    I use various artistic outlets to help UK veterans suffering from PTSD to find an expression for their innermost feelings, such as painting, guitar, and poetry, whilst they are on The Mountain Way Experience, and am now exploring clay modelling. Your video is the best I have found so far Fatima in helping a complete novice to make a start. Thank you very much for this clear, well thought out, and delightful aid.

    This video is informative and I might be a little late but here's a tip, before you remove the clay from the packet, try to knead the clay inside the packet slightly itself so that when you open the packet it'll be easier to handle and the clay won't dry early

    I know this comment is late, but I just wanted to suggest that using disposable gloves keeps your hands clean and also helps you avoid the fingerprint marks that always seem to find their way on the clay. Thank you for the video! :)

    Thank you so much for this video. I bought air dry clay to make gifts for my friends. I was apprehensive about using it so it had been in the package for some time. I had been searching for a video tutorial but all I found made me anxious even more until I found your tutorial. You made it look easy and your explanations were clear. You showed how to do it step by step so I did along with you. I really enjoyed it and loved it. I hope when it dries the finished work wouldn’t shrink or crack too much. It was my first time so I wouldn’t be surprised if something go wrong. Thank you again.

      Fatema's Art Show Hi! I just wanted to say your art is beautiful, personally when I used this clay it didn't work properly it dried out very quick sadly. I used Hearty clay and it worked very well I just wanted to mention as your clay work seems quite professional, I recommend it! Japanese Air dry clays are made for professionals I'm not one but it worked well!

    I am just starting to work with air-dry clay. I tried creating something on my own but failed. It was great until it wasn't drying properly and it cracked. I learned why, from this video. I had it in a very warm room to dry. Lesson learned there. I will try again and let it sit at room temperature and hopefully it won't crack. You offered some GREAT tips for us beginners :) Will definitely be subbing and checking out your other work. You are very good at teaching!!

    Hey Fatema, I have this clay and have made some little models with it for my dioramas/miniature houses. I didn't want to be bothered with baking clay and found it rather good. I painted them with acrylic paints- they go on the dried clay very well.I like your ideas and it's giving me more for further art projects. Thanks for this. • @FatemasArtShow
      @FatemasArtShow  8 років тому

      Thank you for watching.
      Here are afew tips.
      1-Don't add too much water
      2- Let it dry slowly, drying too fast may also cause cracking. 3-If already cracked after drying, may be more difficult to repair, you can try using small amounts of clay to fill crack
      4- If thickness is very thin you may have to use glue
      5- Best not to make large pieces too thin.
      Hope that helps:) Take care

    • @FatemasArtShow
      @FatemasArtShow  6 років тому +1

      Marcela Anayexi Thanks for watching. Yes use the one that you put in the oven (klin) if you would like to use for food/drink and not for decorative purposes.

    • @marcelaanayexi4573
      @marcelaanayexi4573 6 років тому

    • @FatemasArtShow
      @FatemasArtShow  6 років тому +1

      Marcela Anayexi yeah you can't use your home oven. If you have a pottery barn in your area you can make one and they have the klin to fire it so you won't have to get a klin which is expensive. However search for your closest pottery barn and ask them. I am here always happy to help if you have any more questions.

    URGENT! Please help! I bought a blank masquerade mask with idea of using that as a template to make more out of air dry clay...so I moulded some air dry clay over the blank Mask and let it dry overnight..when I woke up one side had broke. Originally I thought it may have been too thin so I made another one and used clay that was a little under 1cm and the same thing happened! I have tried looking on the internet for a solution but I can't find anything! Please help me!!!!

    • @FatemasArtShow
      @FatemasArtShow  7 років тому +3

      +I'm Not Okay Hi just afew things to help. Instead of leaving it overnight to dry try speeding up the process by using a hairdryer. That way you can handle it to make sure it doesn't break. Its a possibly its the weight thats making it crack. If you want to continue working on it - to keep the clay from drying and cracking place a wet towel on the top.
      Hope this helps and good luck.

      Put a damp dishcloth over your mould and let dry in a cool place it will prevent cracking and moisture loss too quick....

    I love your video and am presently molding beads for jewelry. Do I need to use a glaze and if so what is the best glaze to use on air dry clay.

    hello, I need to know this asap so please reply as soon as possible, can I put glue or glue stick to the clay? Can I glue something to it? Not a store bought clay, a home made clay

      Anonymous Star Hi, it's probably too late since this was a month ago, but you can use glue. What kind of glue will work depends on what kind of clay you made, but it will have to be stronger than a glue stick. All purpose white glue, carpenter's glue, or super glue would probably be the best choices.

    Hi Fatima...really enjoyed your tutorial. Can you please tell me how I can make a fitting on back (preferably built in hole or something similar) so I can hang it on a wall? And would it be better to make a slab first, let it dry then add pieces if I want a 3D effect? Appreciate your help..Thanks Tracy 😁✨

    Thanks for the video. The only thing I dont like about air drying clay is it takes sooooo long to get it soft enough to shape... Too hard for kiddos... :/ Any tips on how to keep it softer for children...? Thanks for your time!

    Thank-you Fatema, I am very new to this clay & I am finding it hard to keep the clay from cracking. I am making Fairy houses & accessories, Some success & some failures, Maybe I should have used a little water like shown in this vt? We live & Learn lol.

    How fragile is air dry clay? If i were to make a hollow sphere and drop it; than would it shatter like glass?

    • @FatemasArtShow
      @FatemasArtShow  3 роки тому +1

      Hi. Thank you for watching the video. Air dry clay wouldn't shatter but it will break. I wouldn't recommend dropping it.
