I prefer to buy my goods from a shop on the high street/shopping centre. This is one of the measures that protects me from being taken in by these sort of scams.

This is why you always watch out for dubious deals. They're very likely out to scam you
For buying things online through third party sellers where there is no ironclad payment method or tracking availability, I always prefer to request 10% of the price of the things being purchased and the shipping cost to ensure the buyer is serious about the purchase and require a photo of the bank transfer, if I was the seller I would photograph the package at the post office and requested a tracking number to be messaged to me so I can send it to the buyer as evidence of the delivery.

disgusted even students can do it. platforms now adays should insert registration step which requires them to upload their own particulars and to even send people down to check
1. No one will upload their particulars, espresso on the Internet. Considering how many hackers there are and some companies are selling customer information, no one will do that.
2. Having people go down to verify seller's identity is too time consuming and not efficient.
This is why I always buys products from the store than online shopping

I almost got a scammer from a person claiming to be from shopee..,because I am a regular shopee customer and always trust shopee to shop.
But one day i receive call from the man if i win grandprize n explain hows that grandprize work bla bla bla.
Then i have to fill the form ask my name,phone number but when he ask my FIN number.,i already suspect that is scammer..,so i told him to send the form so i can fill myself..but he said i that form must fill online...so i cut the line coz i know that is scammer.
So people be careful.,don't focus on cheap price but must compare to retail/shop first.,different $10-15 still normal..,coz we must think abt the rent n the shopkeeper n the item also ready.
Awhile online much cheapest coz direct from the supplier n they don't have to pay a rent or shopkeeper n we have to wait few day to arrive.

i'm lucky i didn't shop online back then. there wasn't much education on online scams, plus i was still a kid so i surely would've been scammed...actually i've never dared to shop on facebook & other similar sites. i only use taobao & shopee, carousell & asos once in a blue moon. try your best to buy from sellers that have lots of ratings, as well as high ratings. i think back then there was no such things as ratings.
Apart from ratings, have to check out the "age" of the shop too. Usually new shops who offered "too good to be true" prices are red flags too
