Well, the "um actually" crowd is out in force today so I guess I have to pin this. Yes, there was a character named "Bulkhead" in "Transformers: Energon." He's a completely different character who has nothing to do with TFA Bulkhead, who was designed - as described in the video - as his own entity from the ground up.
I find this ironic considering most people probably only know about Energon bulkhead that time you brought him up in one of your videos. I had the toy and I didn't remember bulkhead from Energon.
My daughter was tiny when TF: A started, and it was my first real chance to share Transformers with her. She fell instantly in love with the series and its characters and we'd spend hours watching the show, drawing pictures of the cast and playing with the Bumper Battler toys. Bulkhead was her immediate favourite, I'd eventually figure out it was because he was original to "her" show rather than being a carry-over from "Daddy's Transformers". Two years ago, she and I were in Japan on holiday and we found the Tamara version of Optimus Prime in a collectibles store, MISB. To my utter delight she bought it immediately, with the sort of excitement and reverence we'd show a MISB G1 Optimus, and has made it the centrepiece of her collection. So as much as I love TF: A on its own merits, the major reason I adore it is because I got to share it with my daughter.

The best kinds of stories are the ones that are cherished by both parent and child. Honestly, Transformers Animated is up there with Avatar: The Last Airbender.
i mean, final episode had starscream, cosmically powered by the allspark, having that chunk extracted from him, thus causing the resolution and ending of the episode and the show...ergo...yes, the show was offlined by a cosmically powered starscream.
I came to watch this again after hearing the news. R.I.P. Derrick J. Wyatt. Animated was a breath of fresh air and ideas. The stylized character designs, the post war setting, the focus on characters, Animated brought in many new fans and rekindled a love for Transformers in others (me being one of them). My thoughts are with his family and friends, thank you for everything.
Hey @IAmEvilTree I heard about that too when I was looking up something on my phone and I told my parents about it, I've always watched Transformers Animated in memory of Derek J Wyatt because of all the character designs he did for the series, and one of these days if I get lucky I'm going to track down some of the animated merchandise that was left over.

We would have gotten prime, and we probably would have gotten a better version of it, if the writers and animators had had more time to think about character progression and animating backgrounds.
Really hoping this show gets the Clone Wars/Young Justice treatment of being brought back to wrap up the show and story properly. I know it's probably not as big as either of those but it's just as if not more important to me.
@@Cashmoneez it had a decent enough ending yeah, but there were a lot of dangling ploy threads that they had plans for, and the ending did always feel a little quick to me.
My greastest memory of Trandformers Animated came when Omega Supreme first came online. We were at my Aunts house in Houston when my dad, (who was a transformers fan) heard the ship boot up and his eyes lit up. Me and him both knew that the ship was Omega when the voice spoke. We lost my Aunt in 2017 and this is one of my greastest memories at her house
It's funny. I can remember the hate for this back when it was announced being as hyperbole as it was towards shows like Beast Wars, especially since people were really harsh towards in the design aesthetic of this series. But when you see how their toys look and how accurate they are to the show and how their lines work and the rest of it, that's really a good sign that this series is in the right track with it's design idea. As for the show itself it really set the bar high on what a Transformers show can be with really good writing and characterisation, but it's a shame that this series was cancelled at the height of it's popularity because it really looked like it was building up to what would have been a big curtain call had we seen it. Now it only remains a dream, but we were lucky to get this at the right time despite all the unanswered questions that were left hanging around in the air. As always Chris, great stuff.
I was definitely part of the hate at first but it really grew on me. The story is what kept me going of everything that’s been going on in the series and when they dropped the bomb on Sari I really wanted to know how she came into Sundac corp.
I was in that camp. I didn't like the stylized look. I had to force myself to sit through a few episodes years later. Definitely one of my favorite depictions of Starscream.

