- LIVE COURT CAM: MA v. #KarenRead - DAY 3 - Testimony continues in the murder trial against Karen Read. Read is accused of murdering her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, whose body was found in the snow outside of a fellow Boston officer’s home in Canton, Mass.
Prosecutors have said Read hit O’Keefe with her car and left him to die in the snow.
But Read’s defense team has said she never hurt O’Keefe and that she is being framed by the true killers, who may have been inside the house where the body was found.

This judge is rightly defending the witnesses as they are being treated like liars from the defence attorneys. The poor family of the victim having to watch this behaviour thank god the judge is fighting to keep behaviour under check. She is doing her job as a judge she’s not doing anything wrong here. I don’t see any bias or favouring the prosecutor. She is respectful to the jury and she has questioned the prosecutor on the case hearing last week. These witnesses should not have to be treated the way they are from the defense attorneys. They are being called liars, questioned on every second on the stand. KR thinks she’s an attorney sitting trying to hear on judge/counsel discussions. Back off KR you are surrounded by the family of JOK. You’re laughing at this every time your attorneys sit down from destroying witnesses. Paramedics aren’t police so the far fetched conspiracy theories don’t stretch to them. You’re going to hear that MK had an Apple Watch on & climbed a flight of stairs that night, you’re going to hear about the obvious dog bites on his arm & the Alberts aggressive German Sheppard who had bitten several people in the past. There’s also a library directly across the street from Karen Read with cameras but the video tape from that night is mysteriously missing, video that would’ve showed “ no broken taillight “. You’ll hear about MK, despite being allegedly run over, the only injuries he sustained were 2 black swollen eyes & a laceration to the back of the head
You’ll hear about Brian Alberts 17 yo punk nephew being at the home that night who happens to live next door to MK. They also were having disputes over beer cans being thrown onto MKs property. An Eye witness places a Ford Edge parked exactly where MKs body was found at 3am. Albert, his brother & nephew all drive a Ford Edge. Why did the Alberts get rid of their dog ? Why did they rip up the basement floor ? Just wait until the defense puts on their case….

She also can be heard deeply ‘sighing’ as if the defense is insufferable to deal with.
How about this; First responder said 4 inches of snow but the top of him was 'clear'. If plows are out, it is snowing pretty good but no snow on top of the deceased, so he was not out there for hours. So perhaps, the deceased had an argument inside the house and was leaving. He got one shoe on before someone clocked him. [bent over tying a shoe and takes a boot in the face] At which point, the dog was triggered by the aggression. He is still inside the house for a while as the assailant(s) decide what to do with the body. He was placed on the front yard and then noticing the other shoe, someone tosses it outside. The fact that they 'rehomed' the, German Shepherd, family pet is very suspect...

Also, they ripped up their basement cement before selling their house for $50,000 less! Definitely suspicious!
At what point does the prosecutor feel asking the same questions of every first responder is redundant- like what an IO is - that epinephrine was given, what trauma shears are. It’s ridiculous.
And what cardiac arrest means to them….

Here are some facts of the case for you people still on the fence (no one disputes these):
-Body found over 10 feet from curb with zero taillight glass or anything found in the area during initial reports (only ~1 inch of snow)
-Body not seen by plow truck that did initial run down street at around 2AM (no snow at this time when body would have been there)
-Body had zero torso/mid section injuries and had slashes/cuts on arm and both front and back of head gashes/wounds as well as hand/defense wounds
-Body missing a shoe
-Zero investigation/search of residence at property for evidence or clues
-911 call placed by sister in law of a cop/first responder that LIVED at the property.. YET SHE DIDN't GET HIM/ALERT HIM (or tell 911 this) to perform possible life saving measures/assess what happened
- Pieces of broken taillight were found only “ After” defendant’s vehicle was seized & in possession of LE the following day.
Thank you for stating the facts. As you mentioned, no one has disputed these facts. Sadly, many people do not care about the facts and rather make decisions based on emotions. I hope the jury considers only the facts when deliberating and I hope that the real murderer is convicted so that there is true justice for Officer O'Keefe.

I’m keeping an open mind, but there’s something off the mark about many different aspects of this case
I'm trying to understand how he got those deep gashes on his arm wearing a long sleeved hoody. I would want to see the hoody if I was a juror. To see if it was slashed.
The defense will show it on the hospital floor. After that it was given to the detective who drove the clothes around for a couple weeks. Chain of custody of this evidence is awful.

Ok so if she tells these paramedics I hit him why did nobody write it in any reports or tell anyone at the time? All this came out later. I think these paramedics are scared of the officers they are up against.
Absolutely! They work alongside the police and other departments all the time. Which could affect their careers and personal lives horribly if they go against the PD!
Because that statement cannot be part of their report. The EMS report has to be about their arrival, what they found, patient care, interventions, VS, treatment etc. Now if infact she stated she hit him, He should of definitely asked her follow up questions. Such as what did u hit him with? That is a critical conversation that would have followed to provide the medic with Mechanism of injuries. And what type of injuries he most likely would have sustained. Big difference in injuries sustained with being struck with a hand and or a bat or a 6k lb vehicle!!
And that information would have been included on the report and it would have affected any secondary care enroute and at hospital.
Possible pedestrian vs auto would be on the report verbal to er 'room' staff. We're asking that when the call comes to the er and as we all get to the room to prepare we ask what we're getting.

