The Shocking Flaw Tesla Must Address

- For a car that cost 55,000 and with all of this technology, I'm surprised to see that the automatic wipers don't function properly. They either don't wipe at all but most of the time I find them being extremely hyper. Especially on a dry day, suddenly they will go crazy which created scratches on my windshield. I keep hearing about a fix but the easy solution is to simply provide us with some sensitivity settings. Wipers should never be a one-size- fits all because different drivers have different comfort levels on the amount of rain drops they will allow on a windshield before they determine it should wipe

You can adjust the wipers after you push the button on the stalk by using the scroll wheel on the steering wheel
I’m aware of that, but that’s an extremely inefficient way to operate something so simple.
@@eddiemcars yes but the way you described it was like you had to use the screen in order to adjust it when that's not the case.
I bought my Model 3 in 2019 and the wipers seemed OK. However, the various software "upgrades" have rendered them useless. How important was it to change the font size of the "pin to drive" window, when they can't sort out the wipers??
Completely understand the frustration. Yes, as Tesla owners, we know that we change them to different intermittent speeds but why should we if there’s an option for auto. Me personally, I have them turned off and use auto until the rain passes over.
Amen. Gave up on even using my wipers in my Model S and just use rain X now.
My 2022 3 AWD goes from off on a dry day to auto and on as soon as I put cruise on! Then I have to use voice control to get wipers to stop. I have the latest software. Does this happen to you as well?
Yes! My windshield film got scratched because of this.
How am I suppose to ''see'' you are frustrated when you are wearing sunglasses mate?
1000% agreed!
If it’s of any use, a Tesla engineer confirmed that they do monitor how often someone activates the wipers in auto mode if the current speed is not good enough. But couldn’t agree more the auto wiper beta needs to improve.
you can manually adjust the speed ....
My model Y didn’t have that issue till the last FSD update. Now i’m part of the group! Damn thing annoying! 😂 and please, stop making comments just turn it “off”…you really think we didn’t try that?!
Compared to phanthom braking the wiper issue isn't that bad. It rains you choose the level of wiping. Hard braking on a higway just because a shadow or a car seems to want to cross a lane can scare you
As said in the video, LO and HI are rarely used but the 2 fixed intervals aren’t ideal. Funny enough I’ve only experienced phantom braking maybe once or twice in the 14,000 miles I’ve driven in this car. I use FSD or autopilot once a week.
Hyundai ev have the same braking problems.
Its called cost cutting. Just like with the ultra sonic sensors. Tesla can call it optimization or whatever their marketing and PR team comes up with. But the facts don't lie, user's have had a worst experience after those changes and Tesla has increased their profit margins on the cars by making these costs cuts.
I don't buy a car on future promises, but what it can do when delivered, which is why I avoided getting a Tesla this time around. I might reconsider when my current EV needs to be replaced, but only if they bring back basic things like Ultrasonic sensors, and esp. a Radar sensor, for driving assist features that pretty much all their competition easily handles today, features that work on day one you get the car. Sure continue to work on self driving, but don't cripple a car on the promise of tesla vision at some time being good enough (it never will be able to compete with a radar sensor in bad weather, since there is no vision ahead), when self driving will only be useful in several years into the future (and even longer here in Europe), by the time it will be available and not in beta, I will have changed to a new car several times.
It's sad how many years this has still been an issue since day one. If they can't make auto wipers work correctly, then don't have it because as you said, intermittent wipers are way better. I never use them anymore, it's always been better for me in any vehicle with auto wipers or auto lights or auto high beams to do them manually. And yes it's annoying as all get out when using FSD beta and they turn on and spray my freshly cleaned car. The worst is at a stop light and it sprays wiper fluid all over the place even hitting other vehicles, which sets me up into being a victim of a road rage incident. Not cool Tesla, fix it! Or at least let us be able to not have the wipers and auto high beams, on with FSD. And if it can't see with them off then have it turn FSD off, make it our choice to have those on or not. But your issue about having to hit the wiper button while driving without having to look at the screen is valid. It's even worse on Tesla's that don't have stalks. Less buttons isn't always a good thing Elon!
Tesla can indeed do a better job. I hate it when the wipers go on a clear day, kick in very late or stay in low speed when it begin to poor. If I can't see what's in front of me, why does the camera pick this up?
Camera is one small area not located where the driver is. It’ll improve over time.
womp womp
I have a model y for 4 months now and have the same issue that I brought it to the attention to Tesla and what I got that they are updating the software but until now the issue hasn’t been fixed. 😂
If you look in the user manual they list it as “beta” auto wipers 🤣
You are kidding, right?
@@eddiemcarsnope go look in the owner manual through the app or Tesla site under ur account it is listed as a beta feature, Tesla isnt a car company they’re a tech company they use beta alpha testing and so on to justify half ass products and “within spec” to say things are as should be
Yep, same problem. I just took delivery at rain and it's doing the same.
That's unfortunate. I was hoping HW4 cars would be a little better.
first world problems huh? turn off auto wipers, use pinky to push in the wipe button. oh the horror! guess what? none of my previous, more expensive cars, had properly functioning (to my satisfaction) auto wipers either.
So, let me get this straight - every time I want the wipers to wipe, I need to press the button with my pinky. That sounds like a ridiculous workaround, especially considering my daily commute which would = 20-25 presses. It's unacceptable that Tesla hasn't found a way to fix this yet.
Shocking? This is the definition of a first world problem.
It's quite surprising that a car that costs nearly $60,000, which can dance to the music in perfect sync and drive itself, fails to have windshield wipers that function efficiently.
Teslas are works-in-progress. It’s their way of reminding us that we’re living on the cutting edge.
How cool! You got one,! 😆 I think you should sell the car~ You aren't really capable of operating it correctly~ Get back in the ford, and keep your hands out of your pockets!
I take this as divine intervention to head back to BMW and ditch the troublesome EV. Fix the problem for them. 😊😂
I may end up with an i4 M50 lol
@@eddiemcars I been looking at a bmw I4 espually since they get great range for having aero of a regular bmw 4 series which is why they get great gas mileage
The auto wiper i had on my Mada 6 (MY10!) was light year better than a Tesla from 2024.
Me too. That’s why I'm aggravated. It's 2024
Just don't use auto wipers. Problem solved. You are wasting your time thinking about it..
You might have missed the point or didn’t watch the full length of the video. I’m fine by taking them out of AUTO mode but the issue is that theres ONLY 2 preset intervals which is unacceptable. I rarely find the use for LO and almost never need HI.
Also, when a car that cost nearly $60,000 (at time of my purchase) I would expect the convenience of rain sensing wipers to perform as expected instead of this vision only system.
Let’s not reinvent the wheel here, oh wait.. Tesla tried that too! All yokes aside, Tesla please fix this!
Works fine in my bmw 😂 shit Tesla