The finale made me cry as hell, especially Prowl's sacrifice and the ending celebration. R.I.P. Transformers Animated, you might have ended, but your legacy will still live on for generations as one of the best Transformers shows ever.
Making the Decepticons larger, stronger, and more well armed than Autobots, is something more Transformers series should do. It makes them more threatening, the victories of the Autobots more meaningful, and shows the difference between the two factions. Unlike say… Cyberverse, where an entire SQUAD of Seekers cant take down one autobot.
The real is trick is making them more competent. TF: Prime Decepticons were pretty well armed too but they get asses kicked hilariously by 5 bots and 3 little kids.
It also helps to have the Autobots face threats other than the Decepticons every episode, for much the same reasons as making them larger and better armed. As well armed as Animated's Decepticons may have been, they would've quickly stopped being threatening if the Autobots beat them in every episode. The Decepticons being actually competent also helps.
It also lad them look SO MUCH more Fretening when they toverd over The Autobots and they were ALL Powerfull even Starscreme. He took down Ultra Magnus with ONE SHOT in the Episode Mission Acomplished. Sure it wa a suprise hit but it still trough Magnus of his Feet and he needed Help from Ratchet and Sari. Also even Together the Autobots didnt stood a Chance against Starscreme when he first appeard and they only won because of the All Spark. That also made Megatron even MORE Dangerous when he killed Starscreme with ONE ATTACK!
Fun Fact: After TFA wrapped up at the end of Season 3, Derrick J. Wyatt would continue working for Cartoon Network, becoming the lead writer and artist for another show, Ben 10: Omniverse, which explains why Omniverse and TFA have such similar art styles.

@@matthewwilliams8267 Non-Organic lifeforms are able to be scanned into the omnitrix as well. Upgrade, Nanomech and Clockwork are all mechanical/robotic lifeforms. It's also been seen that Cybertronians have an equivalent to genetic code, so Tennyson being able to scan in a Cybertronian isn't too far fetched to me at least. In terms of Alt-Modes it'd have to be a car or motorcycle, something fast and lightweight.

"Animated" is right up there with "Beast Wars" and "Prime" as one of my favorite Transformers series. While I'll admit some of the animation was a bit inconsistent and I didn't care for most of the human villains (excluding Meltdown and maybe Headmaster), it still had creative new takes on beloved characters, likable new characters, an intriguing story, plenty of great action, and amazing references to preceding Transformers media without having it overshadow the overall show. I'll also admit I like the show's art style, partly because it gives the show a 'lean, mean, fighting machine' look to it, and also because I've had a soft spot for Derrick Wyatt's overall art style after seeing the 2003 "Teen Titans" cartoon. I still wish we had a fourth season, since there were a few plot points that needed some closure, like the rest of Sari's origins and the whereabouts of Blackarachnia and Waspinator. However, given how Season 3 ended, it at least went out on a high note. My favorite characters in this incarnation have to be Optimus, Prowl, Grimlock, Sari, Meltdown, Blitzwing, and Starscream.

I try to watch every show and find the good aspects. At least BW is getting a new toyline as well. It's a pretty good time to be a tf fan

TFA was definitely a surprise to me from just how much love and respect it gave the world of Transformers. I even loved that they got Weird Al Yankovic to play Wrek Gar because dare to be stupid was used during the original 80s movie.
Yeah, stuff like that, and the fact that the crazy designs could actually be made into toys really brought me around on it. I definitely judged it to quickly when I saw the first promo images
Transformers Animated is one of my favorites. It’s the first ever transformers show I ever watched. But I was heartbroken when it got canceled...but hey at least we had prime after that. So that’s definitely a plus
Isn't Siege a pretty good toyline? I heard that they have ramped up the quality on the Siege toyline, especially when you compare them to other toylines from the recent past.
This show was my introduction to Transformers. It's pretty much what I automatically think of when I hear "Transformers" and it's the baseline to which I compare all following Transformers media.
After the movie Bumblebee rekindled my nostalgia this is the first animated TF series I watched (the last I remember watching before is Beast Wars in the 90s) and it's still the one I like best, I really want at least an IDW miniseries to wrap it up.

