Being a walk on is stressful as hell, as a walk on you have to be perfect every practice for months, then improve in the weight room and work 100x harder than every one in spring.... it's possible, I did it. The hardest part of my walk-on was getting to eat at the training table. I had no money and completed every bit of the training, practices and meetings with the rest of the team. It wasn't until my junior year I won the starting job that some players insist to the managers I could join the table without scholarship. Thanks to them I could get a decent meal other than the ramen garbage I lived on.
I walked on to a D1 FCS school with the Overall goal to play at the University of Colorado. I knew if I could get on the field and get some college game tape CU would be much more open to giving me a shot. But mainly I didn't pay attention enough in class to have the GPA/ ACT score to get into CU. Anyway I ended up dropping out of College all together do to financial hardship and never went back after my freshman year. I trained every year as if I was going to return but never did. I'm 5'11, 195-200lbs back then ran a 4.6 40, had quick feet and looked like a football player. Played running back in high school and split time on the scout team at the position at the college level even though I was moved to receiver. I was a good football player and I had the attitude to back it. I turned down several division 2 partial scholarships. The day I got accepted to the college I went to I started calling the recruiting coordinator and leaving voicemails. I talked to him a few times and kept calling and leaving voicemails. This dude knew me by name and the high school I went to before I ever stepped foot on campus. I was on the team before I ever shook the dudes hand. (Not really but basically) They had a tryout and I was selected with a few other guys. After I left the FCS school I started emailing the recruiting coordinator at CU. I just never was able to pay bills get into school and live my dream. I was an ignorant broke kid too proud to ask for help. The rules I followed... to me number 1 you have to look like a football player, secondly you have to have the attitude like you can play.. third you have to actually be able to play.. and four you can't take no for an answer.. Get real comfortable with the weight room and training. Go out there and get it.. sell yourself. If you're currently in high school, start playing like a fuckin animal watch highlight tapes and reproducing what you see. If this is your dream put it on the line... You will get a shot.
yeah whoever the coach was who said that is a fucking idiot and has probably shot down a lot of excellent athletes because of stupid stereotypes. no wonder NC State sucks.
I’m a 6’1 210 pound Linebacker going into my senior year and these types of vids really help me out and motivate me because I live in Rhode Island and we don’t get as many big college scouts over here. Thanks a lot for the tips in this video really appreciate it!
Dezro going into my senior year I had interest from many D2s and a few D3 schools. My senior year was gonna be my year to get recognized from a D1 but unfortunately I dislocated my shoulder during the first game and missed the rest of the season due to surgery. I’m in college at my state school rn which is a D1 and I’m waiting for walk on tryouts which have been postponed because of covid. This may have helped me though because I’ve grown to be about 6’1 and a half and now weigh 240 and in better shape! Appreciate the question and the interest!
@@simoncarmona3025 I am currently going into football for the first time and I am a junior, I have been working, and I am currently assigned linebacker, I'm 6'2 and weigh 210, my dream is to get a d1 offer. Do you think that would be possible if I try my hardest and play to my max potential?
They really are. And trust me, I get a lot of grief for hating on them since I went there and I live near Raleigh, but with all they put me through I think I have the right to do all the hating I want. Plus they make it easy, haha.
www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/future/eligibility-center Anyone who is seriously considering playing any sport at the NCAA level can find all requirements for eligibility at the link above. Do this as early in your high school career as possible. It is your responsibility as a walk on to have this taken care of well prior to your attending the school If you don't have this information before you even contact the school, it shows a lack of dedication and commitment and puts you at a tremendous disadvantage. This is coming from a parent of a walk on in the SEC.
Expanga doesn't even matter the parent is giving good advice. The only question that you got out of that entire information is " what's you're sons name? " jesus Christ 😭😂
Watched this video many times and was surprised to hear that you tried out at NC State, as that’s where I always wanted to go (and do now) I played all through high school with no D1 offers and recently went to the walk on tryout and made the team! Glad we aren’t trash anymore too
I dreamt of being able to walk on at Ole Miss or Tennessee after my ACL injury. But the injury was worse than originally imagined. So congratulations to those young men who go out there as walk ons and make the team. You guys are an inspiration. Never let anyone say you can't do it. Dare to dream. Bro, if you can play the game and play it well, and have at least a C average, you'd be welcome on my team. Football has become too bureaucratic. You could be the best guy there and be disqualified over some bullshit conference or NCAA rule.🙄
The NCAA clearing house is a pain in the ass. They make it so hard to play, a lot of people I know were partial qualifiers, some kids were partial or non qualifiers because they didn't take 4 math classes in high school? the good thing about that is if you keep your grades up for a year you'll be qualified the next year.
