I've heard you say, well, a lot. But this is quite the gem you got here.
I hope Dragon's Dogma 2 is a masterwork, they can't go wrong.
yeah Hideaki Itsuno has finished DMC5 and he was offered to do the sequel or DMC5 and chose DMC5 first. Plus Capcom looks they will actually let him finish his games this time unlike original Dragon Dogma and DMC4.
Battle Royale
You jinxed it.
I see what you did there
@@arup02 no
I'm just here for the support. I've already bought and played this game like, 4 times already. Will *always* recommend this gem.
Same :) I love this game.
I'm trying to find a physical version today! I've never played it before
I found it the epitome of mediocrity. >__>
It's not *bad* though... hell, maybe even great if you're easily entertained.
planescaped don’t be a douche, just let people enjoy stuff
@@KamixSam dont be a dick, let people have their opinion on a game its not a good game for everybody.
Jesus, hasn't this game been released like 5 times now. I really wish they would make a sequel.
The creator was given a choice as to what game to do first. DMC 5, or Dragons Dogma 2.
He chose to do DMC 5, but said that the next game he wants to work on more than anything is Dragon's Dogma 2. That is why there is a sudden resurgence of the title
Pretty sure its Capcoms next big one. They had a choice between DG2 and DMC5, so its their next game.
Sir Galahad dark arisen was released on ps3 and Xbox 360 so that would make it 4 .
And I'm about to buy it for the third time
@Sir Galahad Your forgetting dark arisen, which I think was released twice, wasn't included in the original release. I was also counting the PC release separate because it was released after the ps4/xbone release with better textures and performance.
So I've heard goblins are weak to fire.
they hate ice and fire both
An ice
Hmph, we did it
Even in numbers, a weakling is a weakling still!

This game desperately needs a sequel, it's amazing, even today it sill stands out.
Sequel is underway!! Itsuno confirmed it himself to be his next project after DMC5 was done :) Good news, fellow Arisen!
@@B3rrymon wish he wasnt the one djrecting DD2... he doesnt know how to make great looking monsters nor challengjng combat :/
Idk...Horse glue and the human component...
Considering that Monster Hunter World was the more fully realised title gameplay-wise (and way, WAY more commercially successful) I wouldn’t be surprised if the sequel was scrapped long ago.
Lmao
right now at Capcom HQ
-sir, we did ports for almost every recent system and platform, lets do the sequel shall we ?
-no, next-gen is coming
The creator was actually given the decision between DMC5 or DD2, he chose DMC5
@@Zetheek
yeah i read it on IGN few months ago
kind of funny they made a Netflix series about the game instead of actually do the sequel (Itsuno could be the consultant anyway)
@@Zetheek well DMC5 came out and rocked. DD2 NOW!
Man I wish they had done dd2
Sequel was cancelled by sony remember deep down
Dragons Dogma on Switch.
Edit wrong description for Mystic Knight. I do that all the time lol. The world is complete! Enjoy and as always thanks so much for the support! All links for various stuff is in the description!

ACG I know this is very off topic. But will Mortal Kombat 11 review be out tonight?
I hope they make a Dragons Dogma 2
Been watching for about a year now and somehow just now found out what ACG stand for. I feel like an idiot lol
Dude you are The only other person with the same name spelled differently mine is kerick.
Dragon's Dogma is one of the most underrated games of all time, and possibly the single most underrated game from the last generation of consoles. The world design, atmosphere, and sound are nearly flawless. The 3rd person controls and camera are silky smooth perfection. The monster designs are fantastic and greatly varied, with the AI being aggressive and tough. The pawn system is very innovative and works well, so long as people are still currently playing the game on whatever platform you choose. The only major negative is the terrible shallow generic story, but it's more of a hack-and-slash adventure game than a deep RPG. Highly recommended to anyone on any system.
This game came out around the same time as Kingdoms of Amalur. I always thought both of them were underappreciated in their day.
"dips down in the mid 20s like a divorcee testing a local dating pool". Great line lol
Awsome
... This is me.
One thing I love about this game (playing on PS4), is the realistic daylight. I know many games have amazing lighting, god-rays etc. but for me, few seem to really nail what actual daylight looks like. In DD, I can almost feel the warm sun, or oppressive cold of night. ICO did the same for me with regards to that feeling of actually being outside. More developers should learn from this (IMHO).
