When he first got announced, I was confused as to why Hasbro would bring him out at the same time as 86, the missing link, and the one toys. But now that I've seen some reviews on it, I understand it's place now
40th Anniversary. Year of Optimus Prime. There's also the reissue of the Power of the Primes Optimus Prime, and apparently SS102 RotB Optimus Prime is gettin' reissued (but that one won't make the festivities, coming in 2025), there's Takara's TFOne Brave Commander Optimus Prime (which is close to ol' skool Leader class size), etc.
It is missing link for people on a budget. Sweet. Hope I can find him in my Walmart or target Also I learned this prime scales beautifully with core class figures!
Got lucky and found one last week. I added some extra paint details that I think look pretty good. I might throw out a quick video of it when I get a chance!
While I love G1/Missing Link, I like that they did his proportions slightly different so it doesn't look like he has really long legs and even longer arms :D
Honestly he has kinda convinced me to get the missing link, not because he is bad, but because he isn't quite what I wanted. I wanted an updated version of the original toy with the same kibble and transformation, but with modern posability, which is what the ml is, but this one is more of a generations figure based on the look of the original toy which you can see in things like how his head isn't on a plate, his hands are missing the cylinder (which the ml is also missing), he has the wrong gun, and he is missing the hole through his torso and the kibble on the back of his arms.
I still have the Optimus Prime mom and dad gifted me for Christmas 1985!!! I have the box. Only the hose and nozzle are missing, everything else is complete.
@@Shiny_Mew151 Thanks, I don’t know how I did it, but he still has the fist. I held onto the Milleneum Falcon H Remote for a long time, but alas it is long gone now…
My copy of this mofo just arrived today from Walmart (2024Oct29), they had to ship from Arizona cuz NO LOCATIONS around me in DC/MD/VA had it, according to the app...sure, it's got issues (right arm refuses to tab into place in truck mode, I may clip the tab off and fake it/force it...and the plastic really doesn't feel the best), but I actually enjoy it. He's a fun lil' figure. Tempted to get the Missinglink, but I'm tryna get SS86-31 Optimus as well as the MPG9 Super Ginrai & MPG14 Godbomber later on. And for some really wild laughs, all these trailer options folks talk about? Another option: the trailer from SS44 DotM Jetwing Optimus Prime. It's tiny enough that it looks great with this mofo. And hilariously enough, the weapons platform mode also looks pretty sick with this bad boy in robot mode.
I had this on pre-order, but when I noticed one glaring flaw, I decided to wait for it in-store. That one flaw is the windows jutting out slightly over the front of the alt mode. This is something that the original didn't do, I don't see why it's necessary from an engineering point of view, and it compromises an otherwise perfect alt mode. That being said, I will pick it up if I find it. And if a 3P company ever makes an OS KO at VOY or even LDR size, I'll be all over those.
I understand why the headband was done (it's for the eyes) but it pretty much kills this for me. I couldn't look at the figure and not see that. Too bad otherwise since it seems like a nice cheaper alternative to the missing link Optimus.
dude, you need to revoke some points off your collector card for not knowing that the "headband" was for light piping. Goes back at least as far as old Super Powers figures, maybe much further for all I know. SMH
I really wish that the collecting community was stop bowing down at the altar of Hasbro. It is obvious that all they care about is getting your money but not about making good quality items for us to purchase. And it would be really helpful if content creators such as yourself with actually stop helping them and maybe push people towards better made third-party products!
@@Lari-se2sh Yes they can and people can say what they want too which I did. If I like someone's reviews I could be disappointed. And like I said it's sad to see these reviewers bowing at the altar of Hasbro when there are companies making way better transforms. We already know who the Transformers are they don't have to have names on the boxes
@@BeerusTVDB If you don't like it, don't buy it. Are *you* bowing to the altar of 3rd party toys? ...you come off pretty hyperbolic here. Part of the issue here is that there are too many Transformers lines to keep up with. Can you tell me a better version of this figure that costs the same or less? Real question, because the vast majority of 3rd party transformers I stumble across, are *much* more expensive. And many aren't even very good.
@@LastBastian I'm definitely not going to buy it I don't support Hasbro. I'm just tired of seeing my fellow toy collectors waste their money on cheap garbage. @@BeerusTVDB Of course you're allowed to say that. But do you not understand that Hasbro's products are much easier to obtain, and are generally more affordable? Again, I ask honestly: Is there a better version of this available for the same price? If so, I have no idea about it, as it's difficult to keep track of 3p figs. And the ones I do see, are quite expensive. Some that I have purchased, end up being pretty disappointing in quality.

What’s the reason? I thought it was for a demand filling of people who want a cheaper missing link.

Really enjoy this figure. The proportions in robot mode are an improvement on the original and the cab mode looks as good as ever.
Hi dude! Glad i found this channel its totally my vibe
I needed this vid, i want him but want to know if he’s too short! Thankyu
Welcome aboard! Glad you like it. Hope you find lots of fun videos here.

Unless I'm mistaken the smokestacks were shown in his hands as weapons in promo pix. Great review! Cheers!
Great review as always Captain Kyle!! The back of this Optimus in bot mode totally reminds me of the SS Bumblebee Soundwave’s back.

Definitely getting this Optimus Prime! It'll be a pretty fun desk bot! 😄
Picked this guy up last week. So cool to have a little prime next to my core class and SS 86.

The yellow headband is for light piping
It doesn't seem translucent. Maybe I will have to shine a light on it.
Yes I did and it is a very good illumination
I figured it had to be for that. If the eyes were blue it might be more well hidden. Maybe it's in the works for a different version in the future.
Some figures have painted and non painted eyes
@@ToySpotlite The light from your cellphone will do it.
the yellow at the top of the head is lightpiping it makes the eyes glow
Picked up a ko of prime that contained the two blasters and the alternative fists
He’s a tiny thing my Missus said. “I hope you’re talking about the toy babe?” Of course she said.

Like this OP a good deal. Just think blue eyes would have been better than yellow.
I hope they make it the same size as G1 Optimus. I think this one has a better design than missing link.
Did you watch the video?
@@ToySpotliteYes. I know it's only deluxe class. I just hope maybe one day Hasbro will make a bigger version.
the headband if for light refraction into his yellow eyes im guessing.
Cant wait to get this guy🎉❤
3:12 *G1 Prime figure STILL looks Good!* As for this New figure? He's Cool but.... tiny.
He's very small. But he'd be a good size for a combiner? Hell even a Titan.
Definitely a good size for a combiner. I prefer the Dr. Wu version for Titans.
@@ShaneSkaalerud-nk2jk
I want a Titan Optimus Prime!
Two words for ya, light piping
Oh maybe I can use that axe on my G1?
The remake of the perfect toy
I have the Missing Link (toy version), so this budget Missing Link is an easy pass.

Though you could get a blue paint pen and color over it...
The paper that is raped around the blasters and the ax. Its perfect for a decals.
So many prime I cant get

In my defense, the yellow did not look translucent. Usually the light piping is more obvious.
Original Optimus is 6 and a half inches. Megatron is 7 due to his big forehead.
Return It !!
"I am Optimus Prime "toy falls down because it's crap lol
