Hello Kate, I discovered your channel about a week ago and have found it delightful and inspiring in so many ways. This afternoon, rather than ironing p, I have actually started to make an advent wreath.( last year the candles stayed in the cupboard and were never used for this purpose! ) Many thanks Marion I am a dabbler and tentatively describe myself as an Artist even though what I sometimes produce isn’t always great, I love the process when I put my perfectionism to one side! Thank you for giving me permission to claim this title! Please continue to share. You are blessing many folk with your wise and uplifting words.
My friend, your message fills me with happiness: thank you! I love to think of your beautiful Advent wreath lighting up a little more every week. And I'm so, so glad that you do call yourself Artist. This is right and helpful and good, and I celebrate your choice, and I celebrate your Artistry. ❤
I have painted, I have written poetry, I have sung in a choir, I have written a story and I am writing a follow up. I think of myself as a Jack of all trades, master of none. All these things have been in my life a little at a time. Work and family always have taken priority. I have really been enjoying your channel, thank you for sharing your gifts , words of wisdom that get me thinking.
You, my friend, are an Artist and it's wonderful to hear about all that you are doing and have done. So much beautiful expression! If I may be so bold, may I encourage you to forego the "jack of all trades" qualifier? As a multi-passionate creator, I used to level that against myself, too, and it never felt good or empowering. Let's just be Artists who create in whatever medium calls to us currently. That way, we can always be creating - paintings, poems, stories, songs, meals, table-settings, plays, what have you. I take off my hat to you, Creative sister! ❤
I AM a writer! And, when I do a little bit now, it's usually jotting notes or using a voice recorder to tell myself a story or idea that I daydreamed & need to transcribe ❤️♾️❤️ Thank you for your encouragement! I'm enjoying your videos very much❤️♾️❤️
Oh, I got a chill of truth when I read your words: I am a writer. BRAVO! I'm so glad you're here and I'm cheering you on joyfully as you write and flourish! ️❤
I am an artist. My dinning room has been turned into my little studio. My easel, canvases, paints, are always there for me. I do something creative everyday. If I am sad or down, I go to my artwork, it lifts my spirits up. I was never encouraged as a child even though my father was told by my teachers I had talent. As I grew older I took time to learn on my own a little at a time. Now at the age of 76, I have given myself permission to call myself an artist. It brings me such joy. I share my joy with my friends by gifting them with my paintings. What said is true, as I look back over my life, I was actually building my castle brick by brick. Thank you so much dear Kate.
You have done it, Artist: you have built your castle, brick by brick and moment by moment, over years and decades of action and commitment. I'm so moved by what you share here. You found a way not only to encourage yourself but to claim that essential permission and freedom for yourself. And now look at you with your studio in the dining room and a life of artistry. I'm so inspired by you and overjoyed for you. BRAVO, dear Artist!
Im going to bake again..I used to say..Baking is in my past..thankyou for reminding me..Will start baking cakes and scones again..Im building on my Castle again.🕺💃🙋🌟💛💚🌈💙🇿🇦
Oh, I'm so glad! Baking is a great pleasure with a tangible - and tasty - reward: a true creative act. Good times ahead for you and those lucky enough to wander into your kitchen! :)