I find it amusing that the role of Optimus Prime in "Animated" was given to voice actor David Kaye, best known for his work for incarnations of Megatron from "Beast Wars" to "Cybertron." Quite ironic... yeeeeeeeeeessssss...
It's a shame that Animated didn't get its fourth season, but at the same time, that led to Transformers Prime, which is actually my favorite TF series despite its flaws. On DeviantArt, I've actually been doing Animated designs of various characters, including Primus, even though I know Derrick J. Wyatt doesn't like the character, but I do.
@@carbootstudios2459 There were great ideas for TFP (Cybertron setting for Season 3 and pirates for season 4), that were unfortunately scrapped because the show went overbudget (which brought us half a season). This derailed even a crossover with most of Hasbro's forgotten properties, including Jem and M.A.S.K. (IDW eventually picked the idea with Revolution).
Ah Animated, my first TF show and entry into this whole franchise. The Basics got me knee deep into everything but Animated is where it all started for me. For something that was so reviled when it first came out, I'm glad it's vindicated to become a top contender for the best TF show aside from Beast Wars and Prime. Damn crying shame it was cut down when it finally found its stride, but the love it's gotten with the likes of the Allspark Almanac and other expanded stuff is amazing. Glad to see Animated get its time in the Basics!
TFA deserves that season 4, this was the show that got me deep into transformers, had me googling things and looking for characters, and is actually how I ended up on this channel lol.
If the basics has proven anything, its that characters, ideas, or even entire series and stories can be valued and remembered for years to come, with the right people, of course.
I was 7 yrs old when I was introduced to TF Animated and 12 yrs later it is still my favorite TF series. The series finale was the first time I had ever cried over a character death.
I loved the series so much, this was my first series I watch from beginning to end after falling in love with Transformers after watching the 2007 movie. This series has my favorite versions of Optimus and Megatron with the following series, Prime, coming in a close second. Bumblebee is at his funniest in this series, in my opinion. Sari is one of the best human characters the Transformers series, as a whole, has ever offered. The death of Prowl at the end of the series personally affected me as a child so much so it has stuck with me to this day. I loved animated with all my heart and I would pay good money to have even an one hour TV movie just to wrap up those loose ends at the end of the series. But if that never happens and all we get is the occasional wink from other series that will come in the future I’m just happy knowing how much love and respect this series received from fans and creators alike.
I remember occasionally catching Animated on Tv while it was airing and only thinking it was "okay". It was until I watched the show after it ended that I truly fell in love with it. Animated is a love letter to long time fans, sprinkled throughout with numerous references to past series, like when Swindle briefly mentions the Quintesson and Vok in passing.
The one thing I love about this series is that it’s had the BALLS to make Optimus Prime an underdog type of character rather then a Stoic and wise Leader. We’ll never see that type of risk with the the Character again sadly.
I'd be happy if more shows at least worked in the cool, if a bit dorky at times, dad-like side of Optimus from the first two seasons of G1 that made him so beloved in the first place. I'd argue that despite the number of ways Animated OP differed from the character's usual portrayal he was kinda the last version of him that captured a bit of that side of Optimus, even if it was through the lense of a younger version of him. About the same time we had the Bayverse which felt like they only looked at the Autobot City battle scene from the 86 movie to base his character on, and then we had the Aligned mythos which leaned far more into the stoic military commander characterization as well as arguably being the version of Optimus that best fits the old "Space Robot Jesus" meme.
I loved all the little nods to the original series like Spike and Carly from the original third season. I also liked how it fleshed out life on Cybertron more than any prior series. For instance the Autobot Academy, the ranks (Minor, Major, Prime, Magnus), the old war itself, etc. It was meant to be watched by two generations of fans, kids and their parents who loved them when they were young.
My dad brought me into the world of Transformers via TF Animated. Man, I can remember just wanting to watch the damn episodes during weekend mornings as they aired here in my country. I wasn't even allowed to get a TF figure as a kid. So, lo and behold, Dad gifted me the Takara Optimus Prime about six years later - and from then on, our shared collection keeps expanding. We got FortMax about a month or so ago, but I'm always on the lookout for the Animated figurines because they hold a special place in my heart. As a kid back then who had no idea of what the original bots looked and acted like in G1, seeing TFA (and the Bayverse films) was something that always pulled me in - and when I asked my Dad how he felt back then towards G1, he said it was the exact same feeling.
I think he's more likely to do a basics on Aligned continuity than Prime itself. He did the basics on Beast Era rather than BW itself. Same with Unicron Trilogy and the G1 Japanese shows. He didn't focus on a certain show itself. The only reason he did the basics on RID 2001 and Animated because their entire timelines is mostly composed of their television shows. But for all we know, he may surprised us with doing basics on TF:Prime.
when i wanted to re-watch Transformers animated for the first time in 10 years, automatically the theme song triggered so many innocent, nostalgic memories of when i was a child with the means of transformers as my escape. i shed a tear man, transformers will always have a big place in my heart
It was really sad we never got a season 4. It looked like they had some interesting ideas, especially with the introduction of a shattered glass plotline. Still, I'm glad we still had a satisfying conclusion, instead of the show just stopping without an ending.
Transformers Animated is perhaps the greatest thing to come out of this entire franchise. The intricate storylines and constant continuity between episodes and character arcs influenced so much of how I view and prefer storytelling. I wish Hasbro would treat this show better, because there IS a dedicated audience clamoring for a revival, and of all the programming Hasbro has put out, none are more deserving than Animated to be given the limelight. Thank you, to Wyatt, Isenberg and Youngberg, for all of the hard work, passion and dedication that you poured into this amazing series.
I still wonder how that protoform got into Issac's lab. My best guess is a little disturbing, with her being Megatron's daughter. The only way I can think of is that she was produced by some part of him that happened to be in the lab at the time. Either Issac happened upon her before she could fully develop or Megatron was too badly damaged to produce a full size protoform. I know in some continuities cybertronians can asexually reproduce by expelling something like a protoform from their bodies.
I remember that when i first saw Animated, i did not like it. Not because of the artstyle, but because how different it was from everything before. Ironically, i now love this show for the same reason. I wish that we had more youthful and inexperienced Optimus Primes.
Im proud when my friend's kid come to my place and recognise the characters by name. In Malaysia, the TFA is almost rerun in every year in tv. Kids aged 10 belows knows the characters.