Hey guys, thanks for the input. Since I first asked, my son is now 6' 205 lbs. He's been hitting the weight room and even wrestled this year at 195lbs class. He's running a 5.0 40 but I'm hoping as he grows into his body and gets stronger that his time will also become quicker.
THIS GUY SAID U CANT BE WHITE TO BE A RB doesn’t matter about race long as u r passionate as fuck it’s possible Keep striving to ur goals I believe in you
I joined the military straight out of high school. I know your 5 year clock is put on hold if you join the armed forces. But I am taking online classes while I am in the military. Does that make me ineligible?
I played 4 seasons at the D1 level at UNLV. Was a preferred walkon and earned a scholly. There are three ways to make a college team. (1) Get a scholly; (2) be a preferred walk-on; (3) actually try out. Everyone knows about the first way. You need film and have to big enough and good enough for a school to offer you. The third way everyone knows about. YOu don't need that much film, if any, to walk on with a real tryout. Problem with the try out path is only 2-3 people make the team, and you get on for spring practice. Once there for spring ball, you are on every scout team and get the shit beat out of you. We used to smack around the walk ons that had their tryout. The second way is when you are being recruited from high school, you have the size and skill, but not as much film. The coaches invite you to training camp in the fall as a member of the team and you are there without a tryout. You just have to earn a scholarship by performing on the field.
Most people dont under stand the "eligibility clock" either. The common misconception is that your clock starts when you start the sport(practice/etc) THIS IS NOT COMPLETELY TRUE FOR ALL LEVELS OF THE NCAA. For D2/D3 there's a 10 semester rule that you have only your first 10 semesters to play STARTING FROM DAY 1 OF COLLEGE. Maybe these rules dont apply to d1 sports, maybe at that level the clock starts when you start like everyone believes. So lets assume you spent 2 years at a d1 level college and transferred to a d2/d3 school. Your clock subtracts the 2 years worth of semesters and you only have 2 years of eligibility. Lets say you finished your undergrad and decided to play in grad school, for d2/d3 you're basically out of luck. I hope this helps.
hey David, I'm new to your channel. I'm 17 years old. I run a 4.5 40 time, weigh 170 and I'm 5'9.I played football as a RB and want to be one in college. I consider myself a good player and I think I have what it takes to play at the next level. obviously weight is an issue as of right now. I have been lifting a lot more and putting on the right weight before I consider a walk on. like you, I desire to be in the NFL but I have a few questions. In terms of stats, what weight and 40 time should I have to have to get noticed? When is a good time in the year to walk on? do you think my height is an issue? btw I'm not white, haha. plz reply! i enjoy your content and just subscribed to your channel!
It's not that hard when you're home schooled. In a class setting you only learn at the speed the majority of the class learns, whereas when you're studying on your own you aren't hindered by anyone else. Think about all the times you already knew what the teacher was talking about but you still had to sit through an hour long class. It adds up to years of wasted time.
I feel like you're an exception because you went to college so early at just 16 years old instead of 18 like most high school seniors. I walked on at my college (missouri state, and yes i made the team) and faced really no problems when it came to eligibility.
Btw. I would not classify myself as a great athlete by any means, but if you show you know what you're doing and do everything at 100% (even a short sprint back to the line) that will make you a lot more desirable.
I think I must have done a bad job at communicating this in the video, but the reason I had eligibility issues is because I was home schooled and went to a juco college first. Not a traditional route to college. I put all my focus on learning the game and performance metrics so I was in great shape when I got to State but that didn't matter. Also, Chad Jamison the recruiter told me if I was at State than I would be eligible because the school's academic standards are much higher than the NCAA's. If he hadn't told me that I likely would have put a lot more time and effort into making sure I was eligible, which is the main reason I have so much disdain for NCSU.
I want to walk on at my local state university, I have some D3 Offers and 1 D2 but playing for a D1 Program is my dream. Any advice for contacting coaches?
This is helpful, I want to play football (im a freshman) and everyone in my highschool who play football are the cocky jocks who think their high tier because their dad played in highschool and I just don’t want that drama lol
what if you never played highschool football due to injury then transferring to a different highschool that same year? ive read online that its possible to play for a college team without high school experience. but when i asked my community college coach he told me i couldn't because i have no film. does it vary on what school you go to?
