AAI is proud to present New Assyria, a culturally historic music and dance performance that showcases the Assyrian heritage through the universal language of arts. For Assyrians throughout history, music and dance have been used to express traditional values and virtues as this concert stands for peace and hope for the future.
On September 12, 2023, some of the most acclaimed Assyrian artists from around the world performed at the University of Salamanca in Spain to create public awareness for Assyrian traditions as they have endured throughout the generations. New Assyria starts with the majestic Oud, which is an ancient Assyrian instrument, expertly performed in the hands of today’s world renowned musician Omar Bashir. The concert then continues with the mesmerizing Assyrian Raweh from the medieval times and soulful modern Assyrian songs as the goddess Ishtar dances to the backdrop of Assyrian village life.