yeah, when I first saw the artstyle, I was like "wow, that's dumb." But I ended up liking its departure from the normal routine, and the characters were really lovable.
Definitely one of my favourite Tf cartoons. I was slightly put off to begin with as I got used to the aligned continuity, but as soon as I watched the first episode I was hooked. Since then I’ve watched it three times, that’s a lot of times
Am I the only one who noticed that this show wasn’t scared to use some PG body horror now and then? Elita-One’s mutation, Obsidian Black’s flesh melting, Blurr being crushed to death onscreen, heck, even Waspinator’s change to an extent.
Animated was such a breath of fresh air. Also the entire toyline was amazing and some of the figures reach horrendous prices now and became collector items.
I remember when I was a kid I would set up all my movie transformer toys and ones from other series sitting down right next to me whenever a new episode would air. That’s how excited I was about Animated.
TF Animated features the 'designer toys' of the entire Transformers franchise! [I still display them (in their various scales) to this very day (2019).] Honestly, they just don't make 'em like they used to anymore... This video is absolutely essential in time-capsuling one of the greatest subcultures within the Transformers multiverse! Great job - it's as AWESOME as 'Processor over Matter'!!!
I only watched the Se1 premiere and I have it on disc. It truly left a mark on my mind, as it was *really cool* to little 6 year old me to see how big Megatron was and how the characters worked. I think I had a Lugnut toy that pretty well shattered when I dropped it and I had the severed arm of Longarm, ironically.
As a long time Transformers fan going all the way back to G1 Transformers: Animated was, hands down, the best entry in the franchise. Well written, well animated, engaging and with something for new and old fans alike it hit the exact right tone and style that made the Transformers live up to the potential they always had but sometimes never used. It really is a crime we didn't get more seasons.
Transformers Animated was my first exposure to the franchise being a 2000s kid. I was surprised when by other incarnations of my fav Bee with how different they are in personity. I love both versions, but Animated will always be my definitive Bee. Also, this probably has the best Transformers designs with them being so sleek, not near as stiff or bulky as other incarnations, especially with Bee being smol.
Man, i absolutely love this channel i somehow stumbled onto it a few days ago and watched like 2 videos than instantly followed. Its so interesting and informative i never knew there was soooooo much to transformers like this. Like i really dont know much about them i collected some figures as a kid and loved to play with them. And i also watched most of beast wars and some of this series being shown here other than that and the few figures i had as a kid its all i knew about them. Now im so interested in them again. thanks keep up the amazing content
TFA came out at just the right time for me to really indulge buying the toys I wanted in my youth. I bought a LOT of the toyline and even got some friends to watch Animated as their first TF cartoon; I eventually handed off my 24 or so different toys to my 6-year-old nephew as one massive X-mas present. One thing I recall is that the Japanese intro clarifies that he's Optimus Prime and NOT Convoy.
Have to admit, I was unsure of T:A when I first saw the announcement, but I always want to give a show a chance beyond its art. It became one of my more beloved Transformers iterations, so I'm glad I have that policy. Just wish the 4th season could've happened, the end of 3rd felt so rushed. The head swapping was hilarious at times, and seeing Starscream with all his (and one her) clones was fantastic
Man, it is so nostalgic to see this video. I remember growing up with Animated and watching it with my dad, falling in love with all the characters and the franchise as a whole. Then my focus shifted onto Star Wars, and for many years I ignored Transformers as a whole. That was until Overly Sarcastic Productions Red recommended Transformers Prime that I fell back into the rabbit hole of Transformers, and I've been watching everything Transformers (except the Bayverse movies) that I could get my hands on.
This is by far the most unique depiction of Transformers IMO. Optimus Prime isn't the old wise badass we know, he's still young and doesn't even have a rivalry with Megatron. Bumblebee wasn't changed much, but he was made the smallest he's ever been. Prowl was fucking great and borderline OP after season 3's middle half. Megatron wasn't nearly as widely feared as he usually is. Shockwave was vastly different and had the most unique role he's ever had. I loved this damn show and I hope it gets rebooted Steven Universe style with a movie and then a new show.
With TFA, I really liked some of the shorts they did, such as the one where Ratchet was fixing Bulkhead, when he finishes he gets asked about the stuff left over, then what Ratchet did was really funny, of course another fav of mine is where Lugnut is making a swimming pool!