It's now June 2023 and it just went on sale for $4.99 on Switch digitial till 6/26/23 if anyone's seeing this.
Never played it, just got it for the Switch last night and i'm super impressed how much fun it is.
Glad to see new people enjoying this game.😊
👌 Now just pray that Crapcom finally listen and make DD2😭 Can you imagine if its made photorealistic just like some mods and enb in Skyrim🤯😍 and mod it like Skyrim that would be perfect!
Did it have any longevity for you? I'm considering buying now
I have this on ps3, ps4, xbox, pc and now, soon on switch. If they run out of systems and release it on microwave, i will buy it again
Osh - 😂
Cant wait for the alexa and smart fridge releases.
Would you even get it on Google Stadia? If so... Oof that's dedication.
Cant wait till Dragons Dogma 2. Have the PS4 version. Dragons Dogmas such a great game. One of the most masterfull RPGs. Cool to see its great on the Switch.
We need switch port re-reviews every time 👍
"The FPS occasionally dips into the 20s, like a divorcee testing out the dating pool" lmao nice
Played on PS3, PS4, Xbox one, and now switch lmao. This Game will always be supported by me
That's good it is a great game but I got bored of it tho played it on the ps3 n got burned on the ps4 lol props to ya! :D
What about pc???
Maui nice!! I played on 360, Xbox one X and now the switch. Bought it three times with no shame. Capcom is one of the only developers in this age of AAA games fucking players over that actually just releases a good game, and when they rerelease a game like dragons dogma, don’t overcharge and charge you $60 as if it’s brand new
@@SunBro_Talos Yep got this over Mikrotransaction Kombat.
I did the original on Xbox 360, Dark Arisen on 360, Xbox One, and now the Switch. Love it every single time.
'They're masterworks all. You can't go wrong.'
Kolben my favorite line from the entire game is from one of the guards. “You must have balls of solid iron”
"Not masterworks all"
I see what you did there.
I didn't understand that reference. Care to explain?
@@AchiragChiragg There's a shop owner in the game that refers to his products as "masterworks all, you can't go wrong"
I almost shat myself lauging when you said you gotta make sure your character looks like his first words weren't "derp dedeerrp".
I was drinking water and literally almost spit it all over my keyboard
Never drink water or coffee when listening to a Karak review, safety protocol.
That caught me so off guard 😅
:(
I adore this game. It became my favorite action rpg, possibly my favorite game, without exaggeration, when it came out on PC. And I'm just as excited to start all over again on the Switch that i can take with me. Get the word out there, Karak. We need more good pawns in the Rift.
_Dragon's Dogma_ is infuriating, because it was soooo close to being a peerless masterwork. Its so much going for it; dynamic and atmospheric open world, _Shadow of the Colossus_ style combat scenarios, and a HUGE amount of customization in terms of both your characters' appearance and play style. With a slightly stronger story, better voice acting, a bit of health/damage balancing, and a myriad of other little tweaks, this could've been easily been one the all time greatest RPGs.
This game is a masterpiece. To me it's the difficulty and subtle touches that make it stand out.
Seriously man, you're the best reviewer out there! Ends with a Mic Drop Everytime!!
I don't own a Switch, but if I did I'd have to buy this game for a forth time!
Great review, thanks.
It’s on pc and ps4 and ps3 and Xbox lol literally can get it for any platform
Dragons Dogma remains my favorite game to this day, and I'm just happy a new generation has a chance to try it. Though many of it's systems have not aged well, and switch players don't have the option to mod away the annoyances. I hope that doesn't stop new players from appreciating the game. But I do suspect that this port is intended entirely for old players and possibly as promotional material for the rumored Dragons Dogma 2.
Just picked this up and am going to be playing it tmr. What are the annoyances that i should look out for? So excited for this! Going to fill my elder scrolls void I'm sure!
@@Zeokoz The annoyances for new players are there is no fast travel for the first part of the game, the night time might be too dark for new players but it design this way and no amount of gamma correction is going to help. I can not think of anything else right now, it has been a long time since I played.
But there is a New Game Plus mode where you start a new game and keep all your gear after beating the game and the monster will be stronger, different loot and nights will be hell. NG+ is really hard, like really. The ranger is my favorite class since you can climb on monsters like LOTR and I have rarely seen any other game with that combat system.