You're right about what you said they decide on. It's annoying because the 40 yard dash is pointless for most positions lol I have friends including myself that have perfect field speed but less than elite 40s but it 100% doesn't effect on field performance for us. I run down wr's with top 40's when mine sucks lol
I walked on the field way back in Kansas. I had a lot of issues because I was out of state!!! I ended up getting a semi scholarship and was second string LB. found out I was playing and still paying a lot of cash to the school. I told my dad I wanted to finish my senior year in state to take some of the headaches away. Guess I was right he was wrong!!!
I just got out of my freshman season and am finishing my freshman fall semester at an NAIA school and I am transferring to an NCAA D1 school for my freshman spring semester. I have good grades and ACT and have already been accepted to one of the schools im am considering walking onto. Is there anything eligibility-wise that I should be concerned about?
Rafael Cisneros I’m 5’ 10 and 204lbs is that fine and I never played in a football team so I’ll basically just tryout will I have a chance on the team for a community college
see now this is crazy.. I was looking up videos on how it is like to walk on D1. I am a D3 football player (6'1 155) but I am transferring to.. NC STATE! I am trying to walk on because I don't want to let my dreams die just yet.
Definitely gonna grind in the weight room and get myself in fighting shape to try out for OSU when they hold theirs and a few other Ohio colleges and maybe Pitt or something not sure but I feel my size helps me especially since I’d be a lineman
I'm a freshman in college and im 6'3 220 and my 40 is about 4.56 I have a 34 inch vertical and my best trait is my hands. They are 11 inches. I did not play football in high school cause I tried out as a freshman and I was fat and out of shape so my coach made fun of me. I got in amazing shape in junior year but didn't play to spite my coach. Will an ok d1 team even look at me?
If the stats you gave are correct then yes, those are pretty great numbers. I would just encourage you to train as hard in the gym and on the field as you can. I think you could get on a team with where you are now and definitely if you improve a little bit. Just make sure you're eligible to play.
I have a question...how are you gonna go to the try outs without a schedule ? Like how many months before the try outs do you have to ask for the try outs before you have a schedule?
I'm a 230 pound 6'0-6'1 center/guard in high school football(15 years old) I have played pretty good and play up for my senior team I also play for a provincial team (in Canada).
Guys I will tell you all of this is completely true. I walked on coastal Carolina. I was 6'0 220 and tried out for linebacker and made the team but got cut right before the fall. I tried out again for running back and made the team and ended up playing a lot. It all depends on how you fall in the depth chart and a lottttttttt of politics involved with the game. If you dont make a team, do not be discouraged. Half of the time it is politics involved with making the team. The varsity flag football team I played with at the university, some of those guys were way better some of the guys that were on the main roster
I just saw this comment. I’m transferring into coastal Carolina for the spring. Have been going to tech because of high school grades. Can i message you for more info about your experience? I’m looking to tryout for them in the spring.
I started my clock without even knowing that once you go full time It starts . Regardless if you’re an athlete or not . So when after i played juco and it was almost time to transfer , all this information that my d1 clock would be up hit out of no where . I️ wasn’t playing football for the first year or so. D2 is easier cause you can start and stop your clock
i really regret not playing football in high school. im a gym rat run a lot but i want to play football in college. i have no experience, its a far stretch, but i want to try. i want to give it my all and want to at least try.
Did you play football in highschool too? I was homeschooled as well and homeschooled kids weren't allowed on public school teams until the year after i graduated... I went to public school For my 9th grade year and played football and alternated between RB/WR/CB. I was looking at going to a walk on tryout next year when I go into my 4 year university after getting my associates degree at a community college. I'm only 5'8" and 155lbs right now. I was really good at CB my freshman year, but because of my size, they had me at RB more than anything. I'm a little short to be a CB or WR, but do you think I'm a decent size for a RB? When I played freshman year, I was only 5'1", 120lbs. Thanks, Joey
Also I'm a white guy, so I might be denied the position before I even tryout. Haha. (That's BS btw that they told you that. There are countless white guys who are awesome running backs. Id say the moron didn't know what he was talking about)
Graduating high school at 16 is tragic, unless u are a freak athlete, u won't be playing college football at age 16 or 17, like I'm 18 as a senior in high school lol
Plan on walking-on @ Texas A&M in about a year or so! Just started lifting and working on my speed work.🙌🏼 Even though i have 0 experience playing football i plan on showing out regardless!