I never got into Animated but, while browsing toy shelves, I was impressed at how well that extremely caricatured aesthetic was translated into working plastic.

The stylized character designs, the post war setting, the focus on characters, Animated brought in many new fans and rekindled a love for Transformers in others (me being one of them). My thoughts are with his family and friends, thank you for everything.
Hey @IAmEvilTree I heard about that too when I was looking up something on my phone and I told my parents about it, I've always watched Transformers Animated in memory of Derek J Wyatt because of all the character designs he did for the series, and one of these days if I get lucky I'm going to track down some of the animated merchandise that was left over.

A funny thing to note is that Spongebob and Patrick's voice actors both had roles in the show as Starscream and Bulkhead, respectively.

If I had a nickel for everytime Bill Fagerbakke played a huge and kinda dumb guy with a smaller yellow best friend, I'd have three nickels. Which isn't a lot, but weird that it's happened three times(SpongeBob and Patrick, Broadway and Lexington, and Bumblebee and Bulkhead), right?

Really hoping this show gets the Clone Wars/Young Justice treatment of being brought back to wrap up the show and story properly. I know it's probably not as big as either of those but it's just as if not more important to me.

My mother first saw Animated at this year's TFNation. It just took the ending two-part episode to make her a massive Bulkhead fan.

My greastest memory of Trandformers Animated came when Omega Supreme first came online. We were at my Aunts house in Houston when my dad, (who was a transformers fan) heard the ship boot up and his eyes lit up. Me and him both knew that the ship was Omega when the voice spoke. We lost my Aunt in 2017 and this is one of my greastest memories at her house

I can remember the hate for this back when it was announced being as hyperbole as it was towards shows like Beast Wars, especially since people were really harsh towards in the design aesthetic of this series. But when you see how their toys look and how accurate they are to the show and how their lines work and the rest of it, that's really a good sign that this series is in the right track with it's design idea. As for the show itself it really set the bar high on what a Transformers show can be with really good writing and characterisation, but it's a shame that this series was cancelled at the height of it's popularity because it really looked like it was building up to what would have been a big curtain call had we seen it. Now it only remains a dream, but we were lucky to get this at the right time despite all the unanswered questions that were left hanging around in the air.

I was definitely part of the hate at first but it really grew on me. The story is what kept me going of everything that’s been going on in the series and when they dropped the bomb on Sari I really wanted to know how she came into Sundac corp.
Lucky this show lost its bad rep and is now easily considered one of the best shows in the franchise unlike a certain sequel show (R.I.D).

The finale made me cry as hell, especially Prowl's sacrifice and the ending celebration. R.I.P. Transformers Animated, you might have ended, but your legacy will still live on for generations as one of the best Transformers shows ever.
Making the Decepticons larger, stronger, and more well armed than Autobots, is something more Transformers series should do. It makes them more threatening, the victories of the Autobots more meaningful, and shows the difference between the two factions. Unlike say… Cyberverse, where an entire SQUAD of Seekers cant take down one autobot.
I also like the idea of flight being a foreign concept to the autobots
The real is trick is making them more competent. TF: Prime Decepticons were pretty well armed too but they get asses kicked hilariously by 5 bots and 3 little kids.

It also helps to have the Autobots face threats other than the Decepticons every episode, for much the same reasons as making them larger and better armed. As well armed as Animated's Decepticons may have been, they would've quickly stopped being threatening if the Autobots beat them in every episode.
The Decepticons being actually competent also helps.
It also lad them look SO MUCH more Fretening when they toverd over The Autobots and they were ALL Powerfull even Starscreme. He took down Ultra Magnus with ONE SHOT in the Episode Mission Acomplished. Sure it wa a suprise hit but it still trough Magnus of his Feet and he needed Help from Ratchet and Sari. Also even Together the Autobots didnt stood a Chance against Starscreme when he first appeard and they only won because of the All Spark. That also made Megatron even MORE Dangerous when he killed Starscreme with ONE ATTACK!
Fun Fact: After TFA wrapped up at the end of Season 3, Derrick J. Wyatt would continue working for Cartoon Network, becoming the lead writer and artist for another show, Ben 10: Omniverse, which explains why Omniverse and TFA have such similar art styles.

