I always use co-host, but the moment you said "these are different roles!" I understood perfectly what you meant, haha. We have a similar structure here, which I sort of noticed, but you helped me visualise it so much easier, so thanks a lot for this video!
In our case it's like we work in teams of two, so two hosts and two protectors-organisers. Depending on energy levels, general situation, if there's trauma stuff involved going on, or the kind of work we're doing; one or the other group will be at front. The protectors generally help the host in charge deal, and they're good at knowing when to switch between the groups.

for your vocab video I'd love to see gatekeeper included in there! I don't see many people talk about gatekeeper alters but they're so important cause for a long time we just called our gatekeeper a protector but her role really isn't that of a protector lol also would love to see caretaker/internal self helper in there!
Hello there! Thank you for this video, it helped us to get some stuff clear. Me (Anthony), Sunny, Basil, Rain and Lady/Beatrice have been debating about our roles as host, co host and that stuff. This makes it so much clear for us. It turns out then that Sunny is the host, Rain and me are the co-hosts and Lady and Basil are the secondary hosts! (Plus, Lady is Sunny’s caretaker, since Sunny sometimes kinda… fails at normally interacting with others, or procrastinates too much.)

doesn't relate to the video at all but, how does fronting in the inner world work? do the alters just sorta dissapear when they get close? and when the specific person fronts, does their body just stay dormant in the inner world or does it pop out of existence? also another question, i first discovered DID from dissocaDID, and I know their system has a room that symbolises how close to concious someone is, but since you have an entire planet AND two moons, how does "being close" work with you guys?

Do you all find that you are better at reading facial emotions on other people? I have heard that long time drug users have troubles reading emotions, besides "disgust" because they mostly experience it. I was just wondering that since alters are a sort of protection and coping mechanism to put it in overly simply terms.
That maybe some alters would be better or worse at reading facial emotions and physical communication queues as a means of self protection.
Would be interesting if there was some sort of study on people with DiD. Not anything invasive. Just a psychological study
1)comparing the ability to read facial cues of social emotions or similar body language.
2) between different alters in a system.
3)Between different systems.

These thoughts aren't well expressed or formatted. And I am sure finding an educational institution willing to do such work wouldn't be easy. Studies need grants and other means of $$$.
But I can see the benefit, not only for those with DID, but also those with other mental differences that make social interaction difficult. It would also expose many insights that could be applied to the majority of the general population as well.
So this topic is way to messy to make a video on. But I hope, someday, a similar study can be done. But ofcourse as a double blind study. With non DID control groups. And complete professionalism. Because I am sure not all systems are the same when in comes to abilities with physical social que and face reading. But if such a study can be done while eliminating as much bias as possible. While protesting the real life legal identity of those diagnosed (for their safety, and also to prevent the scientists from letting outside information not gained from the tests influence their study results ) It would show whether their are trends between alters or different systems. Or not. And other conclusions.
It is just an idea I hope to see happen someday. People with DiD should definitely be informed of any sort of study. And I do hope the scientists are sensitive enough to treat any volunteers as they would any other people who participate in such studies.
Luckily such a study if done properly will focus solely on the abilities of recognizing facial emotions and body language of others. Not get into exposing the specifics of trauma. If anything only tracking the timeline of trauma, and the effects on basic emotional bod/face language reading.
I can see it not only helping the scientific community better understand how the ability to recognize and read the emotions and other physical ques and body language of others works. But could help the host/co host and other alters. Whether that sort of subconscious ability varies between them or not; and to extent it does, if it does.
Just something to think about. Likely wont ever happen. But seeing more diverse studies. Instead of those that always revolve around the existence of DiD, or the specific traumas and triggers of DID.
But a new study that takes a new and almost completely unrelated approach. Instead of advancing stigma. It would likely expose helpful unknown traits that DiD causes. While also helping psychologists understand more about the topics of natural face/body language emotion reading skills in general.
Ofc the scope and focus of such a study would have to be be scaled down. But the multiple benefits are amazing.

Ok so far I'm loving your posts! I don't understand how, to me, is feels so right... You make it look so simple and easy and I know that it takes time and is time consuming. But my question is about the actual identity born in the body. What is the role of the identity born with the body? I'm beginning to recognize who is fronting sometimes but for me it would be easy if there was a name... I recognize Hollow because of his behavior. I recognize you Devon because you are more upbeat than Percival. I think I'd recognize Nova because of his hoody jacket? I guess what I'm trying to say is where is the actual identity who was born in the body. For example: who makes the decision to change the hair color or transition to a male body. Is it the alter or the born in the body Identity?
The alter born into the body was actually split into Devon, Xavier, and Parsifal in the initial trauma, so the closest thing we’ve got is Devon 😊 the host/core/original is split up into those three roles in our system, so I guess we’re a little different than some other systems 😆
And those decisions are kind of made based on the feeling from all of us as a whole, rather than what is right for only one of us

How can I explain to my family that my Alters are not me? And why do I have so much anger all of a sudden because they say But they are all you. No they are not! Looks like the commingout didnt work at all-.- v-v they just dont unterstand me.

I had same problem when I came out in open about it. My mom just roles her eyes and says it is all in my head. It's even harder when I have trauma related to her and Lucien comes out because he hates her. Ugh wish everyone would make effort to understand this more.

@@kaleidoscopingme I know alot due to my fiance and him talking to my alters and telling me if they let him. It is so hard to handle the unknown and sometimes the many blackouts but no one understands. I am always here if you need someone to talk to. I know of 30 alters and I have had a alter draw the inner world . My brother always jabs at me or screams to try and trigger switches and it is so traumatic. Stay strong leave notes around if alters want to respond they will if not do not lose hope sometimes it takes time for them to try to make contact.
@@kaleidoscopingme also I found out about my system when I was 5 because alter made me run into barbwire and slice my leg. Was alot of trauma on me since age 3 so I am not sure before that . I have hazy memories before age 12

We had like a silly inner speech debate today I didn't want to be stuck in the church anymore but then we realized none of us really wanted to sit through it.
I just realised systems have an entirely unique perspective on how to best structure a society because they have to work towards what's best for the body and everyone in it and cannot exploit anyone. maybe philosophers and politicians should learn from them.

I’ve heard “Gatekeeper” but I’m still unclear as to what the specific definition is. Can someone help me out?
As an alter, a gatekeeper controls the ins and outs of the system, i.e.: who is allowed out to front, keeping someone out in front, etc. to protect others in the system or to help maintain secrecy of the system.

Cam A system I know have a gatekeeper who keeps all the trauma memories. No one is to step over the threshold without their consent.