I've never played football by my 40 without cleats is a 4.68 and my squat is 550, bench 350, deadlift 590. Do you think I can get any attention from coaches?
Those are great numbers, so yes, but keep in mind even if you're extremely athletic you will get burned if you don't develop actually football skills. Also, don't tell coaches you don't have experience, just develop the skills now and don't mention it.
it is different ways of making a nfl roster its not always about what you know it is about who you know what he is saying is college will be on the hush about things thats why a lot of people play in the cfl or afl then go to the nfl
Hey man I'm in a different situation looking to walk on somewhere. I'm wanting to walk-on as a grad student, do you think this process would be much different?
Hi I'm a junior in high school and I am a kicker what kind of stuff do I do to get a colleges attention like tape of me just kicking field goals? And how long should my field goal range be for d1 or d2 college?
I'm a rugby player from South Africa still in high school though but I wanna come over to the USA and try it out any suggestions on what I should do when it comes to trying nfl out
There are D3 teams that can absolutely steamroll D2 teams. The division isn’t necessarily a rank of how good the team it, it’s how much money the college chooses to invest in the sport
I'm facing the same problems at Georgia Southern. The coaches don't even give two shits about any of the walk ons and some of my friends that have walked on the team said that the walk ons get treated like shit and don't see the field. I was thinking of going to tryouts in the fall and I'm confident I would make the team but I just don't know if it'll be worth it
If you're going to get anywhere as a walk-on you'll have to be as good or better than the starts to get noticed. If you don't think you can do that it probably won't be worth it.
Crap I homeschooled too and couldn't find any high school teams that would let me play for them. I graduate this semester but am waiting a year before I go to college.
Is there any way for me to play college ball if I started a program called running start which lets me take college classes for two years to get my AA degree and diploma at the same time? I've read up on all the comments to try and figure it out myself, but there isn't enough information for me to know about my situation. I have also read up on NCAA requirements for this. But they all just mention graduating high school. I'm 17 and half way done with my first year in this program.
I would not recommend this, but If you do want to still play football there is always arena league witch almost any decent sized town or city has one and is pretty easy to get on to Just a suggestion
I have a similar thing happening to me, like I graduated from homeschool at 16 and I've been in a community college for about 2 years but I wanna transfer to a four year college. And I think I might have a little less experience then you when you were going for tryouts, and like I need more information about how the process you were talking about so I don't screw myself over
Did you take either your SAT or ACT before enrolling in college? And have you registered with the NCAA? The most important thing to do is to make sure you are a Qualifier with the NCAA before you transfer to a 4-year school.
David Duncan ooooh ok see your a life saver no one told me I had to register before I transfer to a 4-year college I was just left clueless about the whole thing so I'd have to register with NCAA after that what do I look for like what precautions and what things should i watch out for and what should I stay focused on?
Well first let me preface this by saying, it's been a few years since I thoroughly looked at all the transfer rules, so you should double check everything. It will be a different and much easier process if when you register with the NCAA they deem you a Qualifier vs a Non-Qualifier. You should register today and figure that out. If you are a Qualifier then go talk to someone at the Athletic Department of the school you're transferring to make sure your schedule won't conflict with practice times and when they hold the tryout. Past they just make sure you're in the best shape you can possibly be in.
Thanks for the advice. I'm starting my senior year, but because of an injury, I am unable to actually play. I have no film from Junior year, so most likely I'll have to take the Walk On route. I'm 16 (I know I'm young, I skipped a grade), 5'7 190 (still growing, so there's no telling how big I'll be come next year) but don't really know my 40. What would you suggest be a good 40 time? Also, will not having any film available too negatively impact me?
So it's me again. I will be attending NU, and was wondering when and how frequently it is a good time to contact the coaches. I was thinking around a month before I enroll (late August) and about once a week from then on; however I was told that I should contact the coaches as early as now, and contact him about every 2 weeks to keep him posted. What do you suggest. Also, who would be better to contact? The head coach, or the RB Coach (who's also the head of recruiting), or both? Thanks.