Why would O'Keefe be standing on the side of the road? He would have started to make his way to the house and would have been hit from behind? She drove for 62 feet and back, and he stands there? Waiting on the side of the road, until she hit him?
If she had not said “could I have hit him?” I wonder what narrative the guilty party could have come up with. Jen McCabe heard that & went with it. It was like a golden ticket had been handed to her. She went right into that house and told the Alberts & it went from there.

This is the weirdest trial I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen witnesses handed reports and be allowed to just read off of them directly versus “refreshing their memory” then actually testifying. Wtf is this.
There were a lot of discrepancy between the EMT's and the Firemen!
I admit, I wouldn’t be able to remember every detail of a code that happened 2 years ago. After awhile they all blur together!
Since John was an officer, I would think more details would have been kept & recorder on the night of the accident.

Being possibly hit by a car is a huge detail that would ALWAYS be told to er staff. It determines where their treatment plan goes. It’s part of the turn over to staff. The blood bank needs the information too. He wasn’t hit by a car, especially if he didn’t indicate it in the report. It’s imperative information

@JulieGrant attny Jackson did ask the firefighter name starting w/an F if he did write it down in the report! That's what was great bcuz that was the firefighter who said you have to document everything and yet he did not document that she said she hit him she hit him.
Also something to note about the female firefighter and I'm watching DVR about an hour behind on the 3rd, shes claiming she said she hit him in front of cop but remember both cops said they didn't hear that!!

Watching these court cases it’s clear to everyone watching the judge isn’t neutral. No matter what the defense has to say or ask the judge does not care. Evidence and the truth doesn’t matter to her. The witnesses you can tell who is being honest and who is not. Some are even hesitant to speak. I find it interesting that Lally has hardly any valuable experience. His questions are bland and he only seems to have anything to say when it came to his opening statement. I mean half of him talking is “What if any?” This case is being handled so inappropriately. It’s truly disgusting.
Anthony Flematti has been destroyed as a witness. He obviously knows which side of the bread is buttered.
This is day three and logically, based upon the evidence so far, I see nothing to indicate a cover-up was even warranted. There is evidence from several that READ stated she hit him but nothing to indicate any other person was involved. I see her attorney trying to get people to hear and see things that are not clearly audible or visible so it appears his is the only attempt of covering up something…her actions.

@@MsPopeye65 LOL, I know that feeling! I can understand the discrepancy in what people heard Read say because she probably did make different comments to those standing closest to her. I am eager to see evidence about the scratch marks some suspect of being a dog’s doing. The marks do not appear to be dog bites unless the poor dog had only upper teeth. Hope they swabbed those areas for DNA!

If she drove in reverse to hit him, she would have to go over the curb, at an angle, not parallel to the road. So, how come his body was parallel to the road? With the force of the car, his body would be projected at an angle?
@MFC7625..plus his belt was gone..not sure how that happened, one shoe on..one missing, and where is his cap also? I keep trying to picture the states theory. Just can't work it out..then his injuries aren't matching.

If KR said I hit him .... to McLaughlin, the 2 other paramedics lied as they were in the ambulance at the time. The way Mc Laughlin said it, was kind of a question, not a statement from KR. The 1st paramedic, who saw the puffy jacket, said the rigidity started, but the other one said he was "frozen" .....
Several said a kind of hoodie, only one said puffy jacket... Who to believe in all this? They're all paramedics, they have very little memories of the injuries and not a single one mentioned a laceration at the back of his head.....
I find this incredible that when the defense start asking questions, they have constant losses of memory...
And we have a cop falsifying a report....

I don't think our memories work as well as some people think they do, particularly not in stressful chaotic events, and particularly when there's a well-paid, experienced attorney amplifying any inconsistency he can find.
All these witnesses appear pretty credible, imho. Any errors/inconsistency I've seen have been reasonable given the flawed nature of human memory, and there's also been a lot of consistency, as well. but of course, just my 2 cents.

Maybe there was a question mark on the end of Karen's "I hit him?" The women from that house could have been saying to Karen, "you must have hit him." Soooo Karen could have thought "oh no, did I hit him?"
The defense attorney is now blaming the firefighters for John's death. Everyone knows, she hit him, she hit him, but the dance continues.
Because I am open to her being guilty or innocent, I am going to say that the prosecution does not yet have a very clear case. There are a lot of problems here and that means reasonable doubt. At this point, whether I think she did or didn't hit him with the car, I would feel I would need to vote not guilty.
