I admire how BHB can be so methodical and can with ease make one understand all of his tutorials. And on top of that he is so annoyingly nice too :) Thank you BJ!
This is a super video since the electronics is the thing i think is the hardest to get a good grasp off. It's also a lack of good videos on the issue since it mostly is a focus on the mechanical side of things. Great watch
I just got a 1978 XS650 project bike, so this is very timely... I might not start it for a while, but this is (as always) really helpful and just Brilliant!!
BJ the effort you put into this video is impeccable. The detail, camera stability, lighting and editing. I cannot imagine how many hours it took to create this video. Thank you so much for this content! Very well done. Clean, neat and tidy wiring job and I learned a few things as a fellow sparky installer. Bravo Sir!
Another fantastic instructional video BJ 👏 👏 👏 Your attention to detail is second to none, looking forward to seeing the next installment. Also good to hear Seth working hard in the background at 11:48, doing some delicate carburettor adjustments 😂
trying to "neat-up" the wiring on my Honda NTV650 cafe racer project. this helped a lot actually. What I got from this is mostly "work neat and take it slow". Thanks man, I learned a lot from this
It's always nice to watch how other shops do stuff. Great that you have said many times here that wiring takes time. We wire a bike in two days and still people think that is a long time!
This is fantastic! I really appreciate you taking the time to put together such an informative video. The little tricks and tools you demonstrated are really confidence inspiring. You've taken the stress out of my 66 Suzuki project. Thanks again for the wonderful video!
Wiring can absolutely be intimidating! Totally understand the worries. Please check out the wiring playlist as I have tons of how to type videos to make the job easier
I hope I'll never need to build my own wiring harness, but while working on restoring/reviving a 1976 GL1000 (my first time ever doing a restoring/reviving project) I've realized I need to learn about wiring, so I watched this video and I'll watch it again. Thank you for also posting content like this.
Very in-depth and informative video BJ. Last time I did a harness from scratch I ran all the wires to and from where I needed them then used sewing thread at regular intervals to hold everything together where needed. Then various connectors fitted and final connections made then took the whole harness off the bike and wrapped it all up with self amalgamating tape. The handy thing with that type of tape is you can work it around where you have branches in the harness so that everything is protected and waterproofed. Like all things, there will be various ways of doing things. Nice to see Seth keeping busy in the background.
Electrics can be electri terrifying.. This will definitely help in future repairs/ rewiring. Thanks so much! Keep up the good work and amazing content 🙌🏻 Greetings from the Netherlands,
great attention to detail, very nice job indeed! I'm still on the fence if the X21 box is really needed, but have to admit that it helps eliminate the usual bundle of spaghetti and plugs that are stuffed in the headlight. i have recently got an XS400 and am truly inspired to do something similar with it. quite the project!

I really appreciate these videos! I want to do this eventually to one of my builds. Keep the informative videos coming! I love the let’s see if they’ll run, but I was missing your “educational” videos that you always used to. Thanks for the info brother. We all appreciate it!
Glad you liked it. They are just so much harder videos to make in both time and editing so that's why they are fewer. I'm packing more into each video instead of say a 3 part series on wiring or rebuilding the engine. That's why it seems like there is less
When I saw the length of this, I thought no way am I going to watch an electrickery video this long. Wrong. Enjoyed your thought process and how you solved problems.
You make the wiring I job I did on my cx look like a caveman did it haha! This video isn't wiring, this is art. I'm hoping this winter I'll tear my bike down more, since I'm pretty sure my 44 yo radiator fan is shot, that maybe I will clean up my wiring after I add the wiring for the electric fan, and maybe grip warmers.
Absolutely cracking job BJ very clean and tidy, if you want it right do it yourself that’s my motto lol. This bike is going to look the dogs bollocks just the detail on it is beautiful the turn signals are real cool also nice touch man. This is beyond my expectations if I’d to wire something like that it would blow up haha colour blind and all that but yeah your a master of art for sure mate awesome awesome job thanks for a great video take care and have a great week 👍👌🏍️🏍️🏍️❤️🏁🏁

excellent explanation Can you tell me if you have a diagram with the AWG wire gauge that I use in that wiring. Or, I would appreciate it if you could tell me where to review it, thank you
You can actually look up a wire gauge calculator to determine the size you need. If you're using an NWT system they have the gauges listed in the diagrams though
I tried really hard to stick with this but only made it to 22 min. Probably has to do wit the fact that I am not building anything so its crucial for me to watch and understand. I am sure peeps that are doing a build would very much appreciate all the detail you provide to probably the most boring part of any bike build.
Impressive job and video! So you do not start out by drawing a full connection diagram for all wires/cables on the bike? I feel I would need to do that to have a map of the full system ...
Well trying to draw it all out at once goes against breaking it up into bites in my opinion. I do show that there are diagrams available though. Having done this enough times I have a good idea how everything should route
@@BrickHouseBuilds for sure you know best how you perfer to master the whole thing, and I have never done anything as complex as e.g. this bike project. Just that the way my planning mind works I need some kind of visual overview (meaning not only words in lists) to grasp the whole thing and then starts picking the order of the chunks to be done. Also has something to do with my background I guess, at work in the past there was always full system project specific connection diagrams to review and understand before getting started. Love the video. Watched the whole thing and got some great ideas! I am building a Cafe Racer themed Air Cooled Ducati Monster. As you know the older ducati's wiring is iffy at best so it will get a completely new harness. I wanted to ask: I am thinking of using Whether Pack connectors. What are the pros/cons of this style connector? They seem to be pretty common on the European stuff. See you use a lot of other style connectors.
I've never used weatherpack style but the terminals and tools are similar enough. I like the esthetics of the deutsch terminals and how they organize various connectors for space. That's about it
@@BrickHouseBuilds I did some research on the deutsch after watching. They look like a great connector, especially if you use the solid pins. Thanks for all the tips! Love the long format videos.
