The greatest rivalry in tennis. And we have had the opportunity to see it. I will speak about this to the new generations. These two men, and Federer, elevated the greatness of tennis greater than almost any other sport.

@@letrantrung1 Norrie apologized but he just put his hand up for maybe 2 seconds (after turning his back completely) and walked away and after that did nothing. Djokovic never really gave Norrie a chance to apologize at the net but I think Norrie had no intention of doing so even if Djokovic didnt do a no look handshake. That is the only no look handshake I can ever recall Djokovic doing (if someone else knows of another instance of Djokovic doing a no look handshake win or lose, I'd be very interested to see it so please let me know!). Meanwhile Rafa actually waited at the net for Djokovic to turn around and was looking at Djokovic when he put his hand up to apologize. Plus Rafa made sure to say it in words to Djokovic at the net after the match was finished. Additionally the big 3 all have immense respect for one another and their handshakes are always very respectful so Novak was never really gonna do a no look handshake with Rafa. Go back to Wimbledon 2019 where Nick did it to Rafa intentionally (even admitting so in press) and didnt apologize...the handshake afterwards wasnt a no looker but was a very quick one.

Besides 2010 USO and maybe 2012 AO, this was the best that Nadal ever played on hardcourts. Yet he still needed a 3rd set tiebreak to put away Djokovic. This speaks volumes to how difficult it was to beat prime Djokovic on hardcourts.
@mysticnomad89 2009 AO was perhaps the best in terms of movement, but 2010 and 2013 Nadal was more complete, had a better serve, and was a much better ballstriker. Compare 2010 USO's Nadals serve to 2009 AO Nadals serve, and you'll see that it is not even close.
Djokovic being a hardcourt king needed tight 5 sets in Australia and tight 3 sets in Miami 2011 to beat rafa in hardcourts ..this also speaka the volume how difficult to beat prime Rafa in all surfaces
Those second and third points in the tiebreak are what won Nadal this match, he hit those 2 forehands so damn hard, Djokovic for as calculated as he is had no answer.

The great thing about Rafa in 2013 is that he took the #1 spot for the year from prime Djokovic. He is probably the biggest difference from 2010. There is no doubt that Rafa had a great showing in 2010, but I don't think there were enough threats to him. Novak, who was in poor form at the time, and Roger, who was past his peak. Compared to 2010, 2013 must have been a very difficult environment in terms of having a prime Djokovic. For Rafa, prime Novak is the opponent who is the worst match for him, but even so, they were even at 3-3 that year. He outscored him in points for the year. In addition, Rafa's winning percentage exceeded 90% for the first time in his career that year. This was after competing in numerous tournaments. Without a doubt, this is one of his best seasons.

@@chiefnama790no. He’s playing good…but not remotely close to his prime. Compare his mobility here to now lol
@@mikemoggerson6651 ah bon...et a l'OA 2023 vous en aviez pensé quoi ?
@mikemoggerson6651 Mobility is not at its prime, but it's still really high. However, he has a BIGGER forehand, BETTER serve, and a BETTER net game than he's EVER had in his career. A slightly better backhand, too.
He is still VERY much in his prime. Acting like he isn't because he's 36 is just LAZY analysis.

Thank you for capturing one of my favorite matches. Both players were just crushing the ball. Its the best clean ball striking I’ve ever seen.
Lucky are those who enjoyed watching the big three while acknowledging their achievements 💯you didn’t have to take sides.
I feel 2012-14 was the peak of their rivalry. They really figured each other out and had some great matches. 07-10 nadal had his number 11 djokovic had his number and 12-14 it was back and forth insanely good tennis.
Back when match highlights from 2013 were much better quality then what we have now in 2023
Everything was better in 2013 honestly
Damn i will miss these matches
11:14 The rally you all came to see.
What a match!
But this has to be the worst final set tiebreak Djokovic has ever played. Errors on nearly every point.
I think Novak talked this over with Nadal at the net after the match.
@@letrantrung1 Yup, Nadal apologized to Djokovic at the end of the match. And also put his racket up to apologize right when the incident happened. Totally legal shot but IMO one should definitely apologize after hitting that shot.
Thanks! I didn't want to watch the entire video.
@@J_NoNamesLeft73 yeah, I am a fan of Nole but I remembered clearly that they talked this over and Nole did not say about it like he did to Norrie 2 months ago.
I remember Nadal had just recovered from injury on 2013... and won all US Open Series including Cincinnati, Montreal and US Open ... deserves more extra prize of USD 1 million..!
This is what it looked when nadal really was healthy
The longevity matters, nothing else :)
Indeed Nadal is the GOAT and this match is just evidence of that.

