why is it considered a private/civil matter when a casino wants to stop someone from playing at their casino because they have won too much?
but then considered a public/criminal matter that warrants public resources when someone uses technology to game the casino's slot machines?
in both instances, it ought to be considered purely a private matter for the casino to resolve. if they suspect that the individual has used technology to exploit their machines, they should dedicate their own time and resources to determine whether the individual has gamed the machine using technology.
in no situation should this breach of a private/civil contract warrant the usage of public resources and criminal sanctions. the casino is fully entitled to disgorge the individual of their winnings if they determined that he exploited their machines. much like a civil matter, the individual would then be entitled to challenge this disgorgement in a civil court.
it really is an overstep of the law to intervene in what appears to be a purely private and civil dispute. and a gross wastage of public resources.