Good Morning, Creating my own stencil for printmaking now. Collecting leaves for a creative project. Swimming and water dancing to the music played at our community pool this morning - Out the door now 😊 then off to the woods!
Haigh Kate, I've been away a ramblin in the hills. Staring along a valley at the mountains beyond appears daunting. But walking along, stooping to admire a flower, looking up to see what the clouds are up to, listening to the song of the stream then turning back and being surprised by the distance I've come. The same with drawing, particularly a portrait. Absorbed in an eye, a tiny line at the edge of the mouth that subtlety changes the expression, then looking back at a complete work and wondering however did I have the patience? Consideration of time has to be set aside. A block at a time a course is laid, a chapter written, a castle built, a story told. 🍀🙏🍀
Oh - YOUR POEM! It lands right in my heart as a strengthening draught. Bless you, my friend, and so happy to see you again after your marvelous travels!
Kate, Your words are gifts to the world (mine, for sure!) and I'm taking in the synchroncity of finding your channel at this moment. So, my "giota beag anois" is my writing (toward the story that is asking to be discovered rather than the article that still lacks a thesis statement). The creative identity I claim "anois" is as a creative writer - of stories that take shape in the form that's needed.
Laura, I am standing up and shouting with joy that you are claiming the title of creative writer: BRAVO! How wonderful that you are choosing to give yourself the gift of writing what you truly want to write, knowing that that's the heart of it and the heart of you, too. Thank you for sharing this. I got such a dose of courage and energy from your words, and I know everyone reading them will, too.
Reading your post, very similar to what I was thinking as well. I just found Kate's wonderful channel. So absolutely delightful. In this crazy world today, such a light, airy, refreshing thoughts and comfort I'm feeling now,.🙏💯💚🇮🇪🩰🌹🎶
Part of my castle building is my writing and my knitting. I fell away from writing when my boy was littler, but now that he's started kindergarten, it is time to come back. And I love making clothing- my great grandma was a seamstress and I just feel close to her and my grandma while creating clothing 💚
What a beautiful castle you are building! It's wonderful that in this season of your life you are feeling called back to your writing and finding more time to answer the call. And making clothing with the blessing and grace of your grandma and great grandma - well, that is pretty much the coolest thing! Bless you in all your creativity!
Mer Cait 🧜♀iontach! This is a magnificent way to deal with that voice we all have, that inner critic. Mary Oliver talked about Voodoos of Ambition, a similar thing I’d say! I’m building a castle as an amhránaí agus ceoltóir..go raibh maith agat!

Thank you again for your channel. To answer your questions: 1. What do I do to enact my creative identity -- I write, mainly. I started very early. I have written many books, and published seven. More privately, I like to sing, dance, draw, paint; I like to try to play instruments. I'm trying to learn Chinese calligraphy. 2. What creative identity am I claiming now -- I want to think of myself as an artist, because I write to create art, more than for any other reason. Music and the Visual arts are my first loves. I have written about artists in the past. But I don't usually say that, because it sounds wildly immodest to me.
Laura, I am honored to my boots to have you - a deeply accomplished artist - with us here! I know what you mean about "wildly immodest." My whole upbringing was to downplay gifts and even object achievements. But I've noticed that when someone claims a certain identity, they tend to live into it more fully, and in that beautiful virtuous circle, the practice reinforces and creates the very thing claimed. I am excited for you, Artist. Thank you for being here!
My normal creativity is as a songwriter, singer, and musician. But my aspiration is to progress as a poet. I struggle with being able to identify what makes a good poem, though I think I know it when I hear it.
You ARE a good poet, Mike, and I know that many who have heard your poems in our April celebrations would agree with me. Trusting your own ear is the path, just as it is in songwriting, as well as jumping in and playing with words, ideas, and the music of language. I appreciate you, a chara.
I think poetry is like jazz music which encompasses such a broad range of expressions it's not possible to pin down. And each type has a dedicated audience. I'm the same with poetry - is it a mash up or is it artful?
How do you spell a little bit now in Irish. ….so I can practice saying it. Thank you. I’m taking back my identity as wrier poet and singer. And building my castle. God bless you for your encouragement ❤️🦋

So grateful that you have shared this here excited to watch you bloom. A little bit now is "Giota beag anois" which sounds like "gitta byeg anish." Little by little, you build your castle. Cheering you on always! ❤

This made my cry emediatly ... feeling the connection to my ancetors.."poets, storytellers, artists, weavers".... ua-cam.com/video/KC38WEitryw/v-deo.htmlsi=HR8RsBuHuJEk4_sj ☘☘