@@matthewwilliams8267 Non-Organic lifeforms are able to be scanned into the omnitrix as well. Upgrade, Nanomech and Clockwork are all mechanical/robotic lifeforms. It's also been seen that Cybertronians have an equivalent to genetic code, so Tennyson being able to scan in a Cybertronian isn't too far fetched to me at least. In terms of Alt-Modes it'd have to be a car or motorcycle, something fast and lightweight.

"Animated" is right up there with "Beast Wars" and "Prime" as one of my favorite Transformers series. While I'll admit some of the animation was a bit inconsistent and I didn't care for most of the human villains (excluding Meltdown and maybe Headmaster), it still had creative new takes on beloved characters, likable new characters, an intriguing story, plenty of great action, and amazing references to preceding Transformers media without having it overshadow the overall show. I'll also admit I like the show's art style, partly because it gives the show a 'lean, mean, fighting machine' look to it, and also because I've had a soft spot for Derrick Wyatt's overall art style after seeing the 2003 "Teen Titans" cartoon.
I still wish we had a fourth season, since there were a few plot points that needed some closure, like the rest of Sari's origins and the whereabouts of Blackarachnia and Waspinator. However, given how Season 3 ended, it at least went out on a high note.
My favorite characters in this incarnation have to be Optimus, Prowl, Grimlock, Sari, Meltdown, Blitzwing, and Starscream.

TFA was definitely a surprise to me from just how much love and respect it gave the world of Transformers. I even loved that they got Weird Al Yankovic to play Wrek Gar because dare to be stupid was used during the original 80s movie.
Yeah, stuff like that, and the fact that the crazy designs could actually be made into toys really brought me around on it. I definitely judged it to quickly when I saw the first promo images
Transformers Animated is one of my favorites. It’s the first ever transformers show I ever watched. But I was heartbroken when it got canceled...but hey at least we had prime after that. So that’s definitely a plus

Isn't Siege a pretty good toyline? I heard that they have ramped up the quality on the Siege toyline, especially when you compare them to other toylines from the recent past.

This show was my introduction to Transformers. It's pretty much what I automatically think of when I hear "Transformers" and it's the baseline to which I compare all following Transformers media.
After the movie Bumblebee rekindled my nostalgia this is the first animated TF series I watched (the last I remember watching before is Beast Wars in the 90s) and it's still the one I like best, I really want at least an IDW miniseries to wrap it up.
I got around to finally watching TF Animated a few months ago and what a blast! I would heavily recommend this show to be watched, regardless of whether or not you’re a Transformers fan.

I find it amusing that the role of Optimus Prime in "Animated" was given to voice actor David Kaye, best known for his work for incarnations of Megatron from "Beast Wars" to "Cybertron."

Transformers Animated was the very first transformers show I ever watched, so it will forever be the show that roped me into the franchise as a whole.
It's a shame that Animated didn't get its fourth season, but at the same time, that led to Transformers Prime, which is actually my favorite TF series despite its flaws. On DeviantArt, I've actually been doing Animated designs of various characters, including Primus, even though I know Derrick J. Wyatt doesn't like the character, but I do.
Well...TFP still be one of the best TF TV series.(And not be the one of the worse cartoon like TTG.)

@@carbootstudios2459 There were great ideas for TFP (Cybertron setting for Season 3 and pirates for season 4), that were unfortunately scrapped because the show went overbudget (which brought us half a season). This derailed even a crossover with most of Hasbro's forgotten properties, including Jem and M.A.S.K. (IDW eventually picked the idea with Revolution).
Ah Animated, my first TF show and entry into this whole franchise. The Basics got me knee deep into everything but Animated is where it all started for me. For something that was so reviled when it first came out, I'm glad it's vindicated to become a top contender for the best TF show aside from Beast Wars and Prime. Damn crying shame it was cut down when it finally found its stride, but the love it's gotten with the likes of the Allspark Almanac and other expanded stuff is amazing. Glad to see Animated get its time in the Basics!