@@Zeokoz frame rate can be a bit on the choppy side at times, the enemy spawns are fixed so it gets a little stale running past the same enemies at times, and the story is pretty incoherent until the final act. Other than that the game really is a gem, and with the absolutely amazing dlc I would call the game a flawed masterpiece
@@ZeokozThe biggest one is the fact that you can’t really fast travel. You can, but it is a huge pain in the butt, so most of your time is spent traipsing across vast distances of the map. This is also one of those games that you want to play with a guide. I would recommend that you look into the class system as well beforehand, so you have an idea of which one you want to play as and how they work.
@@Zeokoz Save often. There's no proper fast travel and some of the locations are miles apart. If you die it takes ages to get back to where you need to be. Still a wonderful game though.
You and Tim Rogers are the only two video game journalists that consistently deliver me the goods. Albeit in a completely different way. You're definitely the best traditional style reviewer with just the right touch of esoteric banter. Thanks again.
So awesome to see you review Switch ports. Thanks, Karak!
Never did I imagine I could play mobil Dragons Dogma. Truly a golden age.
I would love to see you review Outward. It has a lot of elements that I like from Dragons Dogma.
Yes please my friends are getting that game and I want to make sure it's fun.
I still miss the Guts & Griffith Armor sets from the original. Shame that deal wasn’t renewed for DA.
Agreed really dissapointing when I went for the guts armour set on ps4
Dissonant Values Wait, what? I made a pawn that I wanted to be Guts, but I didn’t know there was an armor set just for it. How do I get it? I still have the PS3 version
Matthew Black Go talk to Alon at the Abandoned Mine. He’ll give you the quest “Of Monsters & Merchants.” After finishing it he’ll set up a permanent shop inside the mines and you can buy both sets. “Swordsman” and “Griffon” sets.
I wanna say you can buy it at the Soulflayer Cavern East entrance. Enter from there and the merchant will be to the right. Its the one you have to clear out for safe passage for a quest or sidequest.Griffith's armor is there to buy also and his and Guts weapons too.
@@newdivide9882 The mines just outside of Gran Soren that you have to clear of monsters, gets a merchant that sells both guts' and Griffith's armor and swords.
literally got on to look up your old review of this to see if i should get it for switch. Great stuff
yeah, same here and Karak promised in the beginning of this video that links are put up "somewhere"
Karak, thanks for another great review, man. I never had a chance to pick this up back in the day for PS3 and for $29 on the Switch I feel now it’s definitely worth it.
Keep those awesome reviews coming!!
ACG, the only reviewer I’d watch review a game two times. Always making quality content.
Simply put, if you haven't played this game and you want a Switch game? Get this game.
Just bought $150 worth of EShop Cards, and I just came across this game and can't decide on it...is it really that good?
Zach Pohlman gameplay for hours and a lot of customizations. The best magic user combat and explorations. Story is kinda there and you have to remember to save manually though other than that a bang for your buck.
@@zachpohlman321 If you still haven't gotten it it's 50% off on the US shop right now.
Can't decide myself. I have a huge backlog as is...
When you cast that huge Tornado for the first time your mind just goes "woooooaaaaaa"
Thank you, ACG. I was really on the fence about getting this on my switch, but as usual, you've won me over. Great content.
Ahh Dragon's Dogma, haven't played this in a good while, I remember really enjoying it.
Most memorable moment was the surprise I got when testing some new pawns, one of which was a high level sorcerer, I entered a battle and out of nowhere huge meteors started raining from the sky followed by a sudden need to change my underwear, probably the most epic magic effect I've seen in a game.
And don't worry, I ended up using that spell quite a lot and on average the spells deal way more damage to enemies than it does to your underwear.
Thx for the review. I don't usually touch UA-cam but I was on the fence about buying this on my Xbox and stumbled on this review. I've decided to trust you, random person who rates games, and so I'm downloading now. Thanks for taking the time to do this stuff, I'm going to watch some of your other stuff because it's actually interesting. Great job
Loved this game on the ps3 and now on the switch! Good combat, rpg, freedom, classes, tactics, and quite difficult.
I hope they one day make a sequel. This is up there with my most favorite games of all time, w/ games like Final Fantasy and Skyrim.
PSA: Capcom said they would port DMC 5 to Switch if it sold well, so keep that in mind if you find that interesting
Devel May Cry is already out on switch it could be possible
Dragon's Dogma definitely has my heart. I bought it for the ps3, and again for the PC. Hell I might pick it up again on the switch. I genuinely can't wait for them to make a sequel.
