John, this reminds me of my trip to Australia--immigration grilled me for what seemed like 15 minutes and then asked "do you have a criminal record?" and I said, "I didn't know you still needed one to get in!"
That is so apt at more than one level. Historically Australia was a penal colony for Great Britain so at one time one did need a "criminal record" to get in.
I went there last week. A nightmare, waited for almost 4 hours only for 5 second they said all good. I did online application and they want me to submit in person. So much for online system in Japan.
Thank you for this informative video even though i don’t live in Japan but there’s always something to learn for somebody🙂So thank you for sharing this enjoyable video John🙂👍!!!
Ah, getting a dedicated stamp from a shop nearby is so backwards (and nostalgic in a bad way XD), we also used to have that in Hungary, there was a little Post shop in the office where you'd get things like your ID and passport and whatever, and so you'd queue for the thing you want to do, then you'd queue at the shop (which only took cash even at a time cards were already common), then you'd queue again to get the holy stamp back to where you were originally.
I have to visit the immigration office in Seoul, and it strangely evokes a similar feeling haha. I understand that most people may not wear cheerful expressions because going to the immigration office isn’t exactly a joyful experience. It’s a place where people’s dreams can sometimes be dashed.
25 years in japan ? Wow ! Long time ! You are an almost japanese citizen ? I used to report to Sendai regional office when I was a kid... you get japanese Medicare system or file income tax to IRS ? The healthcare system is better than U.S.?
This livestream raises some very interesting questions about the need for a Work Visa from Japan for UA-camrs filming in Japan. I am guessing that the duration of the project and usual geographical location of the UA-camr have to be factors. For example when John, who resides in Japan, traveled to New England to film for a brief period of time one would not expect that would result in a meritorious claim by the U.S. Government for taxes. Likewise UA-camrs not residing in Japan and not receiving monies in Japan may have a good argument that for them a work visa from Japan should not be required.
That is also where plenty of Gaijins that will be deported are temporarily held. Located in all the wings of the 9th 10 11th floors. Tame deportees are given leniency to roam hallways freely. Aggressive ones are chained or isolated to protect others. This jail is the only one I know where you can still order from ministop and have groceries and stuff delivered to your cell. Long time deportees that are battling for visa (such as refugees) are also held here. But those who cannot afford a plane ticket are also transferred to Ibaraki so they can work for money for ticket (miniscule prison wage).
I did my visa extension all online procedures using My Number Card at home, for documentation you can send by Japan post... Didn't go to the government hall once...
@@nayabafzal7431 I received my visa card by mail a month after completing all process correctly. But I did apply in japanese online forms, I'm not sure how long it takes for English forms if any.
🤣I know what you mean by some people don’t know how to use a western toilet 😉. Worked at a place like that for a couple of months once, boot prints in strange places.
Lols you changed your Visa type from a work visa to a spouse visa ^_^ your residency limit is indicated on your Alien Card which you bring with you all the time.
I love this channel, always so informative and very useful, glad I can have time to watch your channel again.

This is gold!
Brilliant, 🤣🤣
I HOPE YOU DIDN'T BRING ANY FRUIT WITH YOU 😂😂 Well come to Australia 😊😊

Agree, reminds me of the passport and immigration system upon airport arrival.

I also need adopting John. I can edit faster than the other guy who asked (and also failed to thank you here in the comments). Thank you.
wow, I went last week, was done by 9:10am . I hope this video was out earlier. but thanks John
You were done so fast too! Step one. Step two, pickup - not so fast my friend 😂
@@onlyinjapanGO Oh wow, I'm not looking forward to that 😭

Hey John ...are you still working for NHK ?

The one in Shinagawa is an absolute nightmare ! I’m so glad I moved out of Tokyo and can go to one outside the city.

I remember this building well, needed to come here a few times, both a work and residents visa
shinagawa station is super nice, i got some good photos there when it was mostly empty and really cool and serene

I remember your last immigration video where you were mad they gave you a one year for your visa. I hope you got a 3 or a 5 this time!
Happy Halloween 🎃
Very interesting showing me the immigration building John I like it
I have a question how old is the building that you showed?
I went there this morning. The process was streamlined compared to last time I was there, i.e., I only needed to go to one counter instead of three.
Building vibe: Welcome to Arstotzka :D
Thanks for sharing it. ✌️

That building has the same architecture style as Tokyo Detention House but a bit smaller.
Look like that Kosuke prison in Nagoya, featured in another UA-cam documentary.

How long it took to get ur visa extension after online application?

I’m contemplating creating a business in Australia, selling Japanese products in Oz, is a visa required to travel to Japan and meet suppliers?
🎃Happy Halloween everyone👻
I think I was there @ 2018!😮 It's part deportation facilitated..
Hey John, if I was home this morning I could see you from my mansion home. 🎉😮😊
John consider yourself a educator ! You are still teaching, it's just done on UA-cam 😊😊😊
Good information
@onlyinjapanGO Cant you get permanent residency status being married to a Japanese national and being there ~25yrs?
25 years in Japan and still not a citizen.. I respect that from the Japanese , no mass migration and still in control of their own country.
🤣I know what you mean by some people don’t know how to use a western toilet 😉. Worked at a place like that for a couple of months once, boot prints in strange places.
I received my PR this year so I look forward to not going back to Shinagawa again (or at least for a long time).
We know the deal about Visas in Japan, so you don't need to tel, we already know
Jet is so needlessly elitist for what it is, interac is so much more convenient
What if you make an informational video but your viewers find it entertaining? 😂

What's up with these "weird people" on the bus?😂 Curious..
It was in an article in the Japan Times recently 😂
GIMME JOB
I worked for AEON for about a year.