I was 7 yrs old when I was introduced to TF Animated and 12 yrs later it is still my favorite TF series. The series finale was the first time I had ever cried over a character death.
I loved the series so much, this was my first series I watch from beginning to end after falling in love with Transformers after watching the 2007 movie. This series has my favorite versions of Optimus and Megatron with the following series, Prime, coming in a close second. Bumblebee is at his funniest in this series, in my opinion. Sari is one of the best human characters the Transformers series, as a whole, has ever offered. The death of Prowl at the end of the series personally affected me as a child so much so it has stuck with me to this day. I loved animated with all my heart and I would pay good money to have even an one hour TV movie just to wrap up those loose ends at the end of the series. But if that never happens and all we get is the occasional wink from other series that will come in the future I’m just happy knowing how much love and respect this series received from fans and creators alike.
I remember occasionally catching Animated on Tv while it was airing and only thinking it was "okay". It was until I watched the show after it ended that I truly fell in love with it. Animated is a love letter to long time fans, sprinkled throughout with numerous references to past series, like when Swindle briefly mentions the Quintesson and Vok in passing.
The one thing I love about this series is that it’s had the BALLS to make Optimus Prime an underdog type of character rather then a Stoic and wise Leader. We’ll never see that type of risk with the the Character again sadly.
I'd be happy if more shows at least worked in the cool, if a bit dorky at times, dad-like side of Optimus from the first two seasons of G1 that made him so beloved in the first place. I'd argue that despite the number of ways Animated OP differed from the character's usual portrayal he was kinda the last version of him that captured a bit of that side of Optimus, even if it was through the lense of a younger version of him. About the same time we had the Bayverse which felt like they only looked at the Autobot City battle scene from the 86 movie to base his character on, and then we had the Aligned mythos which leaned far more into the stoic military commander characterization as well as arguably being the version of Optimus that best fits the old "Space Robot Jesus" meme.
I loved all the little nods to the original series like Spike and Carly from the original third season. I also liked how it fleshed out life on Cybertron more than any prior series. For instance the Autobot Academy, the ranks (Minor, Major, Prime, Magnus), the old war itself, etc. It was meant to be watched by two generations of fans, kids and their parents who loved them when they were young.

My dad brought me into the world of Transformers via TF Animated. Man, I can remember just wanting to watch the damn episodes during weekend mornings as they aired here in my country. I wasn't even allowed to get a TF figure as a kid. So, lo and behold, Dad gifted me the Takara Optimus Prime about six years later - and from then on, our shared collection keeps expanding. We got FortMax about a month or so ago, but I'm always on the lookout for the Animated figurines because they hold a special place in my heart.
As a kid back then who had no idea of what the original bots looked and acted like in G1, seeing TFA (and the Bayverse films) was something that always pulled me in - and when I asked my Dad how he felt back then towards G1, he said it was the exact same feeling.

I think he's more likely to do a basics on Aligned continuity than Prime itself. He did the basics on Beast Era rather than BW itself. Same with Unicron Trilogy and the G1 Japanese shows. He didn't focus on a certain show itself.
The only reason he did the basics on RID 2001 and Animated because their entire timelines is mostly composed of their television shows. But for all we know, he may surprised us with doing basics on TF:Prime.

when i wanted to re-watch Transformers animated for the first time in 10 years, automatically the theme song triggered so many innocent, nostalgic memories of when i was a child with the means of transformers as my escape. i shed a tear man, transformers will always have a big place in my heart

It was really sad we never got a season 4. It looked like they had some interesting ideas, especially with the introduction of a shattered glass plotline. Still, I'm glad we still had a satisfying conclusion, instead of the show just stopping without an ending.
Transformers Animated is perhaps the greatest thing to come out of this entire franchise. The intricate storylines and constant continuity between episodes and character arcs influenced so much of how I view and prefer storytelling. I wish Hasbro would treat this show better, because there IS a dedicated audience clamoring for a revival, and of all the programming Hasbro has put out, none are more deserving than Animated to be given the limelight. Thank you, to Wyatt, Isenberg and Youngberg, for all of the hard work, passion and dedication that you poured into this amazing series.
I'm sure this will always be my favourite piece of Transformers media. It's what introduced me into the franchise and it's so unique!

I still wonder how that protoform got into Issac's lab. My best guess is a little disturbing, with her being Megatron's daughter. The only way I can think of is that she was produced by some part of him that happened to be in the lab at the time. Either Issac happened upon her before she could fully develop or Megatron was too badly damaged to produce a full size protoform.
I know in some continuities cybertronians can asexually reproduce by expelling something like a protoform from their bodies.
I remember that when i first saw Animated, i did not like it. Not because of the artstyle, but because how different it was from everything before. Ironically, i now love this show for the same reason.
I wish that we had more youthful and inexperienced Optimus Primes.
Im proud when my friend's kid come to my place and recognise the characters by name. In Malaysia, the TFA is almost rerun in every year in tv. Kids aged 10 belows knows the characters.

