It makes my heart happy when I see someone having a great time playing guitar. Impressive variety of tones and capabilities, great to see Ola smile and throw some stank faces...! Looking forward to the day I can procure one...! Rock on!
FAQ: My wife and I continue to worry about my hearing, especially with loud amps. When you're not recording and just messing with big amps, do you sit to the side of it like that? Just dawned on me that it might be a better way for your ears to enjoy all that sounds without murdering your ears. Thanks from Minnesota :)
Ola, thank you for this. Not just the amp review but I applied the tone settings to the MKIIC mode on my MK5 25 and achieved something that has been eluding me the entire time I have owned the amp. I never would have thought to min and max the EQ like this. Seriously thanks.
I have one to and I just love channel one on that amp it has a whole lott of girth in channel one . and you cant get that on channel 2 unless you use the Shred mode it's not my game . I like it tidy and clean !
Hahaha ! Ya the perfect beginner combo that lets you hear every mistake and fuck-up instantly lol ! Seriously, this rig is incredible and no wonder that Ola's excited
Oh hell no. It'll be the killer of dreams from the get go. Whereas amps like Marshalls and Friedmans will coddle you and make you sound good even when playing halfassed or if you're just plain rubbish, all of the Mark series amps call you out on all that bullshit. Play bad and you'll sound even worse. Play well with lots of effort/passion and it will sound amazing. The IIC+ is the worst of the Mark series for this. You have to bring your A game all of the time.
I've just noticed that the name of the amp is basically John's name...just read it...JP2C...John PiTwoCi Alright I'm sorry for this waste of time, bye! SICK VIDEO OLA!
I think every single fan was waiting for this video. As a new Mesa user I couldn't be happier with the Mark V 90w head that I got 2 months ago. Only took me 22 years to get a REAL amp, wtf is wrong with me. I'll be kicking myself in the ass for that for a while. Got a rec 4x12 weeks ago and it blows away my cheap ass cabs. Your use of the SM57 mic fortifies my choice to pick one up. Recording with my phone sucks and need to get a focusrite interface to be able to accurately demonstrate how damn good the amp sounds. Also,so i can download & fail at playing to your backing tracks.
Last comment. I have a boogie vtwin preamp pedal and boogies rock. Nothing beats them. My little silver toy absolutely BURIES pretty much anything that stands in its way. One day, one day, I will also own a Mark v head so I can get Mark IV tone. The IV is the greatest sounding tone the Lord ever gave us. That tone at :44 through 1:29.. Awesome. Especially when John hits that chord at :53 in the original recording. Goosebumps.
Could you create video about how do you create backing tracks with such accuracy ? Keys, bass, drums are spot on. Who is with me ? Great stuff as always !
I really love Shure SM57, but Ola is free to use whatever microphones he likes! Awesome sound, by the way! I enjoyed the moment when Ola played "No Compromise"! I love this song!
There's this other UA-cam-er with a shit-ton of amps that I like. And no matter how many different rigs he's put together, and there is LOTS, he always sounds the same! (Louis Torres) You know who else is like that? Eric Johnson. Gus G. YOU for that matter. Now Ola was on his game, imitating the tones and inflections of Petrucci, and then without apparently doing anything (unless edited) to the amp settings, he played like himself, and suddenly sounded LIKE himself again. ANYway, this vid made my heart happy. At least on UA-cam, I love the Mark series Boogies. And Ola, you played out of your frickin' skin this time!
Damn! Those are really nice sounding lead and clean tones. Watching/ listening to you play is inspiring. I go through phases where I get bored of playing and think "man, I should just sell all my gear" then after watching a video of yours I wanna sit down and play. But right now I can't because it's 5 a.m and I don't have headphones 🤘
Sick. I got the Mesa Boogie rectifier 50 W head badlander last month and it changed my life!!!! Got me a little pedal train board and I must say I love it. Previously I was playing on a black star and wow what a huge difference the mesa boogie sounds with so much fullness And goodness holy shit I love it. And that’s playing the head on the black star 2x12s I just ordered the big mesa boogie 4x12 cab and I think my life is about to change forever.
man alive that tone for the Silent Man solo was spot on exact as close as i can imagine... dammit i need one of these amps in my life... and a petrucci guitar wouldn't hurt either
Appreciated the ode to Petrucci. Thinking of selling all of my other amps because of the JP2C. I love mine and all others are sadly now collecting dust.
If I wasnt watching Ola play those sick JP riffs, I would have thought it was JP playing himself. Also, defiantly one of my bucket list amps . I just have a MarkV currently.
I have seen the thumbnail of this video and I said "finally" and then the opening melody is Erotomania witch is my song to go to just "show off" ... love it!!! hope "WILL IT CHUG" gonna next!!
The Mesa Mark series is one of the best of all time. They might be the hardest amp to play since they are unforgiven and so tight. They make your guitar shine, your skills or your mistakes ;)
I can really see major improvement in your lead playing since I started watching your videos. Awesome work dude. I really need to get a good guitar teacher.
At first i thought it would be a great sounding amp.. but soon after the first demos you played I thought this is the best sounding amp in the world for metal
Haha... forgot about those classic Petrucci Psycho Exercises videos haha.... "And this guitar was painted for me by Michael Angelo... no not the guitar noob.." haha..
I used to practice 63 hours a day, by going back in time, i would play so fast that i was allowed to go back in time, but i stopped doing that because i would usually kill mankind in the process by imploding the earth and destroying mankind as we know it, its not really good for album sales if no one is around to buy them...
Dude you played Live Scenes From New York's version of Erotomania, I absolutely dig it, as it was good ol' times in their career... Of course with The Mike on drums.
Finally got to try out my JP2C! It's fucken sick
From live stream to the new video and back!
Been waiting for this review. Thanks for all the DT examples Ola, you rock.
It makes my heart happy when I see someone having a great time playing guitar. Impressive variety of tones and capabilities, great to see Ola smile and throw some stank faces...! Looking forward to the day I can procure one...! Rock on!
Fucken expensive, too. But you make a compelling argument in the video that justifies the price.
Tempted.

