you thought you knew about the game... I bought this game 3 separate times and sunk 1000+ hours into it each purchase... The game does so much at an optimal level that it's minor flaws seem meaningless. I bought this game when it originally came out for ps3... And I can tell you... This notion that people are spinning about the newer versions of the game being a major upgrade over the original.... It's flat out false... The original was fantastic. It was just missed by many because of lazy reviews and short attempts.
Awesome review, Karak! I first found your channel with your Divinity: Original Sin review and I think this is the best once I've seen since (not that the others were bad, mind you).
+DrearierSpider1 it's the very same thing with me.^^ I think Karak excells when it comes to reviewing certain rpgs, great job. Had that game on the radar and will play it for sure
i really hope the game get the proper support so we get a sequel & it'll show devs we still want proper rpgs that aren't made for non rpg fans like fallout 4,soth park & final fantasy 15 great review
Dude I said the same thing at one of MrMattyplays... Ur damn right! It would be the game of the century + along with RPG choices like dragon age origins...I wouln't need to touch any other game haha
I just recently bought the game for ps3 used at Gamestop. I heard so much about it from the past and it was on my ignore list. Since there was so much praise about it, I going to give it a try.
I was searching for a PC review for Dragons Dogma and found this video. Great review and the quality of the review is outstanding. You've earned a new sub. Keep up the good work.
This is one of my alltime favorite rpgs.. I really wish someone would create a part 2, without using it as the typical sequel lazy cash in, but instead, created with the same love, and caring as the original!
So glad that it came to PC. First time that I played it on xbox 360 I was blown away by its awesomeness and now that its come to PC I can enjoy it more than ever :D Btw the review was spot on.
Playing this now and liking it better than Dark Souls and I thought nothing could top that. It's like a nice marriage between Dark Souls and Dungeon Siege. One of the things I liked in Dark Souls was saving Solaire and Sieglinde and how involved those were and concerned with their gameplay choices and not idiotic dialogue trees, and this game has that in spades. Haven't actually finished the game though, been spending most of my time at Bitterblack Isle. Every time I undertake a quest I have to research to find out if it cancels another quest and what choices I have involved in them beforehand.
Absolutely wonderful review. I played, but never beat, Dragons Dogma on PS3. But I am completely sold on giving it another try on this remaster. I can't believe how good the game looks. It feels like a game ahead of its time. It looks like a next gen title, even with its origin in the PS3/360.
+Darth from an interview with pcgamer. "Matsukawa: Thanks for your interest in the series! The Dragon’s Dogma development team members often talk about the possibility of a sequel. We’d love to hear the opinions and feedback from players of the upcoming PC port of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, as that will increase the chances that we can look into the possibility of continuing the series."
totally agree. bought it on ps3, then again (DA) and now steam - and man this is on of best game like this ever. Started hardmode lvl1 1st time and its almost different game. Now u can be really scared when u see Chimera
MOVE OUT OF THE WAY IGN............. REAL REVIEWS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this game taught me anything, it's that "wolves hunt in packs."

they are weak to fire!
Even in number, a weakling is a weakling still
my pawn told me to kill my self
Luckily you have masterwork weapons. You can't go wrong!

ACG Much obliged
Thx
Thanks Karak, bummer that consoles are only 30 frames but I'm still going to pick this up. Any difference really between PS4 and Xbox One? Do you know if online (Xbox Gold or PS+) are required for the pawn system?
Does this version on PS4 have both versions included (original and dlc)?
ACG Thks Man Appreciate It.😀👍
This game is such an under the radar classic. Great time with this game, and I played it on 360.
best time ever, still a great game the damn music in the epic fights its so amazing
Yeah, I wouldn't say it was ignored at the time, but it definitely flew under the radar for many people, which is odd given just how good it is. The combat system - the depth, variety, epicness, etc - is some of the best to be had in video gaming, regardless of genre.

there is dragons dogma online but its Japan only
+speeddevil4040 www.ign.com/articles/2016/01/07/dragons-dogma-2-could-still-happen
Raziel Lance Huh well I'm off to buy 20 copies for the PC version and yell in the ears of all my friends till they buy the game :)
speeddevil4040 That boat went south with my vomit actually
"They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong"
lol so true
"Have your pick, any you like"
Dragons dogma is simply amaizing. Now pc gamers can enjoy this awesome game by a capcom that seems stuck in the terrible void of staleness.
+Slippy Nier and "okay" don't belong side by side
+ZeroHxC07 Agreed. This was an amazing RPG when i first played in on 360 years back. Blew all those bethesda rpgs out of the water IMO. Why dont we have more adventure rpgs with a party system?