@@SebastianSaavedra28 Peak Novak Djokovic would've been made to look a fool by 2004-2007 Federer 🦾
Besides 2010 USO and maybe 2012 AO, this was the best that Nadal ever played on hardcourts. Yet he still needed a 3rd set tiebreak to put away Djokovic. This speaks volumes to how difficult it was to beat prime Djokovic on hardcourts.
naah it had to be Australian open 2009 and then US 2010 and 13
@mysticnomad89 2009 AO was perhaps the best in terms of movement, but 2010 and 2013 Nadal was more complete, had a better serve, and was a much better ballstriker. Compare 2010 USO's Nadals serve to 2009 AO Nadals serve, and you'll see that it is not even close.
@@jacobschmidt2709Nadal also beat Djokovic much more easily at the USO 3 weeks after this though. 6-2 3-6 6-4 6-1
2009 AO for sure must be included in the best ever Rafa hardcourt levels.
Djokovic being a hardcourt king needed tight 5 sets in Australia and tight 3 sets in Miami 2011 to beat rafa in hardcourts ..this also speaka the volume how difficult to beat prime Rafa in all surfaces
Sad knowing we might never see them play each other again. We were truly privileged
Truth. End of an era
Why what happened?
Those second and third points in the tiebreak are what won Nadal this match, he hit those 2 forehands so damn hard, Djokovic for as calculated as he is had no answer.
I think this is one of Rafa's last times beating Djokovic on a hard court. If memory serves the last coming later this year at the US Open. Hope he comes back soon.
im so bummed i only started watching tennis a year ago. i wish i could have watched nadal, federer and djoker more in their prime

Real Rafa died in 2014 in the other side roger is getting worse every year since 2013 . That explains why novak dominated in this era because since 2011 he is getting better and continue congrats for him he deserves it
I was agreeing with you until I read the very end of your comment.
Novak always modified his game that's why he got better success.
How many slams rafa won after 2014?
Yeah who cares that Roger got washed at 30 and Nadal at 27...
It’s amazing that just 10 years later Djokovic will be the best player of all time, without question, and that Nadal would be making bitter statements about Djokovic’s success. What once was a rivalry is now a complete objective triumph for Novak. The debate is finished. Novak is the best player of all time and the most elegant and beautiful player of all time.
What bitter statements had nadal made

Great match with the two greatest players playing at their prime on a neutral court, not fast grass nor slow clay.

I agree, maybe i’m delusional but i genuinely think injuries stopped him from winning at least 4 more slams
@@duncan3932 You might be right but with the way Nadal plays, it's no wonder he has had so many injuries. Djokovic is much more economical with his movement and energy.
Does anyone know why the ball looks like it’s travelling through the air so slow?
Probably combination of camera angle and slow court. Also, Nadal and Djokovic were never the biggest hitters on the tour.
Watch any nadal matches esp pre 2017. The spin he puts on the ball extends the rallies and matches

Both played high quality tennis, Nadal played great tie break, Djokovic was off at tie break.
Gracious at loss, Djokovic ❤
Remember kids, this is what prime Đoković and Nadal looks like. Neither of them were playing these last years at a 60% of the level displayed here, yet they won more than before.

@@ירוןארד Exactly. Someone who never watched tennis before 2015 could say anything like that. And he won those 11 slams more easily than the prior 11.

@@masters.1000 I applaud you for your critical thinking skills. Djokovic's stat padding over the last 4 years should not place him above Federer in the GOAT debate.

In the heat of the moment of course its expected for the player getting hit to be angry, or upset. This happens to me every time for myself or with friends when we go hard. But at the end, when all things have settled, we laugh about it.
