Impressive again and mega congrats ! 2 quick hints if it would be necessary however: +/- 0.05mm at the crank shaft end to be set, and maybe, a small tig pointing at the connecting rod head axle, especially on 2 cylinders engine, but 1-cyl as well. Meanwhile just wondering about the resulting benefit, Vs. increasing the combustion chamber pressure (surface milling), aside the longer stroke effect (more volume displacement) and risks (comb. chamber vs piston interference, piston skirt vs. Crankshaft mass). Last hint, in term of dynamic design, square stroke x dia sizes provides usually a better balance.
Offsetting the crank pin to make a stroker with buying no parts. All labor. If you chuck the crank back in the lathe once you get it assembled, you can use a dial indicator on the second side so you get a better "clocked on the crankpin" balance job. Its more accurate than just a straight edge to check the squareness side to side.
think the bigger issue is the hand pinning on the re-assemble when it original was so tight it had to be pressed out. think this vid was more of a concept/ability to do it more then actual practice. there was a lot of things skipped like before even dis-asm what was the width on the main rod, crank bearing space etc etc all the other steps when dealing with cranks and rods. It was a cool vid but as you point out there def some flaws/improvements to be looked at.
Impossible to know what the gains are or were, without proper testing this could lose power, I used to know a guy who raced, his dad was a bit of a tuner and always worked the ports, he had the "touch" he stayed in the rules as to port size but he had more power and torque, always pulling away from the pack, I would like to see some results from a stroker rather than one thats been ported.

No dial gauge for the Web alignment just a steel straight edge. Wow. I admire your trust in your eyes. 😮 You will have to use a packer plate under the barrel to keep port timing correct so no gain in cc just a longer stroke so a less revving engine which in turn will lower BHP at the wheel unless different gearing is used. A gain in one place = a loss in another place
Changing the stroke completely changes the port timing on the intake and the exhaust. How do you compensate for the piston striking the head? How much lower are the RPMs now. Is the ignition timing going to complement the lower redline?? was The crankcase capacity taken into the calculation the cylinder capacity? The intake timing, the transfer port timing, and the exhaust port timing are all considered to work with the ignition timing. Not to mention, the exhaust pipe/exhaust expansion chamber is designed to work with a certain capacity. this crankshaft does not have keyed crank pins..I didn’t notice you truing the crankshaft halves to each other.. did this modification concentrate the power band or expand it? Because all of the port timings and ignition timing were designed to work with a certain length of stroke. The stroke is now changed. Even the transmission ratios are figured to complement the power band.. By making the stroke longer, did you shim the cylinder up at the base? Or did you shim the head up by putting additional head gaskets? If you just shimmed the head, how did you set the timing? A standard timing would be 2 millimeters before top dead center..With a longer stroke, the standard ignition timing spark will arrive earlier, increasing the likelihood of detonation.. i’m not saying it won’t work, I’m not saying it won’t make more power, I’m just saying that there is a whole lot to consider when you change one thing, everything else changes.. i have seen tuners always tweaking things, and always making their machines less reliable and slower.. I did the same for my first two years of road racing two strokes. My third year I decided to leave the machine box stock and just concentrate on learning how to ride rather than constantly repairing the machine which I ended up modifying into a pile of junk. After I started leaving the machine bone stock, I won six road racing championships and two national championships, on a bone stock utterly reliable 250 2 stroke.. after i finally realized that it was not the machine that was slow, it was me..
U should watch video from south east asia. we have faster 2 stroke here. 125cc can go up to 185kmh on GPS. 150cc can go around 200-220kmh. We only increase the stroke around 0.8mm and maximum is 2mm.
Maybe before making haphazard modifications you should have done some research and learned BEFORE modifying your machine. Longer stroke mods have been done for years very successfully even invisibly from outside the engine it is called cheating by some
Did that move the pin out? Wouldn't you have to fill in the hole all the way and rebore to do that. Or was this just to clean up tolerances for a new pin and bearing?... Stroking it would increase power but I don't see that going on here (as stated in the title). Sweet rebuild though

i love the stroke measure but changing the stroke on a two stroke changes the port timing if you use the same deck clearance never found it makes much difference ,changing the bore is the easiest way to increase capacity, but that doesnt work on two strokes either as shallow wide ports have a poor port window area , but i would also worried about the interference fit of the crank pin if you could used a big hammer to assemble
So you increased stroke length, when can we expect to see your video addressing the need for a spacer or stroker plate under the cylinder to keep the piston from hitting the cylinder head unless a custom short piston or short connecting rod is to be used? Equally important, now that the crankshaft has a longer stroke, placing your reciprocating weight further from crankshaft centerline it will need to be rebalanced to avoid excessive vibration and premature failure.
none of that is a serious problem you could possibly machine the top of the piston as 2S-MC pistons are notoriously thick, also you could have a custom piston made which would negate those issues if you wanted to use a spacer that is also nothing dramatic either as most 2S mostly use oring for head to cly seal if you are doing the stroke on a 2S-MC you are not a novice so you would have it rebalanced any way
I agree! and there is also a chance that the rod could contact the case at TDC. also no side clearance was set on the rod bearing, and the crank pin was not nearly tight enough, I have never seen one just simply pound in! a press has always been needed on the cranks I have redone!
@@motox103 I've had to put the cranking in the freezer and the flywheels on a hot plate before to get them to go together, doing it with all parts at room temperature was making my press make weird noises and making me nervous.