Animated was such a breath of fresh air. Also the entire toyline was amazing and some of the figures reach horrendous prices now and became collector items.
I remember when I was a kid I would set up all my movie transformer toys and ones from other series sitting down right next to me whenever a new episode would air. That’s how excited I was about Animated.
TF Animated features the 'designer toys' of the entire Transformers franchise! [I still display them (in their various scales) to this very day (2019).] Honestly, they just don't make 'em like they used to anymore... This video is absolutely essential in time-capsuling one of the greatest subcultures within the Transformers multiverse! Great job - it's as AWESOME as 'Processor over Matter'!!!
I only watched the Se1 premiere and I have it on disc. It truly left a mark on my mind, as it was *really cool* to little 6 year old me to see how big Megatron was and how the characters worked. I think I had a Lugnut toy that pretty well shattered when I dropped it and I had the severed arm of Longarm, ironically.
The Japanese Animated Intro is the best Transformers OP! It’s so gooood.
As a long time Transformers fan going all the way back to G1 Transformers: Animated was, hands down, the best entry in the franchise. Well written, well animated, engaging and with something for new and old fans alike it hit the exact right tone and style that made the Transformers live up to the potential they always had but sometimes never used. It really is a crime we didn't get more seasons.
Transformers Animated was my first exposure to the franchise being a 2000s kid. I was surprised when by other incarnations of my fav Bee with how different they are in personity. I love both versions, but Animated will always be my definitive Bee. Also, this probably has the best Transformers designs with them being so sleek, not near as stiff or bulky as other incarnations, especially with Bee being smol.
Man, i absolutely love this channel i somehow stumbled onto it a few days ago and watched like 2 videos than instantly followed. Its so interesting and informative i never knew there was soooooo much to transformers like this. Like i really dont know much about them i collected some figures as a kid and loved to play with them. And i also watched most of beast wars and some of this series being shown here other than that and the few figures i had as a kid its all i knew about them. Now im so interested in them again. thanks keep up the amazing content

TFA came out at just the right time for me to really indulge buying the toys I wanted in my youth. I bought a LOT of the toyline and even got some friends to watch Animated as their first TF cartoon; I eventually handed off my 24 or so different toys to my 6-year-old nephew as one massive X-mas present.
One thing I recall is that the Japanese intro clarifies that he's Optimus Prime and NOT Convoy.

Have to admit, I was unsure of T:A when I first saw the announcement, but I always want to give a show a chance beyond its art. It became one of my more beloved Transformers iterations, so I'm glad I have that policy. Just wish the 4th season could've happened, the end of 3rd felt so rushed. The head swapping was hilarious at times, and seeing Starscream with all his (and one her) clones was fantastic

Man, it is so nostalgic to see this video. I remember growing up with Animated and watching it with my dad, falling in love with all the characters and the franchise as a whole. Then my focus shifted onto Star Wars, and for many years I ignored Transformers as a whole. That was until Overly Sarcastic Productions Red recommended Transformers Prime that I fell back into the rabbit hole of Transformers, and I've been watching everything Transformers (except the Bayverse movies) that I could get my hands on.

This is by far the most unique depiction of Transformers IMO. Optimus Prime isn't the old wise badass we know, he's still young and doesn't even have a rivalry with Megatron. Bumblebee wasn't changed much, but he was made the smallest he's ever been. Prowl was fucking great and borderline OP after season 3's middle half. Megatron wasn't nearly as widely feared as he usually is. Shockwave was vastly different and had the most unique role he's ever had. I loved this damn show and I hope it gets rebooted Steven Universe style with a movie and then a new show.
Animated is my favorite Transformers show. It was such a cool take on the franchise.

With TFA, I really liked some of the shorts they did, such as the one where Ratchet was fixing Bulkhead, when he finishes he gets asked about the stuff left over, then what Ratchet did was really funny, of course another fav of mine is where Lugnut is making a swimming pool!

Transformers Animated will be always my favorite Transformers series ever. My childhood went with Animated with Ben 10, Kim Possible and more

You should do a dedicated episode on the various incarnations of Devastator and the individual Cons that make him up including the extra constructicon clones in the movies. Also interested in your opinion on the studio series devastator that's been slowly released con by con.
I never got into Animated but, while browsing toy shelves, I was impressed at how well that extremely caricatured aesthetic was translated into working plastic.
This shit got me into this whole series so I am so glad I got here thanks to Animated