Its nice to witness the whole spectrum of Ola's playing and not just the chugs
Don't be ridiculous
No it isn't
And then it’s nice to listen to some chugs
Dude can play!
@@ProphetNikoz yep.
I´ve never seen Ola this happy testing shit out before. That´s gotta be the best review ever. Absolute killer sound.
“All of Ola’s tones sound the same.”
Dials in a tone that sounds remarkably close to Petrucci’s.
Maybe JP sounds like Ola? think about it...
True, but in the playthrough it still sounds like himself. Magic in his picking.
Plus he's playing a Petrucci signature guitar, gets you there even closer. Didn't know Ola could play any DT riffs. Brilliant !
All of Ola's tones sound the same because that's his tone. That's you know it's him. Not a bad thing at all.
@@rickleblanc8900 He's got some cool covers going back. Lines in the sand and Overture 1928
Sweet amp. Looks classy. Sounds so smooth.
PS your Erotomania solo at the beginning sounds like John the man is playing it himself , good work.
if you ask me, it sounds better than what JP plays...
@@tuuresuomalainen9388 really ?!
@@rickleblanc8900 I'm digging Ola's nuances far more than what Petrucci has on the album. Just a personal preference thing

The smile in ola's face as he plays this set up just tells all
The perfect combo for a beginner guitarist.

one of the best tones you've gotten out of amp on this channel imo
And to think, Ola was worried about his cover of the Dream Theater material in this video. Dude, Ola! You crushed it man!
This video needs to be longer Ola. We want the 7 and 8 string riffing/chugging too. This amp is a modern metal monster.
I've just noticed that the name of the amp is basically John's name...just read it...JP2C...John PiTwoCi
Alright I'm sorry for this waste of time, bye!
SICK VIDEO OLA!
I didn't pick up on that. Thank you
I didn't realize that either. Now I can't unsee it. Thanks for that
Plain as the nose on yer face...........now !
Great catch! @Jack
Seriously nobody have thought about that before I did? Maaaan this is crazy cryptic stuff!
Fantastic tones as always. You went so close to John's tones and great to see that side of your playing!

Over a year and still stoked to have one! Best sounding amp I've ever had!
Just wanna say thank you Ola for all these reviews and product tests, really helps us when we choose gears
Killer! I’ve been waiting for this video from you forever. This is arguably my favorite Mesa boogie amp ever made!
Best amp I’ve ever owned, does it all and does it great!
Hell yes with the Erotomania intro!! Awake is by far my favorite DT album.
Ola's smile when he's riffing out after engaging the Shred mode says it all. Killer amp and great demo.
Been watching you for years Ola, I'm blown away by how much you've grown as a musician.

Petrucci's gear - is the best! I've been waiting for this video science coffee with John. It's just brilliant!
The intro is the best Ola's playing I have heard. It was very sweet. Cheers from Nicaragua : )
Ola soloing in a major scale in the intro, that was unexpected and sounded gorgeous!
Yes!! Man, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this for a while now. Makes sense it’s taken awhile since the amp was faulty.
Sounds killer now!

Maybe for next year’s Coffee with Ola??
Nah

It's refreshing to see a guitarist actually excited for a new amp day. It shows in your playing man. Fuck yeah

Your playing is kickass, bro. And CJ Grimmark has been praising this head too so I'm drooling bucketloads right now.
Petrucci riffs and solos are the best. Nice demo Ola!