John Doe hey bro i know its been 2 years but how it go? I’m at a Juco right now, a year removed from my senior year of high school and i plan on transferring to University of Wisconsin this fall to walk on. Any advice? I been trying to contact coaches and recruiting assistants but no response yet. I also didn’t play this year with my Juco team due to team’s structure overall. I also think thats a good thing I didn’t play this past season due to me being fresh but it also could hurt due to rust. But yeah if you could give me some advice, tell me how your journey went, and where you’re are now I’d greatly appreciate it bro
I'm a guard/left tackle. do I have any chance of making the team? I'm planning to be a walk-on from belgium. So do I have to be a US citizen to be elligeble?
karan patel just check the schools requirements, if you're accepted to the school and you're in talks with the coaching staff (try to sign papers for records) then you'll be fine

I’m a 6’1 210 pound Linebacker going into my senior year and these types of vids really help me out and motivate me because I live in Rhode Island and we don’t get as many big college scouts over here. Thanks a lot for the tips in this video really appreciate it!
Did you get a D1 offer?
Dezro going into my senior year I had interest from many D2s and a few D3 schools. My senior year was gonna be my year to get recognized from a D1 but unfortunately I dislocated my shoulder during the first game and missed the rest of the season due to surgery. I’m in college at my state school rn which is a D1 and I’m waiting for walk on tryouts which have been postponed because of covid. This may have helped me though because I’ve grown to be about 6’1 and a half and now weigh 240 and in better shape! Appreciate the question and the interest!
@@simoncarmona3025 great job man, it's very unfortunate that you got injured in your senior year, I know you will make your team and ball out!
@@simoncarmona3025 I am currently going into football for the first time and I am a junior, I have been working, and I am currently assigned linebacker, I'm 6'2 and weigh 210, my dream is to get a d1 offer. Do you think that would be possible if I try my hardest and play to my max potential?
Dezro appreciate it a ton fam!
I love the way he rags on NC State, he's completely right though, they're trash.
They really are. And trust me, I get a lot of grief for hating on them since I went there and I live near Raleigh, but with all they put me through I think I have the right to do all the hating I want. Plus they make it easy, haha.
lol they beat FSU

Anyone who is seriously considering playing any sport at the NCAA level can find all requirements for eligibility at the link above.
What's your sons name?
Expanga doesn't even matter the parent is giving good advice. The only question that you got out of that entire information is " what's you're sons name? " jesus Christ 😭😂
Jeff Sone If you only have 14-15 core classes required by your senior year you can complete after graduation
Expanga - His name is Cooper Sone (#61) played LT in High School and has been moved to Center at Arkansas. Will be a redshirt Soph in 2017.
Are you on Hogville.net? I think iv'e seen you around there before.
this is great, im a sophmore in highschool and looking into my future, watching this video helps me prepare and i have time so this is great
Watched this video many times and was surprised to hear that you tried out at NC State, as that’s where I always wanted to go (and do now) I played all through high school with no D1 offers and recently went to the walk on tryout and made the team! Glad we aren’t trash anymore too
That's awesome man, glad you made it.
I’m trying out for Rutgers I’m a few years, thanks for he help!
No problem, good luck!
minimum SAT score of 1800. MINIMUM SAT SCORE OF 1800!!! u can get into harvard with a SAT score like that
This was most likely when the SAT was on a different scale😂
" If you take more than 9 credits hours before you transfer to a D1 school" This is what screwed me
be good in high school is a super easy way to get in to college.
Life is hard unless u really prepared
THIS GUY SAID U CANT BE WHITE TO BE A RB
doesn’t matter about race long as u r passionate as fuck it’s possible
Keep striving to ur goals I believe in you
Not corner
You’re a good person thank you
Thanks bro
Came across your channel and I love it. A combination of football and lifting, two things I love. Subscribed immediately.
Aaron Reed ya but what if one of the tryouts are not getting beat up by starters and are actually competing with them?
Niggas go to UNLV for shoes and free cause it's definitely not to win.
What if you have 0 film?
Jordan are you black?
Jordan
Jordan play well & have good grades
...I'm white can I still be a RB?
Jordan put on some weight
how tf did this kid graduate at 16
It's not that hard when you're home schooled. In a class setting you only learn at the speed the majority of the class learns, whereas when you're studying on your own you aren't hindered by anyone else. Think about all the times you already knew what the teacher was talking about but you still had to sit through an hour long class. It adds up to years of wasted time.
ccoolin cc for real
I did wasn't really that hard when you start school early
ccoolin cc kids do it all the time. High school is incredibly easy.