+Crushing It We have, A fair amount actually.
Symbol Of A Legacy Not like this. DA cant even compare to the combat system of dragons dogma
Even if you played it on the last gen consoles this is worth a repurchase. Heck it's on sale for a few days on Steam for $12. Not bad for a game you can get 100+ hours out of.
yep
It's $12 in Humble Bundle Monthly now, 4 days left. You get the game and bunch of others.

Who’s here after the announcement for the switch?

ME!!!!
I wanted to play this game but didn't have a good pc. Thanks Capcom/Nintendo. And $30? Awesome. Looking at you Skyrim
Same. I want a physical Switch cartridge! Never played it, but always wanted too. I'm doing so this time.
Mee!!
Just wait for the mod community to get their hands on this.
+Jordan Smith MT Framework though...
Is that an issue? Is it difficult to mod for or something?
Jordan Smith Well looking at the other games that use mt framework the mods are probably going to be disappointing, outside of your usual enb mods.
+Aced Devil May Cry 4 is MT Framework... and it's got alot of Mods... so... yeah... it's will be mods!
+Aced determined modders always find a way.
It's summer 2017 and this review has convinced me to pick it up on Steam Summer sale ! Thanks u for this comprehensive review of this title ! 👍

+ACG yeah .. I baught the game shortly after watching haha :)
+Fraser Finlay Thanks so much Fraser so glad you liked it man. Spread the word
Best game review ive ever seen. Convinced my wife and I to buy it today on Steam, thanks!!!
thanks man
Welp, it's $20.09 on Steam. Guess I'll try it out...
did you like it?
Asbel Flann I LOVE it. In the last couple weeks, I've played over 85+ hours.
It is a good game. I've put over 300 hours into the 360 version. Its one of those games, I can just pick up and play for hours and not even realize it.
Just got it on Steam for 17.99 :)
same here =)
JUST discovered you, where have you been all my life? Great review style, very dynamic tone to your speech with great perspective.Subscribed.
thanks man spread the word
Yes, of course! I may wait for a steam sale. Cheaper and by that point probably better graphics
I never actually bought it. Perhaps I got the wrong end of the stick then ;)
+Lynch Writing the framerate alone just worth it. Maybe not something you feel in a youtube video, but when you play it, you'll have a blast.
+kevlar218 There already is reshades, people were talking about them on the steam forums
Wow awesome review man SUBSCRIBED , I just hit buy on steam lol might ask for a few vacation days to play this game non stop :)) it looks insane exactly my kind off game huge ridiculous strong bosses to slay :)
+George Bogdan Hey thanks George glad you liked it man. Enjoy the game!
This Game stays in my top 5 games of all time! Good review mate!
This is free on PS5 and I appreciate in this review that you talked about its look as a collected experience.
I think it looks truly great but you could, even all these years ago, criticise textures or some other small details.
As a side note I have also just realised the source of confusion I’ve had for a while now; Americans sometimes say “create” but more often “crate” or “kerate” and instead of “mirror” you say either “mere” or “me-er” and instead of “horror” it’s “whore” and one of my favourite confusions were when you or another of your countrymen said “There were terrible whores around every corner…”
this in onsale right now on steam for $11.99
i saw the credits and all i could think about was there only being 2 towns in the entire game.
Fun fact, the constellations in the sky in Dragon's Dogma are real constellations
I played this game on PS3, it was fun, didn´t like the story, but i loved the gameplay. And it was hard and got harder when i went to the Dark Arisen. I love game where i can respec my character (like dark souls 2)
Karak, you just make me wanna play it on PC!
+Rodrigo Almeida play it then!
I think "Magic user gang signs" is my alltime favourite phrase now.
If you've never played this game trust the review it is an absolute gem.
one of the best game's I've ever played.
I just ordered the dark arisen version on the 360. I can't wait!! the demo was so fun. I'm gonna play as a magick archer.
Good review love the fact that you didnt use 1-10 scale or whtever
I was on the fence about getting this game for a long time. I bought it after ACGs review. He was spot on. The game is excellent. The Karak character that looked like him with beard and all in this video was done real well.
This game is amazing. They should bring Asura's Wrath too!
I feel like I'd be more interested in this game if it had a more colorful artstyle. I'm not really a fan of the gritty and dark artstyle, where everything is just a shade of brown and grey.