What level are you at on pc?
HOW MANY TIMES AM I GONNA BUY THIS GAME? As of 5 minutes ago, this makes 4...
I got it for ps3, ps4 and now switch
I wonder how many times I will end up replaying this game, considering how many times they've grown to re-release it. Seriously, X360 version, PS3 version, PC Version, all at least had one full playthrough of it, the only thing that bothers me a bit besides how the damage formula works (basically doing little to no damage if your threshold isn't above a defense attribute from what I remember) and the sidequests, you can miss out on a lot of them by completely accident by progressing the main story, as it moves in sort predetermined steps, which is a little sad because they flesh out the story of some of the supporting casts more than just a little, there are places on the map where you'll be hard pressed to really go into if you're not doing their quests, most locations have at least ONE quest tied to them too and have events intertwined, and those may be lost because of that.
But then again, the game's main story isn't thaaaat long, what usually takes some time is the combat, and the game kind of welcomes replayability, even giving it's own story a complete nod on a second run, it's just one thing that annoys me well enough that I usually have to keep a guide around just not to miss them, because it's hard not to sometimes, but BESIDES ALL THOSE THINGS.
I absolutely adore this game and very few other action rpgs make you really feel the growth between a puny adventurer getting their shit kicked in by a hobgoblin with a stone to completely wiping out their camps with meteors 20 hours or so later, or one shotting that one troublesome chimera on the forest with one well placed thunderous blow to the face, or firing so many arrows in sequence with explosives attached to them to something that their health bar just instantly melts...
In short, this game is the hardest and bestest when it comes to giving you a power fantasy, once you get going, you never STOP going and even the hard battles will be a stylish romp to death with the game's deadliest foes, and then of course, after the main game is over and you can rest is the now meaty postgame content, there's Bitterblack Isle, just waiting to make the inner D&D player inside you sweat with how much hard hitting the enemies and bosses in it tend to be, and how it's unique mechanics invites and (literally) welcomes DEATH itself into the battlefield as if it was just a normal ocurrence for a place so cursed with plagues and death that it might as well be renamed "Death's Humble Abode, also fuck anything alive that dares thread in here".
I loooove this game and I'm glad this version is yet another good place for people to play, the more Itsuno's games get their just dues, the more reasons Capcom has to give the man more support to make them even better.
Thank you for doing this Karak. I’m so excited to finally try this on my Switch. Loved your old reviews on it
Thank for all the work you put into your reviews! They're always informative and highly entertaining.
Glad to see the switch version and PC version priced similarly. Usually, Nintendo Shop pricings are brutal. Will get this for the Switch on Payday! Thank you for this review!
Thanks for the review! Just got final fantasy X on switch. I’ll have to get this now. Looks great
Will consider picking this title up new on physical release for my Switch at sale price of $20 USD or less. 🤔
I love the heck out of 3rd person action RPGs but for some reason each time I have tried DD, I always fall off around the 10 hour mark. Not sure why it doesn't have the sticking power for me. Perhaps I try it for the 4th time because I do have a boring flight coming up in a few days.
The same thing happened with me but play the game and play thru bitter black isle then you will understand why it's so good.
its fucking awesome
I think the issue with dragon's dogma 1 is that quests and characters just aren't too engaging, and variety in objectives itself isn't that high. While story missions themselves are fun and engaging the open world always felt like they were given enough time to give it proper love. Like most first games in a series it's amazing gameplay is held back by not having enough to actually do with that gameplay. If I can also add a while I think the enemies themselves are great and all are fun to engage with they could use a five or six more enemy types in the standard world. Dragon's dogma 2 when that finally comes out cuz I doubt they're going to let the series die truly, will likely step up in almost every single way and I am here for it!
Been looking forward to this review and was hoping you would review it and honestly i am never disappointed. Truly one of the best channels on this platform when it comes to reviewing games with insightful information, keep up the amazing work Karak !
I love this game so much I bought it 3 times. I would love to see a proper sequel because that pawn system was just so neat and I'd love to see what could be done today. Gameplay is so damn great, and some of the high level spells are sweet!
@CJ P. Very much so, though we're 2-3 years (at least) out from a playable game most likely. Just know that it's in the works has me tentatively excited.