Alot of this doesn't add up. Colleges like walkons because they are free fresh meat for the hamburger team.
same thing happened to me at university of Memphis. Now I play D2 at Clark Atlanta University
brandon52294 what happened bro? I’m thinking about playing there to
I feel like you're an exception because you went to college so early at just 16 years old instead of 18 like most high school seniors.
I wish UA-cam existed when I was in High School all my Football Highlights is on VHS
I walked on at Troy, you’re delivering the right message bro💯 keep it up
I'm Irish and I've been playing ball in Dublin, I'm thinking of going to college in the states and my grades are very good, am I eligible
what if you never played highschool football due to injury then transferring to a different highschool that same year? ive read online that its possible to play for a college team without high school experience. but when i asked my community college coach he told me i couldn't because i have no film. does it vary on what school you go to?
You got injured for 4 yrs?
Just keep on grinding
Everyone in this comment section wanna walk on and make a name of themselves. Just keep grinding for this
Just grind bro I’m training to walk on with no high school film also just put in the work and thing will fall in place trust me
My problem is that my mom won’t let me play highschool ball
That sucks fuck, hope you have found balance with this life changing experience
I've found other things to pursue so I'm mostly over it at this point. Only a little bitter now lol
You're right about what you said they decide on. It's annoying because the 40 yard dash is pointless for most positions lol I have friends including myself that have perfect field speed but less than elite 40s but it 100% doesn't effect on field performance for us. I run down wr's with top 40's when mine sucks lol
I was a college football walk-on and I did a scholarship! D2 and naia is a good place
How did you try out for the team? Did you have to contact the coach? Or is there somewhere you go to sign up?
I'm 6'3 310lbs and all I have to do was show up to practice and made it
Rafael Cisneros I’m 5’ 10 and 204lbs is that fine and I never played in a football team so I’ll basically just tryout will I have a chance on the team for a community college
see now this is crazy.. I was looking up videos on how it is like to walk on D1. I am a D3 football player (6'1 155) but I am transferring to.. NC STATE! I am trying to walk on because I don't want to let my dreams die just yet.
Yo,how it go?
Thanks uncle rico
No hay problema, hombrecito.
+David Duncan so if I didn't play high school ball they would fine with it?
As a walk-on, probably. I wouldn't tell them you didn't play though.
thanks for the advice ill let you know if i make it
+Chris Tortoriello I pray you make it.
I have a question...how are you gonna go to the try outs without a schedule ? Like how many months before the try outs do you have to ask for the try outs before you have a schedule?
Hey i know this is 3 years later but I'm wondering if i can walk on to a different college's team if i go to a college that has no football team
I'm 99% sure you can't play for a school if you aren't enrolled there
Good points! My son is LB at 14. He's playing varsity and he's 5'11" and 200 lbs. What's a good 40 time for him? BTW that's a cool shirt!
Get his weight down to 190 lean muscle or 200 lean muscle but 4.5-5 is good for someone his size
That's good, I'm 19 walking on at Liberty university for LB he's the same weight as me but most coaches look at his performance and strength
Good 40 time for linebackers(depending if he's inside or outside linebacker) inside LB- 4.7 or faster outside- 4.6/4.5 or faster
yo i went to lu last year i loved. Transfered to a juco for baseball this year though.
Thanks! At 14 I wouldn't expect him to be that fast. If he's running a 5.0sec 40 or faster that is good for his age and size.
Can I still make college even though Im from europe and Im already 20 years old ??
K
Wont make it in the NFL at 30...
Anthony Quintanilla might wanna do your research a couple guys have already and Brandon Weeden came in at 28
Victor Dunson couple guys doesn't give you a chance and they Brandon sucks and was 28...
no
I’m a junior and haven’t seen the field yet and think I might have to walk on.
Go for it, if you're good you'll probably make it
Bro thank you so much for this video
I really wanna play football at any level even if I have to walk on but I feel like I won’t even be able to walk on because I am not strong enough
I'm a 230 pound 6'0-6'1 center/guard in high school football(15 years old) I have played pretty good and play up for my senior team I also play for a provincial team (in Canada).
Do you think I have a chance?
You're big enough, just make sure you get as fast and strong as you can and keep learning the intricacies of your position.
+David Duncan thanks
Basicly the same thing happened to my brother, except he was academically eligible.
I’m 15 and skinny but my dream is to play football and I wanna know if it’s too late
Hey man never too late. Work hard and live your dream 💪
This is great advice 👌🏾
Glad you liked it!