One of the best game review videos I've ever watched. Thanks!
thanks
You are always right on top of getting reviews out fast and accurate. I'll be getting this for sure! Thanks!
+Eddy Nataraj Thankd Eddy
Great review. The game is a masterpiece. People might be on a fance on it for graphics but the atmoshpere and gameplay shines in this game. ˇˇ
Just came out on PS4. One of my top 10 games. Great review!
i always thought this game was under appreciated, and now there is at least some form of fast travel with out spoiling the game, very good review
+DrearierSpider1 thanks
+AngryCentaurGaming super good review im sending this to all my friends to show them about this, all becuz of you =D
Imagine a game with TES's lore, with DD's gameplay and TW3's graphic....That'd be game of the decade for me.
If a game has the elder scrolls lore, wouldn't it be an elder scrolls game?
Ross Wightman well, I meant with a huge amount of lore like a TES game, but not technically TES lol
Dude I said the same thing at one of MrMattyplays... Ur damn right!
It would be the game of the century + along with RPG choices like dragon age origins...I wouln't need to touch any other game haha
Tyson W dark souls lore
I just recently bought the game for ps3 used at Gamestop. I heard so much about it from the past and it was on my ignore list. Since there was so much praise about it, I going to give it a try.
"Low resolution elephant skin picture" xD (New sub for sure) Others only say it's a Souls clone but this is so different.
+Sylvex Dragonskin thanks
I was searching for a PC review for Dragons Dogma and found this video. Great review and the quality of the review is outstanding. You've earned a new sub. Keep up the good work.
+Sven97Toni appreciate it man
Haha I love how you compared to game to Alan Turing. Keep up the good work (Y)
+Alex Chan thanks
Woah. Just over fourteen minutes of pure, unfiltered information. 1000% subscribed. I will be coming back here.
+Thesicclan thanks bro glad you liked it man
This is one of my alltime favorite rpgs.. I really wish someone would create a part 2, without using it as the typical sequel lazy cash in, but instead, created with the same love, and caring as the original!
Been watching your reviews for about a year I won't buy a game unless I see your review first lol. You are def the best at this. Keep it up plz!!!
thanks
It's so cool that you seem to have the same love for RPGs that most older gamers have. Keep up the good work my man!
So glad that it came to PC. First time that I played it on xbox 360 I was blown away by its awesomeness and now that its come to PC I can enjoy it more than ever :D Btw the review was spot on.
+Filip Rebic agreed and thanks
Your review is on DD Steam store page :)
+Shagrath06 I know its awesome!
Oh shit it's on PC now? Guess i'm gonna have to buy it again..
Thank you. I've learned everything I needed to know to make an informed decision and it was entertaining to boot. Brilliant review.
+Bro James you bet
This is such a great review I come back to see it over and over... Is that weird?
Absolutely wonderful review. I played, but never beat, Dragons Dogma on PS3. But I am completely sold on giving it another try on this remaster. I can't believe how good the game looks. It feels like a game ahead of its time. It looks like a next gen title, even with its origin in the PS3/360.
+Ularg yep
Apparently the success of this pc release can determine if a sequel gets made so I hope it does well.
+laniston What, really? I would LOVE if they made a sequel, but where did you get the news from?
+Darth from an interview with pcgamer. "Matsukawa: Thanks for your interest in the series! The Dragon’s Dogma development team members often talk about the possibility of a sequel. We’d love to hear the opinions and feedback from players of the upcoming PC port of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, as that will increase the chances that we can look into the possibility of continuing the series."
laniston Nice
totally agree. bought it on ps3, then again (DA) and now steam - and man this is on of best game like this ever. Started hardmode lvl1 1st time and its almost different game. Now u can be really scared when u see Chimera
came here because it's on the steam thanksgiving sale for $11.99 right now
nordy259 I did too lol
it's 12$ on humble monthly with a bunch of other games too, so I guess that's a better offer
You deserve a million subs. Got me to check the game and buy it. I appreciate your review style and a nice voice to boot.
+wheretheyhaveribs55 Awesome brother. enjoy the title man