I'm sick as fuck right now and 1:25 still made me cry tears from laughter. Best reviewer period.
Now that Itsuno's done with DMC5, I hope we'll get DD2 :D
Hey! Switch review! Thank you good sir. Lots of great games making their way to Switch lately- Darksiders, Final Fantasy X/X-2, Mortal Kombat XI, Dragons Dogma, Final Fantasy XII, Assassins Creed 3, Saint’s Row The Third, Resident Evil HD, 0 and 4, Team Sonic Racing... I can’t even remotely keep up

Your reviews are masterworks all, you can't go wrong.

I've finally subscribed. You're such a great reviewer, I've been watching over a year and just never thought to sub.
Picking this up tomorrow after work. I cant wait to do something to a giants prostate.
I've played and beaten Dragon's dogma dark arisen on PS3, I think it is a great game. Despite that, I can't really say that I will buy this game again. The beginning is too much of a pain in the ass to play, unvalanced leveling system, and the higher difficulty settings for some reason lowering your stamina.
Agreed!!! The tutorial is too long and the game doesnt even really get started to me till I get to Grand Soren after that long tedious mountain escort quest. It makes me discouraged to start a new game.
Thanks for the review never played this before so I was on the fence about buying this......but after watching your review I'm going to pick this up today
That pun was some masterwork alright
You are the first reviewer for this game who finally compares it to Dragon Age. I wish Dragon Age Inquisition was available on the eshop at the very least. Definitely a worthwhile story and gaming experience in my opinion. Super deep character content to mine, outside of running amok in the wild (although even then, after turning points in the story, the conversation seemed to naturally evolve), which I always found interesting.
The battle mechanics of Dragon’s Dogma has held my interest for quite some time, as well as gameplay dynamics. For the price point it seems excellent. Every comment has something positive to say! It is nice. Still on the fence, yet thanks much for taking so much time to provide feedback on your experiences.
Great game! Only wish this version is a bit brighter.. (I have to put the gamma and screen brightness to a high value to see stuff in the shadows at daytime, but increasing gamma will show very ugly and visible banding :-/ )
Also, Useful tip: when in handheld mode, try tapping the minimap, it will open the map screen instantly! :D (Or double-press the + button instead)
Just out of work getting food ready and acg pops up shit what a good way to end the day!
Considering how much I am enjoying replaying every other game in handheld mode on the Switch. This will be one of the highlights !
Any idea if the uploaded pawns are cross-platform (from the old PS3 to PS4 to Switch)?
Is the online Ur Dragon still in these current ports? If so, are they cross-platform?
Always the first review I watch of any game.
The Best
I've bought this game on 360 and Steam and will now get it on Switch just for the hope that DD 2 will be made or even just the MMO will come to the west.
There is a DD MMO. Its japan only, but if you have the patience and technical prowess to figure it out then you can actually play it. Here is a guide for you.

Dragon's Dogma 2 confirmed by the devs.
Have played so many games - but this will always be my favorite. More than a game, a great journey.
Dragon's dogma's biggest flaw for me is the way the damage is calculated, it's just simple subtraction, but other than that it's really solid, one of my favorites.
Yep, one can go from doing zero damage to one shotting everything.. Pretty unbalanced
That player character you made is savage
My best Dragon's Dogma movie was, when I walked into that Buddhist Temple. The Quarry.

I appreciate Capcom didn't charge full price for this game, yet still had a physical release. Most older games ported to Switch tend to be priced as much as a brand new game and those that aren't only get a digital release.
On sale right now and this video was exactly what I needed to see to make a final judgement on purchasing. Downloading asap.
Awesome review! I've never even seen this game till now so I think I might get it on steam. Love your vids btw keep up the good work!

@8:19 Mystic Knights can use shields, they use Magick Shields
Nothing says finesse like a 300 pound, mush faced rogue.
This game needs multiple save slots with an option to disable auto save, a lot better UI. If they ever make a sequel this is a must. Bigger map would also be nice, at least the twice the size and more towns and bigger dungeons the size of bitter isle would be great. Finally hard difficulty should be normal.
Holy crap. This review was hilarious. Nicely done demonstrating you've got personality beyond the typical gamer tropes. Subbed.
Also, how reliable is trdrop?
I'm really looking for something multiplayer so I can play with my son . I remember playing this on the Xbox and fell in love with it .
