@@rinkydinky-ob9pebecause one single summer job would have allow any kid to get one in the 90's like Ola said for him in this video ? Because currently you have a QC for a summer job but you need 3 years of summer jobs for any kids to get one DR ?
I think the fact that you flew home from tour to OLA HQ to make this video then flew back to the tour is just amazing, I should add that I am only capable of perceiving time linearly
Hell yeah dude. Sounds great. Been like 15 years since I plugged into a 50w Rectoverb and a greenback Egnater 412 cab and LOVED the vintage orange mode on that thing. The Knuckles pedal was the only other non-modeling recto circuit I’ve played through since and I liked it way more than I thought I would.
Its nice hearing an amp on its own these days. Especially as someone who plays a more sludgy and punk kind of music, sometimes a boosted amp is too "clean"
@adam2178 depends on the drive, as I've learned with my mini rectifier head, they can be particularly picky about what is in front. I've found the EQD plumes to work really nicely on the clean boost setting, and with my 10 band EQ in the loop, it sounds pretty huge just running through a 1x12 V30 cab!
You should do a side by side with your Tremoverb and this to see how close they are. I know the Trems are a little unique even from the regular duals, but on reissues, I like to know how faithful they remained.
Just can't beat the noise a rectifier makes , i just got the mini to record with and its unbelievable the amount of balls that thing has in c standard, sounds amazing.
I was considering that amp. I just play in my bedroom. I a lot of tube amp head no bigger than 50 watts. I never played a recto. I have the helix and fractal as well . I never use them. I like real amps and cabs. So what is your thought on the mini.
@@jconner3891- I've had the mini for 12 years and I haven't been able to find a better "at home" amp. I absolutely love it, both the clean and dirty channel. I love boosting the dirty channel with a TS9 and using low output pickups (Burstbucker 2 & 3). Heavy and punchy!!
I'd say even with Gibson's reputation this thing is gonna sell like crazy! I'm not usually a Rectifier guy but now I totally understand these! The only thing I can afford is probably a Neural DSP plugin of this amp, let's hope they make one because haven't seen many Rev F and Rev G plugins out there :)
Guessing it must not be in any stores just yet because can't see it online for sale anywhere so far. Sounds awesome as one would expect. King of high gain. Very cool that they have reissued. 🙌
Most likely sold out, I ordered one like 12 hours ago from an online Canadian distributor and it’s supposed to be here in a couple days and is already in Canada.
Man, I'm listening to your words, what you bought with 15 yr old, that's great! I had to do several summers in those years to be able to buy something like that 😅
Ola, I was just visiting friends in Österlen! But hey, I am surprised that you still haven't demoed a 90's Mesa Road-ready halfback cabinet.... you know, the one's that are built into the road casing. I still have my mid 90's Rackmount Recto with the Mesa Roadready half-back cab. BBE Sonic Maximizer in the FX loop is all you need. Glad to see this reissue! Thanks for the video!
This was my first guitar amp as well. I love how it looks but I never vibed with it. Still, it's so COOL to see an amazing piece of history being rereleased!
Definitely a reason why I've had my Dual Rec for about 20 years now. I love all the gear that's out there to play with, but the Mesa Dual Rec is just, like you said, home.
As usual spot on review, great tones (compare your tones to the official Mesa site - add video.. ), easy to understand. I just have one wish because its 2025: a 25 Watts or 50 watts switch. thanks. (already running from comments)
Fires Randall smith, blacklists fluff, makes a PR nightmare. But gives us the amp we’ve been asking for. Hard to really quantify how well Gibson is handling mesa.
You're making me miss mine. In 2007 I pawned it for some cash, got too far behind on the loan repayment, so I sold it on eBay and used the money to get it out of hoc and ship it. I figured, if I was going to lose it, I wasn't going to lose it to a gd pawn shop!
All right, Ola did the video everybody else can just not put theirs up because no one cares. This is the only one that matters. And I'm so glad he didn't pull out some fly-by-night overdrive to promote some company that he probably gets free stuff from he pulled out the only overdrive you ever need for a rectifier.
I saved up all of my Grocery store job money and bought my Mesa Dual Rectifier Roadster back in 2011. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Still have it, Still Love it. My JP-2C is a close second.
I've been more and more drawn to the Mesa Boogie sound recently. It has this brutal quality that even amps like 5150 and Marshalls lack, nasal and aggressive but without being too harsh.

Never owned one, but one of the issues Kyle Bull highlighted regarding his love/hate discovery is their unit-to-unit inconsistency (good ones are great, bad ones are bad). I wonder if Gibson has isolated this in the build process and made a (more) consistent product.
Gibson: Okay Randall, having invested $100500 into R&D we've finally figured out that very C1234 capacitor you've been pulling out of the circuits at random in order to make fun of the bedroom guitarist fanbois crowd. You're fired! Smith: But it wasn't me, it was Marshall. John: That's how you make Kirk choose Randall. Hammett: Ever heard of that guy called Fractal?

Yep. Or get 3 or 4 Fractal Ax8's for the same price. lol