I started my clock without even knowing that once you go full time
It starts . Regardless if you’re an athlete or not . So when after i played juco and it was almost time to transfer , all this information that my d1 clock would be up hit out of no where . I️ wasn’t playing football for the first year or so. D2 is easier cause you can start and stop your clock
Never even occurred to me that eligibility rules would be a factor. Thought this would be for JUCO transfers and other countries.
That is what I had to do to play for JSU. helpful
i really regret not playing football in high school. im a gym rat run a lot but i want to play football in college. i have no experience, its a far stretch, but i want to try. i want to give it my all and want to at least try.
Pretty simple to me. Transfer to a college outside of the ACC. Preferably a Independent.
I’ve never played a game a day in my life...still gonna try out tho
Id say the moron didn't know what he was talking about)
Yeah... I wasn't a very big kid. My whole family is really short

Moses Skjei that's my situation and it trust me it sucks because I'll never know my full potential
Plan on walking-on @ Texas A&M in about a year or so! Just started lifting and working on my speed work.🙌🏼 Even though i have 0 experience playing football i plan on showing out regardless!
wish i wouldve known this before, thanks for the advise tho
I've never played football by my 40 without cleats is a 4.68 and my squat is 550, bench 350, deadlift 590. Do you think I can get any attention from coaches?
Those are great numbers, so yes, but keep in mind even if you're extremely athletic you will get burned if you don't develop actually football skills. Also, don't tell coaches you don't have experience, just develop the skills now and don't mention it.
David Duncan thank you so much. How can i work on developing football skills when I don’t have a team to work with right now?
Matthew Jones you might have to work on your own on the field or contact some players that play for the team to train with you
You don’t just think you deserve a scholarship it’s how they view you and if they think you deserve a scholarship.
it is different ways of making a nfl roster its not always about what you know it is about who you know what he is saying is college will be on the hush about things thats why a lot of people play in the cfl or afl then go to the nfl
Hey man I'm in a different situation looking to walk on somewhere. I'm wanting to walk-on as a grad student, do you think this process would be much different?
Tvcc coaches are awesome
I’m trying to walk on Detroit Mercy’s lacrosse team
What if you're 19 and didn't play any high-school ball?
So you have to be attending the school to tryout
Yes, unless you get an invite from the recruiting staff which I definitely wouldn't count on.
Hi I'm a junior in high school and I am a kicker what kind of stuff do I do to get a colleges attention like tape of me just kicking field goals? And how long should my field goal range be for d1 or d2 college?
Jdhbph try to go to the kohl's kicking camp
Tommy Glodo thanks
Jdhbph go to kicking camps
Being a kicker for d1 is harder to make since they don't use as many
Best way to deal with this stuff is trust (GOD)
I'm a rugby player from South Africa still in high school though but I wanna come over to the USA and try it out any suggestions on what I should do when it comes to trying nfl out
Can you be eligible if you do not have a high school diploma but a G.E.D. ?
Chris Walker community college
David do you think I can walk onto a D3 without any high school film?
Yes, if you're good enough to play then definitely.
Bro D3 is nerds playing football
You don't even need film for a d3 😂
Easily. D3 isnt even ran through the NCAA so all the regulations he was talking bout has nothing to do with you
There are D3 teams that can absolutely steamroll D2 teams.
If you are still in high school I do not believe that program will start your play clock. I would still call the NCAA to confirm that, though.
Thank you! I'm contacting them and my local high school coach
I would not recommend this, but If you do want to still play football there is always arena league witch almost any decent sized town or city has one and is pretty easy to get on to
Just a suggestion
David Duncan thank you so much, your like the only to actually help me figure this out. Now I have a starting point
Great, I'm glad I could help!
If you're walking on no film is ok, your 40 time will depend on what position you play. What do you play?
David Duncan RB
You could probably walk on if you run a 4.6 or better but it would be best if you could get it at or below a 4.55 if you want to play on a D1 level.
So do I have to be a US citizen to be elligeble?
karan patel nope.. u can walk on still
karan patel just check the schools requirements, if you're accepted to the school and you're in talks with the coaching staff (try to sign papers for records) then you'll be fine
Interesting story. Playing football in college is an insanely hard process
what happens if ive studied through highschool overseas but still played in a league?
That’s like saying oh I think I’m better than Christian mcafferey
